Those lower control arms look almost identical to delorean LCAs, not surprising since lotus did the engineering work for the delorean. What some delorean owners do to their original LCAs, is weld a plate on the bottom of them to strengthen them up. I knew a couple guys that had their original arms tear.

Saw them reinforced that way on the Manta featured earlier. No reports of them tearing in the Esprit community so I'm leaving it for now.

Unfortunately that was another short one. I would love to see much more longer videos, that’s how much I like your channel. That calmness with a great sense of humor is relaxing and sounds almost professional. But with dedication, an eye for detail and proper rust removal and protection to prevent it from coming back. I think I would have chosen for epoxy powder coating and a polyurethane finish. But again Love this channel and would like longer videos. Good luck with the rebuild 💪

The king of stop motion is back!😄 Only thing that I am worried about with this talk of lightening stuff is it seems Lotus already were on the structural edge and sometimes over it with their components? But your videos are a joy to watch and nobody else does breakdown and renovation animations like you👍

Great stuff George.. That solid bar you replaced? Chapman wouldn’t have allowed such a thing unless it was absolutely necessary?? Although not a suspension component it reminds me of a torsion bar…. Without the torsion element.. maybe a compromise for engine ‘frame’ rigidity… or something Chapman would have approved of a ‘cheap’ fix for a rigidity issue? Just seems but strange that one. R-Tech for the win regards welding ..
@soupclassicmotoring2 ай бұрын
Comes off like I meant Lotus did it Mal, they didn't. The original hollow bar must have rusted through, or gotten damaged. R-Tech baby!
Thank you, cool to see you are making progress on the Lotus. Been watching the videos since the W123 'surfboard' Mercedes and the Range Rover restoration. Great cimenatic and storytelling experience, thank you. And a thought or two came up during this video, for your careful consideraton of course. But I might as well share the thoughts, hopefully to your benefit, that is the idea anyway. But how about taking on a dedicated (freelance) Lotus restoration Project Manager to see things through, so you can focus on your prep work and the video production side of things? Also, have you perhaps considered organising a subscriber/contributor day for 'the heavy lifting', when the Lotus body needs to move? And as an idea, maybe the wider car community where you are, can also help out to see this Lotus restoration through. Thinking of the drift car scene, for instance. Alexi from the Noriyaro YouTiube channel, recently has made a great drift scene video, that what's inspired this idea. Thank you very much once again, the restored Lotus in tow behind the Sprinter campervan build, now that is an awesome, future sight to behold ☺👏
