I Like the look of the rectangle ones twisted together... I remember seeing bracelets made by twisting 2 copper wires with 1 aluminium wire and then they were hammered flat they were popular in the 70's

not2fast4u2c Now that you mention it, I remember those. For awhile there was a copper craze, the idea that copper next to the skin was good for you. Don't remember what that was all about.

Not sure if you are still monitoring these comments but I have a couple of questions after watching this. 1) Why anneal copper when I can already twist it as it comes? 2) If I do anneal it then how am I / you going to harden it again when the project is ultimately complete so that I / you are not stuck with a easily damaged/bent soft bracelet, decoration or knick knack? Is there a subsequent video on hardening?
@897473
@897473 6 жыл бұрын
If the copper is the way you want it, then there would be no reason to anneal. I generally anneal because it makes the copper easier to work into the designed shape. Hardening copper: Sometimes, once the final shape is reached the copper is soft. That's the time to hardcore the copper . Hopefully doing it in such a way that does not damage the final piece. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rKmemMqimZead4U.html

Look for a tap wrench handle. Amazon has one for as low as $8.00. You can spend more. Let me know if this helps.

I've been researching ways to twist 4 gauge anneal soft drawn copper wire, a drill gun does not work because it is to weak, im trying to build the cosmic washtub harmonizer and that requires thick copper wire like the 3 or 4 gauge
@897473
@897473 3 жыл бұрын
The only way I could do that in my shop is to braze the wires together. Put the loose ends in the vice. In place of a drill gun, I'd use a pipe wrench and a piece of pipe over the handle for leverage. There are probably better ways but I can't think of one at the moment.

from being an electrician we twist wires to make joints this leads me to believe the break in continuity was also from a lack of pulling back while twisting. that is how we make good joints we have keep the wires taught by pulling back hard and giving a really torquey twist and they come out uniform with no air gaps.

By twisting the copper are you strengthening it as well?
@897473
@897473 6 жыл бұрын
Twisting copper as in this video will make the copper harder. The copper will go from soft to half hard and then on to hard if it is continually worked. Eventually becoming brittle and fracturing.

Using multiple wires (meaning more than two) can give you some interesting effects. It's all a trial and error process.

3;07 - tHAT DEFFECT IS CAUSED BECAUSE THE TWO WIRES WAS NOT AT THE SAME STRENGHT, I LIKE TO TWIST THE WIRES WHEN THE BOTH WIRES ARE MORE APART FROM EACH OTHER AND WHEN TWIST THEY COME CLOSER AND THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT ARRIVE
