I am trying out the Milescraft Hingemate. You can get one here amzn.to/2l8u0wu
My wife wanted a door put up on the cased opening going into her bathroom so I bought a bi-fold door to match our other doors. This was going to be less expensive than ordering door separate door leafs. In the next video we will do the work on the door.

I just used mine to set hinges. This is a great tool but i Did order Milescraft base for my Makita Router that will enlarge the base for about 22 bucks on amazon.. Thanks for the video.

I have done the hammer and chisel method, and it is pretty easy to screw up by taking away two much material.

1st of all Tony, thanks for taking time to make DYI Video. Most of all thanks for not eding mistakes ex: when screws didn’t come out at 1st try (it happens to all of us men & we do get short temper because of it)😜. You were able to communicate info. In away that made your views (me) comfortable THANKS I usually don’t subscribe to video I watch but I will subscribe to yours, you didn’t make me comer (1st timer) Jeff Kendrick

That self centering drill bit is called a Vix bit. But that could be the brand name, like Qtips for cotton swabs, Kleenex for facial tissue. Romex for house wiring. These are all brand names that we have latched on too. Instead thay should be addressed by their proper name. Duct Tape is another one of those names. 😁🛫

"That self centering drill bit is called a Vix bit." Nope, TFJD has it all wrong. First off, a VIX BIT is a self-centering drill bit. Second, the Milescraft folks did NOT include a VIX bit in their kit. They included a generic self-centering bit made in China with the rest of the kit components. If your plastic templates do not neatly match the hinge, the mortise you cut with it will not neatly match the hinge. If the plastic template does not properly seat itself on the steel support, let Miles crft know and they will get you a replacement part. After all, a brand new kit should work as advertised. When setting out to video a project, consider walking yourself through the process at least once before turning a camera on. Then find a way to support your camera for each shot - tripods are cheap & plentiful in thrift shops. Using the kit on a scrap of wood is not a proper demonstration - try sharing a real world application.

The morise is wider than the hinge; the depth is uneven; how is this a solution?

Why are all the jigs 1/8" longer than what is stamped on them... Do I have to "repair" my door after I complete the hinge or strike installation?

Because this world is not perfect. That 1/16" gap on each end of the hinge gives a little play in the system.

Maybe ok for the handy andy but then you have two extra holes which isn't a good option for clear wood doors. Further, the plastic collars are junky and not tight, as mentioned. Finally the bit isn't anything close to pro quality and may start to heat up just after a few cuts. That edge router he used is ok for that but just be mindful of the depth.

Tony I had my cordless drill crap out on me. Looking to buy a new one but I do not have much to spend on one. Do you know of a place that I can buy a used one for a good deal? I looked in the 2 pawn shops here in town. They would 80 and 90 bucks for what looked to be worn out drills. Thanks for the help brother. God Bless.

I saw a black and decker for like $40 on amazon. Do you have a decent craigslist in your town? Sometimes I find deals there. Let me know what you find. I think I have one that I lost the charger too but the charger might be as expensive as a whole used drill.
