I transferred over the GSR bearings over to the ITR LSD, the clearance was still in spec, the overall width must have been the same for each differential! This is my first time doing this so you can stay tuned and see how she holds up!

How did this hold up? I’m about to do this but not sure if to buy type R bearings or gsr! Feedback would be appreciated

@@paulyskidda387 On my install which is an ITR LSD into a 1999 B16A2 transmission I ended up using new oem ITR 19.5mm bearings on the diff in order for the diff not to scrape against the gearbox. Then for the diff thrust clearance I had to change the diff shim on my case cover. My case had a 1.45mm shim and I needed a 1.2 or 1.25mm shim to meet the 0 to 0.1mm clearance spec'd out in the factory service manual. The shims are often on back order but I lucked out and got one from a friend.

@@paulyskidda387 Also both my original open diff in the B16A S4C trans and the ITR diff I had used ball bearings, instead of the taper bearings on the early 94-97 GSR and ITR transmissions. The taper bearings are a bit of a pain to setup. Synchrotech makes a kit that upgrades to ball bearing which consists of the 2 ball bearings, 2 shims that go under the ball bearings, and the diff thrust shim. The kit is available from them or most popular retailers.

The biggest difference I would say is how the car behaves in a corner, you can really feel the point where the differential helps you grip up entering and exiting corners. I still have crazy torque steer witch I believe a more expensive clutch type LSD would work better for drag

Just wondering coz i was about to buy a final drive set from mfactory and they have one for jdm 98 spec final drive set and they also have for regular trans like gsr and b16 with 4.4 final drive. Maybe it was the shaft that’s different. But thanks bro for the info.
