Also, with the British election set for early July (and parliament to be sent home), it's 99% certain that London will try to avoid a serious escalation until after there's a new government in place: the last thing you want in Sunak's position is a war breaking out and pulling the country directly into the fire in the middle of a difficult election campaign. Sunak *knows* that more and heavier Brit involvement in the Ukraine war is a very hard sell with many people in this election. Especially if it risks Russian fire in return, directly at British assets.

In the democracy ranking by country, the US, the great dropper of democracy bombs on those who fail to bend the knee to its dictates, is in 27th place, right in the 'flawed democracy' category. Scandinavian countries are at the top of the list, as usual. In the ranking of countries by their level of corruption, Ukraine is in 159th place, just 31 places from the bottom. It has been estimated that 40% of the money and weapons given to the Ukies by the US and EU has gone missing, cannot be found. They should look in the overseas bank accounts of Zelensky and his gang of Bandera supporters.

Even if the West gave Ukraine all missiles in its entire inventory, those weapons are insufficient to destroy critical Russian military installations and logistics facilities. But, such an attack would ignite an escalation by Russia that would further decimate Ukraine. In other words, this would be a meaningless use of force. Zelensky would be better off punching a wall.

They set up this agreement long time ago, under Nuland, that Ukraine would engineer a humanitarian crisis on the Black Sea in exchange for military aid. That would enable UK/US aid beachheads. Ukraine is hardly fulfilling it's end of the agreement, but you can see a pattern of minimal effort in sync with aid packages. The very day after they sacked Nuland for failed scheme, Biden plagiarized her work by announcing an aid beachhead at Gaza.

So far he has provided 4 updates in the past 10 days or so. His work is excellent. Very balanced assessments. The videos are about 10 minutes. They are well worth subscribing to.

Like Verdun but done properly, with a huge advantage in air and artillery. Russia learns from the great battles of history, even the ones it didn't fight. The West seems to think it's fighting the same war as in Iraq, or against the militias that it subsequently had to devastate with unopposed, overwhelming firepower. My mind is continually going back to the German tank instructor telling Ukrainian tank crewman to, 'go around' a minefield... 3-4 million mines in belts hundreds of KMs long.

Actually, $288bn of Western assets looks less than $300bn of Russian assets in the West, but it's quite the opposite: Russian assets in the West are mostly of financial nature, they're loans and bonds (i.e. debts), while Western assets in Russia are mostly productive assets (factories, mines, participation in energy extraction, etc.). It's like saying that the share of GDP of Russian energy (gas...) in 2022 was about 0.3% of EU's GDP... Nope, those $288bn are worth a lot more after just 1 year than the $300bn, and the results will be catastrophic for the USA and the EU, because it's a huge base of their productive structure: Shell, BP, TotalÉnergies have big interests there, those big earners would simply collapse without their Russian income. If you look at the share price of Uniper, it didn't really survive the nationalisation of Uniper Russia... Expect that for all other companies on Russian land. Not mentioning that the LNG coming from Russia to EU from Yamal with TotalÉnergies...

I think the idea is to show Russia and Russians that there is no vital strategic purpose to Crimea. Not as a harbor for it's fleet, which is being picked off by cheap drones and it's bases which they can now attack and destroy with impunity. It's about protecting Odessa and further western expansion as well I would imagine.

Martial law can only be used to postpone Verkhovna Rada elections and is in fact issued by the president, not the constitutional court. And that is exactly the reason why martial law can't be used to postpone presidential elections, as any president could just issue martial law and stay in office as a result. Stop being silly.

ballistic missiles are hard to hit even with top-line AD systems. the ATACMS is a relatively slow missile as well and is a bright radar return target. They still get through.

Two years ago, when Ukraine's armed forces weren't depleted physically and mentally, the Kerch supply line was of critical importance to avoid a potential UKR breakthrough in the south, but now, even if the crimean air defenses fail to protect the bridge, there is NOTHING the UKR forces can do to capitalize on it, they just don't have the strength to conduct any form of offensive operations of any kind. Maybe they should use these expensive long range missiles on a different target.

I hope it's not the air base, but I feel it's the air base. Maybe the Ukrainians aren't done with krinky. Russia needs to send more of everything in that area. Ever since the first attempt we know it's not heavily protected and the commanders there don't seem to acknowledge that. Send more or they will find an opening.

@stayhungry1503 We've seen them attempting openings. Krimea has also the unfortunate fact that it is a target for so many drones. While Russia has excellent defence systems over time they have been stressed out. The need to refill that area.

How could it be, that the Ukrainian missiles could break through the Russian air defence? Have they only used their land based air defence? Why then don't they use their ships too? They must be able to count the number of missiles released by Ukraine at their start. Therefore they must be able to distribute the missiles to their different air defence units and ships.

Honestly, that would be a very good move from the russian side. Surovikin might be the best general they have. It's to the detriment to all russian soldiers involved that he is not at the head and other less competent men are in charge of so many russian lives.
