Paul bought Beatle song franchise and buying Apple records; which is what all Beatles agreed not to do. In a TV documentary, some 40 years ago, you see John asking... and Paul admitting that he broke the trust between him and John.

Any Beatles fan already knows this. Lennon said he wanted a divorce but agreed to keep it quiet. McCartney then went to the press and said he was leaving the group. This was re-created in the tele movie John & Yoko A Love Story 30 years ago.
