Hi folks,
Many friends ask me about my thread cutting system using a strong stepper motor - 7A
Then, in this video, I'm showing a little more details about my way to cut any thread type.
I hope you take advantage, and any doubt, just write me any time.
All comment, questions, and like's it is welcome.
In my next video already recorded, I will show thread cutting on the lathe in stainless steel 8 mm diameter.
I Hope yet that my bad English, be sufficient to you understand me,
But I want all you to know, that I sacrifice a lot, sometimes for days, to subtitle for you in the hope that I can help you.
Luiz Ally

Great video, makes me envious - I am still using the Sherline thread cutter kit as is.

David, it is easy to do, I think worthwhile. I have one 4100 lathe dedicated to make threads, The next video for soon, will be making threads in stainless steel

I was wondering if this threading attachment can be used on CNC-lathe - thank you for sharing! Also valuable details about modernisation of the motor part.

Hi Luis, Another great video, thank you for these insights as I have followed you videos for years. I have a question, how do you set the spindle speed for the 7amp stepper. I am keen to dedicate a lathe to threading but will be looking at fine pitch and small internal diameters. Please keep the videos comming, they are inspirational. I even watch them with my 8 month old daughter as she likes how the sherline machines move. 😀 Andy

Hi Andy, thank you for watching and following my channel. I set the spindle speed for the 7amp stepper using the feed rate setting on the Mach3 for Sherline In resume, you define the speed using the feed rate on the Mach3, nothing else, there is no secret, the rest the gears do according to the chosen pitch. I don't know if I made myself understood, but you will realize in practice that it is very simple. Congratulations and good health to your little daughter.

Very nice. Am I correct this is a cut pass and a spring pass at each depth? What are the benefits?
@tryally

Rus, yes, that's right, it's to ensure the measurement and better finish. Thank you for watching and comment this video.

Sim, é um ótimo recurso ter um mini torno desses e uma mini fresadora na bancada, na verdade minha formação é em eletrônica e associei a micro usinagem, isso mudou minha vida em todas variações dos meu projetos. Obrigado por assistir e comentar.

What kind of stepping motor controller or circuit board do you for this?
@tryally
@tryally 2 жыл бұрын
Reid, has no secret, it's just a strong stepper driver like of those easily found in the market, I'm using one with 7A, and I'm using an old 7A step motor, I have also the intent to make more videos about it. But you can ask anything you want, and I'll try to help you.

Luiz is this cnc lathe only for making threads,? Can you do basic cnc lathe operations like turning and boring and drilling?
@tryally
@tryally 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, so this lathe is dedicated to making threads. If I used a servo motor instead of a stepper motor I could do CNC machining with a mechanical modification to decouple the gears, I've actually thought about it.

@@tryally ok I understand, now how do you power your 7amp stepper? And how do you control your 7amp stepper?
@tryally
@tryally 2 жыл бұрын
@@pauldiaz4273 I am using a good quality driver with micro stepper, and I control them normally by Mach3. To generate the G-code, I'm using the WIZARD on Mach3 and make a small change manually in the codes. The advantage of this system is that you can make threads in any material and diameter without pitch loss. It's perfection. The next video already recorded, I will to show making threads in stainless steel, I will edit it soon.
