great video, not sure about the green, might look good on print out on paper but in reality on the road? IMO: lotus cirrus white.

Reference experience (not related to suspension work) - In general, Blaster vs WD40, higher heat and cheater bar. I have a 1973 Fiat 124 Spider1600, I installed full Ansa exhaust system on in 1975. It was wreaked with front end body damage about 1980. Car sat (indoors) and still does. I bought a cherry unrusted and damaged, 1971 like the 73, about 2016. Hay I'll put that Ansa system on the 1971... Working off and on, I removed the system up to the header 4 to 2 slip joint. This was easy up to that point, i.e. "some" amount of movement by twisting and flexing of system pieces. At the point of the last 2 to 1 section / 4 to 2 header slip joint, not much working space and only one direction to remove, straight down. Soaked joint with WD40, various lube products, Blaster and heat from Propane torch, pounded and beat off and on for a year... Finally decided heat source was not sufficient. Bought a HVAC Acetylene torch. Continued as above, to the point of "If you don't come off this time", I am cutting you off! Low and behold finally, with better, higher heat, I beat the dam thing loose and it hit the floor! Unbelievable, after 42 years, the system was completely removed. Factory nickel coating on the headers was a little rough, so I had the headers and the 2 to 1 portion aluminum coated. Painted the balance with high temp and installed on the 71. Moral, persistence and more heat. Blaster does seem to penetrate (sometimes) much better than other products. Ps, no sponsorship involved.

PLEASE DO NOT PAINT the stainless! It is gorgeous, and it needs to get oxygen in order to build up the layer of chromium dioxide that prevents stainless from rusting.

the lotus is making progress! I recently got myself a powder coating gun and an old oven. It is the way to go for painting all the little brackets and pieces. no fumes, no over spray, and perfect glossy finish in 20 mins, save so much time. You should give it a go. Now i wish i had a sand sand blaster setup like yours.

Fascinating stuff as always, I suspect the material removed from the gear linkage is going to be way the most noticable when it's finished, it's easy to forget how much weight of metal you're stirring around with each gearchange, a classic example of every little helps !!!

BUT BUT BUT changing those brackets and washers to stainless will surely mess with the tensile yield strength and your car will surely explode!!!!! ;) Jest aside, nice work saving yourself from future headaches with some shiny new parts that will never need painting :)

Great intro George, you set a lovely tone on each episode. Those green lotus prints could be direct from the 80's -just need to have an airbrushed lass draped somewheres in them. That GREEN on the car evokes allusion of the Alfa Romeo Carabo concept car in a good way. I'm really curious if you are going to set off the paintwork with some bright accent stripes or lettering like the concept car did... cheers brother!

You should use a ship anoid on the side of your frame to stop rust. They work. Also fill your pipe with sand, tape the ends. They will bend better. No kinks!

You don't necessarily need a mandrel bender to make the coolant pipes. You do need a tube guide for the bender, depending on the material, maybe pack it with sand or try WS8 resin. If you can't get hold of a tube guide, try a piece of 1/4" thick strap to spread the pressure from the roller, altering the bend pressure by moving the roller in or out. If you have a solid bench, mount tge bender horizontally and use a big tube to get some leverage. If you can find it, maybe 409 stainless tube? It's less corrosion resistant than 304 or 316, but it bends with a lot less hassle.
