The Last Samurai visits Namba Yasaka shrine in Osaka city and introduces the Tug of War ritual. Namba Yasaka shrine is also famous for Shishiden, lion looking huge shrine. The main deity of this shrine is Susanoono Mikoto who is known as the hero who killed Yamatano Orochi, man eating monster snake.
The rope used for the tug of war symbolizes this Orochi.

I wasn't expecting a two tailed snake at first. But after the tug of war I understood it. A quite different vibe than most other shrines. Thank you 😊

According to the myth, Yamatano Orochi had 8 heads and 8 tails.

What a fun and interesting ritual! It was good to see everyone of all ages participating! Was it not Susanoo that found one of the three imperial treasures after slaying Yamata no Orochi? Thank you for the videos!!

After slaying Yamatano Orochi, Susanoo found a sword from the tail of Yamatano Orochi. This sword is Kusanagino Tsurugi, one of the 3 holy treasures of Japanese imperial family.

Your channel is such a hidden gem, but I hope one day it becomes a less hidden gem, to think your videos get hundreds of views and some videos of Roblox characters or kids eating giant spicy cheetos get millions is a cosmic injustice

Thank you for your comment. I am trying to make the encyclopedia of Japanese culture on KZfaq. But it seems Deep Japan has low demand so far. It is a long way.
