@GM Kof hard then just ship the engine in from europe, but they're not as amazing as you might think. Mostly 1.5 or 1.3l, so not much power but they are pretty reliable, courtesy of their simplicity. Around where i live a good condition 1.3l lada engine goes for as low as 30€, or you can buy the whole car for 150€.
@GlamStacheessnostalgialounge5 жыл бұрын
+GM Kof hard Trust me dude you're better off just getting a complete car. The engines are pretty small, are are adequate to pulling along the really light Lada bodies, but on a (I presume) modern pick-up? You won't be able to get the thing rolling with the larger "special variant" 1.6 engine, let alone the cheapest 1.3.

Maybe after this is finished you guys could stick another two engines in the back so the car becomes a 4 wheel drive 16 cylinder, it would be interesting to see what kind of acceleration it could achieve, it would have to be the worlds fastest Lada then. Good luck with this project.

An actual I8 engine would fire a cylinder every 90 degrees of crank rotation for smoother power delivery, not a pair of cylinders every 180 degrees. Should have offset the two engines by 90 degrees instead of aligning them on TDC. Though it probably won't matter much due to how roughly everything is put together.
@SpaceShipDeathstar5 жыл бұрын
Best comment here
@jonasthemovie5 жыл бұрын
I think that how roughly they were put together is an argument for firing in pairs

You can't offset the engines with 90 degrees. They vibrating pattern is periodic with 180 degrees so the vibrations would destroy the crankshaft or the whole engine

I am trying to be positive about this, but something tells me that you've got a good point. As soon as they go over 2500 rpm that first engine is going to self-eject itself out of the front of the car from the vibration...

J B has nothing to do with the car......where rotation is used cupplings need to be perfectly centered or they will fail.... Infact the even say about the vibration.....that vibration will multiply by a magnitude for every 2000 rpm..... That being said its a interesting experiment none the less

Crank shafts bolt to the input shaft on transmissions in every car. Yes they have a clutch or a torque converter in between and they are solid as well. There is no reason this shouldn’t work as long as they are carful
@robburdack43615 жыл бұрын
Daniel Davidson yeah welding a pully to the outside of a gutted presure plate is nowhere even close to a clutch or a machined balanced converter...... The point is unless the milled and centered it there will be vibrations that will ultimately cause damage...... This episode was awesome. I can't wait to see the results. I do think you should have used a rubber coupler, like the ones you get on propeller shaft connections, it would have soaked up some of the play, and make the engine connection more forgiving. I think 5 seconds for the 60km/h and around 15 seconds to the 100km//h - if it survives! Good luck. And thank you for the brilliant videos. Your Ideas and tests are comedy gold, yet don''t show half of the hard work and time you all put into this. Thank you
