nice video commins, I have the same machine, but my tip plug is quite high compare to yours. They are perfectly fine for tennis but for badminton it's blocking the grommets holes. Where did you purchase that, did your machine came with different tip plugs? thank you

Thank you for the comments. I don't own this stringing machine, it's owned by the badminton club I work for. As far as I know everything on the machine is original, including the tip plugs.

Yes you can! I actually do that for my rackets when I get to the end of a string spool and there's not enough to string both the mains and crosses!

On the stringing machine..once you've locked the racket on its frame the shaft is then noticeably shaking if moved or touched. So as you're stringing it what happens if you accidentally touched or hit the base of the shaft or the holder or the grip as you're moving/rotating the racket in 360 degree horizontally? Will that 'ruined' or in anyway affect the racket?
@danielcommins12855 жыл бұрын
The racket will be good. It will not be ruined. All rackets have the ability to flex a little bit and when you swing it the racket will seem to bend. That's all that's happening when you touch the bottom part of the racket when it's in the machine.

Hi sir.. Is it still possible to buy a mp100sp?
@danielcommins12854 жыл бұрын
It's nearly impossible since they stopped being manufactured almost 15 years ago. You may get lucky and find one on e-bay. I still have 4 that are unused, but they're not for sale :)

@@danielcommins1285 OK sir, but I hv a question for u.. I found there could be 2 versions.. Or maybe I'm confused.. Mp100 or mp100sp is the real one?
@danielcommins12854 жыл бұрын
@@joshuaprime777 the sp or non-sp version of the racket is a manufacturer/distribution code. They are both the same racket. Either one will be hard to find.

How much string do you need for one racket (meter)?
@danielcommins12857 жыл бұрын
Julian Hildebrandt you would be safe using 5m on the mains and 4m on the crosses. Depending on the grommet pattern and tension you could use less.

honestly, I am very concerned about the 2-poin mounting system, and I haven't seen a muscle power for a while, so much memory. Great instructions!
@danielcommins12857 жыл бұрын
On a 2-pin mounting system there's actually a way to brace the sides using a Y-clamp and some spare string to reduce the chance of the frame collapsing under higher tension (>=24 lbs). I use this method to string racket tension as high as 30 lbs.
@driveslowly5 жыл бұрын
@@danielcommins1285 can you make a video about that y clamp? I would like to learn because I have a two points machine too. Thank you

@@danielcommins1285 I am interested in a video or explanation of this method. I have strung previously on a 2 point machine and always wondered if it was feasible to go higher tension while maintaining headshape, to prevent damage. I always strung 23x25 max except one request, 25x27.5, but customer insisted and didn't care if I broke it. It didn't break, but I was cautious and worried.
@danielcommins12852 жыл бұрын
@@Nate-ui6yl you have to brace the racket at the bottom horizontally with the y clamp. The racket has the highest chance of breaking at the bottom 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock positions when stringing the mains. This is where you need to put a string using the cross tension to prevent this. The high tension on the mains will cause the racket to collapse vertically so you have to brace the racket horizontally with some spare string using the y clamp. Also note that you should alternate pulling tension on the mains, i.e. one string on the left then one string on the right, etc. In the video I do all the mains on one side because I'm stringing low tension. I have been able to string up to 32 lb using this method on a two-point machine.

Never, but never strung a racquet like this method!! Pull one or two strings each time and each side and not do all from one side and after do the other! You stay at one step to broke the racquet at the top. 😳 The last step with awl over bed strings is an way for broken the strings more fast and may could broken immediately the frame if a string broken, special at critical 2, 4, 8 and 10 o'clock points. This is not following the Yonex instructions....
@danielcommins12857 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments! You can start stringing both sides of the mains form the center when starting. I didn't do that for my racket because it's low tension (20lbs) and faster when I string one side at a time. The racket should be fine as long as you brace the frame correctly. Also for higher tension rackets (>=25lbs) I will also start the crosses from the bottom, not the top. If a string does break while stringing, the frame shouldn't break if the frame is braced correctly.

Thanks Alan, I appreciate the comments. I''ve actually heard of you around the badminton circles. I didn't know stringing the mains one side at a time warped the racket, but now that you mention it I do remember seeing a lot of tennis/racketball/squash rackets at the shop being strung from the center outward. I'll add a note in this video to mention that. As far as stringing bottom-up for all rackets, I was taught it doesn't matter too much for lower tension rackets which side you start first. I can see your point though, it would be more consistent. You're also right about cleaning out the scraps, that's something I'm working on!
