This should be an example how to translate video game into a TV series. One of our favorite shows currently. Funny, charming, lots of actions, good story and true to the twisted metal series.

This show was so dang good!!! It gave me everything I wanted from a Twisted Metal game. I'm glad Peacock ley us binge it instead of weekly episodes. Lets' go season 2!!!

I ended up loving this show and can't wait for Season 2. Mackie really helped but damn did Joe and Arnett steal the show everytime Sweet Tooth appeared.

I enjoyed this show so much more than I thought I would. The cheesiness and sometimes even cheap looking effects is part of the charm. It was great, loved the games growing up

This show had the Cobra Kai effect on me. Started it thinking it was gonna be a joke then turned out to be pretty awesome :)

This is not an academy award series by any stretch, but this has…something…that makes it work in a weird quirky way. I’m looking forward to what they do in season 2.

I was not too excited about the show at first. The trailers didn't really sell it for me. However I did watch it and I really enjoyed it. The music, comedy, action was cheesy at times but so good.

This show was bonkers. It felt so 90s but in a homage way that really made me chuckle. I was throughly entertained. Bring on S2!

So happy Jeremy showed this series some love! I'm a huge fan of TM and this show was a breath of fresh air. It clearly does not take itself seriously and I think that's why the humor (for me) works. I also felt the car sequences were really well done and they actually used alot of on-scene practical effects for those scenes which is awesome. I am so excited for Season 2 and I hope that they get greenlit for it! Also, Twisted Metal BLACK is my favorite in the series BY FAR

I'm a super fan of Twisted Metal. Just watching all the characters they added from all the games, even some from the 3rd and 4th game, which is funny as hell and made me smile. I can't wait for season two and all the chaos that comes with it.

It was surprisingly good. I hope folks check it out so we can get a season 2 to really dive into the action now that they’ve established characters and setting 🔥🔥🔥😩

My favorite part of the series is at the end when Nick Fury asks Sweet Tooth to be part of his PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Initiative

This show completely surprised me, I was completely expecting to find it forgettable and possibly not even finish it... I will be disappointed neow if it doesn't get a Season 2.. My picky self actually really really liked it.. 🃏

I am beyond happy that this show came out as good as it did. I used to like playing Twisted Metal on the PS2 as a kid. I really hope this show brings the game series back into popularity because it’s been over 10 years since we got a new game

Mr. Grim was always my favorite. His story in Black is absolutely metal.

I loved the show! It was fun and entertaining. Anthony mackie and the lady who plays quiet were great.

I think you nailed it here. I've been a TM fan since 95 and TM2 is my favorite of the series. I had 0 hope going into this show but thankfully I was proven wrong...some of the jokes definitely fell flat but man did I have a good time...also my wife who has minimal knowledge of the series loved it! I believe that says a lot. Season 2 has to happen!!

The series is pretty good. A lot of easter eggs and characters and cars from all the games. They made me care about the main characters and they were very well made. They even have Twisted Metal 3 and 4 characters there thats so cool. The people running the show clearly know this games. They made agent Stone and the Outlaw brothers part of the story in a coherent way. Not bad at all.

As someone that played this game a lot in my youth, this show is awesome. Sweet tooth really made this rock.

I am crossing fingers for a Season 2. I was not expecting this show to be totally awesome. I expected it to be good, but it did more than I thought it would and I loved it.

Agree with your comments. At first I didn't take to the main character and the humour was missing the mark but I was very pleasantly surprised at how it grew on me as the episodes went on. Loved the soundtrack too! I think they have given this the space to get closer and closer to the source material so I'll definitely be tuning in for season 2.

Glad to see so many sharing my opinion. I’ve been dreaming of a live action TM for 25 years. When I watched the trailer it was kinda disappointing but after watching the series I couldn’t be happier. Let them make season 2!

If you're sick and tired of bad VG adaptations, then Twisted Metal is the show for you. I binged the whole damn thing. Fans of the games will be very satisfied. Lots of easter eggs. Beyond that, it's just a damn entertaining show. Can't wait for season 2. Also, Will Arnett as the VA for Sweet Tooth. What more needs to be said?

I felt the same. As a Twisted Metal fan from 1st game, I went in stoked for the madness. At first, I was like what heaped trash pile did I fall into? Like a trooper, I kept going at some point I was really enjoying it, being a comedy and all. I did NOT know Sweet Tooth was two actors. I thought it was the wrestler the whole way. Wow, that was amazingly done! I love the "Crazy flame head interpretation.

I enjoyed the show more than I thought it would. It was the first mature game I got because my cousin gave it to me when I was 7 and to this day the series holds a special place in my heart.

I think the Darth Vader thing of "one actor does the physical work while another does the voice" should be done more often for these larger than life characters. Hell, I hope they do it with Doctor Doom. Also, the Twisted Metal series has about a gorillion cutscenes that are burned into my mind forever.

Had a ton of fun with this one and I'm really looking forward to season 2. Such a surprise of a show after having pretty low expectations going in, lol.

Twisted Metal 2, Small Brawl and Black are the most memorable for me, but if I had to pick just one then it’s probably gonna be Black. Unlocking those cinematic backstories were so much fun, what a dark and twisted (pun-intended) masterpiece from beginning to end, and yes, those end credits with ‘Paint It Black’ playing really did tie a nice little bloody bow on it. I have yet to play Twisted Metal on PS3, but Jeremy’s praise for it really makes me excited for the day I get a chance!

Definitely should have been a movie. Some nice car combat scenes looking right out the game, all 20 mins of it. Fingers crossed for season 2 with it being a tournament.

I love episode 6, besides the pit ball sex but I love the chemistry between the two leads

3:12 "He did such a good job at having his body language move with the inflection of what's being said by Will Arnett that it just looks like he's saying it." Is that how they did it? Don't they usually film the scenes first and then record the voice over? Isn't it more likely that Will Arnett recorded the lines after the filming and matched his inflections to the body language?

I remember playing Twisted Metal 2 with my friend when I was like 8 or 9, nonstop, for a solid weekend sleepover, then every day after school for a while. This TV show was unexpected and really good.

Smae as everyone else here. I reluctantly started watching the first episodes, then next thing you know I binged the whole thing in a day. So much better than I was expecting. Plus there were some really great character moments between Quiet and Jon. A lot deeper than it had right to be. Can't wait for season 2 in 2026

I hope that it gets renewed for a season 2 because I had a fun time watching it. It might not be perfect, but it's entertaining to watch. Looks like we're living in video game adaptation renaissance.

Enjoyed it. My wife and I are 90's kids. We weren't sure for the first 3 episodes, but binged the rest when it really got going

The music was just so nostalgic even if I didnt remember the names of some of the songs but I did remember those songs being played during my twisted metal days back in the late 90s and early 2000s hearing it took me all the way back and that's what sold me on this show including the comedy which was gold. Over all I'd give it a good 8 out of 10

This sounds like the same reason I loved that recent Terminator game and looking forward to the developer's next Robocop game - they aren't perfectly high budget, they aren't flawless polished experienced - but they are made by people who truly love the IP and it shines through every second.

I really think Jeremy is proof that an awesome personality is the most important thing in life. Week after week month after month year after year we all tune into this guy for his larger than life aura. Forget editing, shock value, gossip, explosions, etc etc etc Jeremy will last forever because his "Vibe" (I hate that word lol) is evergreen. Grew up with these games, like a lot of people, and this review has got me ready to watch it. I was really on the fence about even giving it a shot, but you've convinced me. This weekend it's Twisted Metal time.

Twisted Metal Black is my favorite game of the series. I just got it Again as it's on sale on the PSN for $5 and change right now. Played it last few nights. I'd Love it Remastered and made for Online Multiplayer and not just split screen with a second player. I haven't seen this show yet but I plan on watching it later today. Glad you enjoyed yourself, the few clips I've seen look like good Twisted Fun. I'm cool with it taking the Pathway leading up to the tournament, allows for decent intro time for character development beyond what we get in the various Feelings in the games. Like you I Enjoyed Death Race and thought Damn that's about as close as we're gonna get to TM. So I'm glad in a way That And Fast and Furious added to the Demonstrable Feasibility of a Twisted Metal production. My only gripe about TM Black was it was ALL Dark and Sweettooth had the only even Remotely Funny lines. The updated Ps3 game was Decent and Sweettooth was almost the Same to what we saw for that updated version in the show. Mackie brings the Player Perspective Light Heartedness to it so its definitely a Counter to all the Violence, gore and Action. I'm Cool with that, but as a Twisted Metal Fan I Totally Expect at LEAST DEATH RACE level action and Awesome When the Tournament kicks off next season. I Expected S1 to have the Smaller budget so I'm gonna hazard a guess that when theres money spent from the budget in the Action scenes, that that money is Well Spent for the viewers Eye and Mind Enjoyment. Y'know, action that's Apart of the story, apart of the Stakes and not just Action for Actions sake.

I never played the games and didnt expect much, but i jad such a blast watching this show. Once i got on the wavelength with the humour, it was really fun. And i love that young John Doe was played by one of Mackie's sons. Anthony Mackie Jr. So cute! 😂

Twisted Metal Black. Will always be peak for me. Played the hell out of every character. Needed to see their messed up backstories. And yeah, Mr. Grimm. I was surgical with his scythe attack. Mmmm good times. Hopefully he shows up in season 2.

I dumped thousands of hours into these games as a kid. It's always refreshing to know they didn't completely destroy the franchise we love. (I'm talking about you Welcome to Racoon City and RE series.)

The chemistry between Stephanie Beatriz and Anthony Mackie should not have worked as good as it was I also think Anthony mackie in this show is better than he’s ever been in any MCU movie or show as falcon and he proved he can be a really solid lead if he gets the material to do it. That scene with Evelyn near the end actually made me teary eyed for a moment because the show really made you care about John Does admiration for his car. The Easter eggs and nods to the series were the icing on top of the cake and the good thing is they never overstay their welcome and the show doesn’t rely on them too much. While it would disappoint die hard fans since there is very little car combat and it’s mainly focused on the characters, whatever combat there is however is fucking awesome and I am excited for the next season when the tournament begins.

Twisted Metal Black is my favorite Dollface's story ending with her killing the doctor, not even taking the mask off and becoming a vigilante, it's the best

I don't even remember which twisted metal I played but it was 1 of the first 2. My favorite car/character was Thumper. A Thug with a wicked sound/bass system that would throw cars like 50 ft back. I would always deliberately get chased to a cliff edge or ramp or whatever then do a 360 degree turn around the other vehicles and just launch them across the map......So much stupid fun. lol

I don't know about anyone else but the music was just so nostalgic for me. I watched this in one day. Pretty fun show. Due to only seeing her in Scream films for so long, I forgot how good of an actress Neve Campbell was. I look forward to season two in 2 to 4 years due to the ongoing writers/actors strike and Anthony Mackie’s schedule being filled with crappy MCU films.

Twisted Metal > War Thunder

Twisted metal 3 & 4 in my humble opinion I did played it all of them, but probably the best for me are this two the soundtrack the characters the fact that all the vehicles had some unique power to shot plus Rob zombie was in it, Axel was one of my favorites too and Sweet Tooth's Henchmen as the final boss was incredibly difficult back in the day but until this day I still listen the soundtrack of both games I’m planning to watch the show tho!!! Definitely brings back good memories

I loved Twisted Metal 2, playing the Paris course, blowing up the Eiffel Tower and jumping up and down the rooftops as Shadow. 😊

What now? Twisted metal has a series,? Oh my.

That final episode. Thing of beauty. Its buildup and payoff is phenomenal. You almost want to recommend just watching that but without the other episodes it doesn't hit the same. To me then that makes a good show. Hears to episodes 6-10 being a tease of what's to come in season 2.

My friend and I spent our entire 7-8th grade summer in 95 playing Twisted Metal 2 like 20 hours a day for 3 months. Mr. Slam all the way baby! Though I do love Mr. Grimm. Damn I miss that summer.

I’m excited to see what they do with Axel in the next season. One of my favorite characters, one of my favourite vehicles and despite his endings in the later games not really being very good his original ending in TM2 was f**king badass!

What surprised me is how they made an obscure character like Granny from TM3 actually had a wholesome moment in one of the episode, and Sweet Tooth having a past we can all relate to is actually surprise me. The Car combat is just cherry on top.

I grew up on Twisted Metal 2. My friends and I would play it almost every day after school, stoned out of our mind. 😂 Sad to hear Mr. Grimm isn’t in this series… yet. He was the OP character everyone wanted to play as.

I loved the fact the had Samoa Joe play Sweet Tooth. If they got him wrong I knew the show would suck but but the end of the last episode I was intrigued. At hey the tournament aspect still exist! It’s on

Your review hits all the nails. Twisted Metal Black was my favorite. When I saw Trailer for Twisted Metal 2023 I said “NO please don’t ruin this franchise by making it a cringy comedy. I watched episode 1 and by episode 2 I fell completely in love. The show is far from perfect, but in the current climate of entertainment I desperately cling to this new show. In a perfect world this show might be a 5 or 6/10 but with creativity being so flat recently, this show, for me, is a strong 8/10. The 90s references when I grew up hit my feels so hard.

A friend talked me into watching it. I'm not the biggest fan of the twisted metal games but I still really enjoyed the show. The cast is really doing so much to make the show fun, everyone seems like they are having a ball with their Chara ter and it makes the show so kuch better

I didn’t think a show would make me care about a car. As a fan of the games I loved the show. My only gripe is the stories they went with preacher and mr.slam. But I think the story they came up with worked well. Looking forward to s2

I knew of all the Twisted Metal games but never played any of them, and I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 days. They just never ticked my fancy. I heard that Peacock was doing a TM show a few months back and didn't bother looking into it until the other night, when it popped up on my screen... "ok, let me see what it's about" I thought. And all I can say is.. I LOVE IT!!! First 2 episodes were like damn! this is some filthy cheese' .. and I didn't think I would bother watching any more.. until Sweet Tooth turns up and I was like YESSS!!!! gimme more!!! I was very surprised (found out after watching all of the episodes) that Somoa Joe (one of my fav' ROH Wrestlers) was Sweet Tooth and then even more shocked when I found it that it was someone else doing the voice.. All in all, I would give this a 7 out of 10.. very enjoyable, way over the top and just fun. Can't wait for season 2. (fingers crossed)

The first 2 episodes sucked like hell

I loved it from the get go. What I remember about the first installment of TM was captured and expounded on here. I didn't think the comedy was too bad and Mackie was a perfect lead. The game was dumb fun and so is the show.

Big ups for mr Grimm. My favorite also. He is featured on the pin board in the final episode

Mr. Grimm does get a cameo at the end, actually (well, a photo of him anyway). I think my favorite joke in the series, because it *truly* understands Calypso, is when the package is revealed. And even that he had to dick with and make something the recipient wouldn't like. Avoiding spoilers here as much as possible, but such a little understated cherry on top just shows the love they had for this franchise.

I keep hearing that the show is better than expected, so I’ll definitely give it a go. It’s hard to be too interested with it though, chances are Calypso will be some push-over by S2, but we’ll see. As for the games, TM on PS3 is great. TM Black’s got a ton of story. And outside of the ‘main’ titles, Head-On was a lot of fun too. Kind of an unofficial sequel for TM2.

I was bought into it in the first episode, vehicular battle in the mall was decent and I was like ok cool, looking forward to more :) and then most of the episodes were so boring, but the last episode was definitely Twisted Metal, and then it all made sense to me at the very end, because it was all setting up to... if you've seen it you know, and I guess I kinda dug that.

Haven't watched yet but am going to now! been a TM boy since the beginning. Grimm is definitely the "man" but I love Dollface, both iterations of Black, and Mr. Ash as well. Darkside was always my go-to. Black was probably my favorite of the games. Time to dive in and, hopefully, be pleasantly surprised. Peace.
