I think the game only had the capacity for 4 digits in the turning circle, so the Cheekyshima had a 11k+ circle and the game couldnt handle it. Just my hypothesis.

Just slow down in game when you need to turn. It’s only estimating the turning circle from the max speed. If you slow down in game and turn it’s not going to stay the same distance, and you can still use your speed when you need it

that french mission lasted 5 minutes for me :D. 1. hit from my 20" guns on the french super battleship was a critical on the B tower and boom went the H-Class instant kill.

The most accurate way to make a King George V-class in UA:D as of Alpha 9 is to use the US Modern Battleship II hull in Unlocked mode. It's much, MUCH more accurate than the hull and superstructure available to the Royal Navy by default.

Superheaters reheat saturated steam. First heating of the steam is called saturated. This saturated steam is fed back through the firebox for a second heating turning the steam to a hot dry gas. Superheated boiler pressures are substantially higher than non superheated boilers In some ways analogous to an afterburner in a jet engine. Superheating was a major discovery of the early Twentieth Century allowing the steam turbines in HMS Dreadnought. Eventually the jet engine was developed from experience with steam turbines. Every mechanical principal was worked out by 1930 - just refinements since. 40:20 shows a severe limitation of the game. That is the inability for either superfiring or non superfiring batteries of the same caliber to simultaneously engage different targets. In reality the situation at 40:20, those German ships would use either the secondary rangefinder or local control to target the battlecruiser with one or more of their main turrets. As Germans you're not just going to sit there and allow a Skewer tactic like this to take you out without throwing everything you have back at them. In another example which happened to me in the closing stages of a long fight, this silly limitation means (the main battery in this example is out of ammo) that if you have say a secondary battery of 8" (3 turrets each side of the ship) and there are two enemy DDs one on port, the other starboard at 5kms, then say port battery engages the port DD *while the entire right side 8" battery of the ship is silent* allowing the starboard DD to torpedo you unhindered. See what I mean?

You can run turbines on saturated steam, but it adds some complication. The steam piping needs an extensive drain network as there is continual condensation on the pipe walls. The turbine blading must be more robust, using better quality alloys and meatier components. There also need to be drains on the turbines to allow for removal of condensate from the casing during warmup. The condensor needs special consideration too as the exhaust steam is a wet vapor, a mixture of vapor and entrained liquid drops. This poses an erosion potential to the condensor tubes and is typically rectified by having solid steel rods before the tubes to absorb the impact of the droplets. I may have missed a few things, it has been a few years since I left the service, but I think I hit the major points.

Now that we have quad guns coming in... I wonder if they'll introduce low-caliber quads sometime? I mean, we have a secondary turret model based on the Bofors quad mount now (late tech 4" turret for French hulls... surprisingly, they didn't use it for 2"), using a proper quad model for a 2" gun would be about as close as we can get to putting actual Bofors guns on our ships without the introduction of actual AA. Also, I still wish we had more flexibility in placing superstructures. I still can't build an accurate Yamato or get all-forward layouts working on hulls like the N3/G3 without a massive forward weight bias or simply running out of space.

Kudos to all the improvements for alpha 9. But they still left out the part where the gun director range finders at the top of the conning tower turns with the turrets toward the target....and not just a fancy aesthetic at the top. LOL

40:22 You've been complaining a lot about the 20" guns being underwhelming, but out of the 8k damage dealt total in this battle at this point (Both your side and theirs) 5k were dealt by the 20" guns. They're the reason you're thrashing these Germans so badly.

3500tons for 16" X4 4000tons for 17" X4 4800tons for 18" X4 6100tons for 19" X4 8300tons for 20" X4 i think you get my point notice the HUGE increase in weight for the last two? take a good look at how nicely the 9" - 18" scale in firepower vs weight take a good look at how poorly the 19" and 20" sit Sure that's a lot of firepower in those 19s and 20s, but i'd take 18" X4 any day

18 inch quad turrets would be impossible triples at most the 14 inch quads never worked that well and were never very reliable so imagine if someone did try 18 inch quads the ship would constantly be in dry dock. we never even really knew how reliable the 18 inch triples were from the yamato

You mention gatling guns on ships. I would like to point out that the five-barrel Hotchkiss revolving cannon was in use during the 1880s with the Russian and American Navies.

A 16" shell like on the USS Iowa is the same weight as a VW aircooled beetle of 2,200 pound. The Yamato's were 18.1 inch, and weighed 3220 pounds. The theoretical "H" class with the theoretical 20" guns would have a shell weighing 4850 pounds with a range of 51,950 yards at an estimated 50 degree's elevation. I'm thinking it'd be suitable for the gophers in the back yard

There is little reason to be using super heavy shells if you aren't going to do long range plunging fire. Start using light or regular shells if you are going to get close for knife fights.

It's been a few days but it kinda annoys me that they changed the ranging salvo procedure just cuz ppl thought firing only 2 guns was a bug. It's not a bug, it's something that was actually done irl. There are a number of ways to range a ship but none of them involve firing full salvoes. I think I read somewhere that some ships or nations or whatever would fire one turret and then another and another in successive shots starting farthest from the rear in order to narrow in the range. Not sure if they switched to that but I hope they did

It was a bug, the issue was not the number of turrets firing, it was the number of guns on a single turret if you were using triples. Your right, half-salvoes were real methods of ranging gunfire, but you also never had a situation IRL where a turret fired only two out of three/four guns for said ranging salvoes, unless one or more of the turrets guns were jammed. As Stealth mentioned, it apparently caused situations where a ship was not putting enough shells downrange outside of ranging salvoes as well.

@@andrewlucia865 Maybe there was a bug related to it but the half salvoes and triple turrets only firing 2 rounds for ranging wasn't a bug. It was very much deliberate. I have heard differently about the turrets irl firing 2 rounds for ranging but its honestly whatever.

@@jatzi1526 Unless you can tell me a reason why they would do that IRL, and provide an actual source that shows they did that, allow me to be skeptical about that. Accurate salvos in the era generally needed a minimum of 4 shells fired downrange, the more the better. As far as I can tell there is no reason whatsoever not to fire every gun on a turret at once. I'm not disputing half salvoes as a practice that was used, what I am disputing here is that they would not have fired every gun on a triple turret. As for the game, no way was that deliberate at all. The dev's clearly meant for a turret firing a ranging salvo to fire every gun they had, and they were not always doing that, so clearly it was a bug there.

100% accuracy doesn't mean 100% chance to hit. It means the firing solution is 100% accurate, the dispersion of the guns is a different factor.

1200 shells sounds about right, Iowa class had room for 1210 16 inch shells and the Yamato class had 900 shells.

Per your concern for the Damage the French Ship causes… You’re Lucky they’re even Firing usually after the first incoming rounds hit the water around them the French would’ve tied white bedsheets to the barrels and surrender and that would be the extent of their usage…🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️😂

blenheim, which sounds german is kind of german, its named for the battle of blenheim in the war of the spanish succession in the early 18th century, a crushing victory for the british and allied force. its also why marlborough is a ship name, he was commander and commander at ramillies which also gets a ship named for it. Agincourt als got a battleship named after it, a very odd one with 7 dual 12" turrets

This just proves that fire control is the number 1, 2 and 3 on important parts of a ship. This game also does a great job showing how a Iowa, would Merck any battleship ever made. Visual range finders, Sucked on long range shots for tanks sometimes, Let alone to moving platforms shooting at each other from 20 km away where the wind direction can change 3 to 4 times and the ocean can Lyft chips 20 and 30 feet with swells. That doesn’t even include them taking evasive action. And in a tank you have the five crewman communicating with each other 3 feet away. Not radio in to each other and relaying from a spotter plane. The Iowa was faster than everything, had an effective range way better than everything, and once you locked the guns, each of them had lasers so the guns could adjust to even the smallest of movement. So it was As fast as a cruiser, had double the range of older battleships. Had much better ammunition in the Yamato because casting shells 18 inches in diameter That don’t have fractures or weak spots is a monumental task, and it was completely immune do anything smaller than a 16 inch gun. The more I think about it, it could’ve taken on multiple battleships and just kited them. To be honest the Dakotas in North Carolina could’ve done the same. And even if the Germans would’ve made their super battleships, it wouldn’t of mattered they had the same fire control as the Bismarck which was great for its time and for World War I, but it was far from the Iowa.

Yeah, something they did recently, re broke the main guns, 9 pens, of 16” super heavy’s only doing like 600 or so dmg…one shell should be doing over that on its own…and not partial or over pens.

I could see why the Ship Data Panel would simplify the Ammo Count by grouping Curret Ammo Data to Turret Types & Gun Size Groupings. However, such groupings shouldn't mean that Ammo can be shared between Turrets. Light Gun Ammo Management is a totally different thing. Generally, the Battleship is designed to punish Smaller Warships via Long-Range Shooting; that is, shooting at Smaller Warships from beyond the Weapon Range of the Smaller Warship's Main Guns. However, due to the chaos of Naval Combat, Smaller Warships can get within their Weapon Range of Enemy Battleships. Thus, the All-Big Gun-Only Warship Designs like HMS Dreadnought is impractical. Actually, HMS Dreadnought had Light Guns to deal with Unarmored Torpedo Boats; and, Underwater Torpedo Tubes (a Standard Design Practice at the turn of the 20th Century). If your Battleship can't prevent Deck Armor Penetration from Battleship Main Guns; then, your Battleship is really a Battlecruiser, no matter how big and how much Armor Weight your Warship is carrying. Reduce Belt Armor and Belt Extended Armor and Turret Armor and Secondary Gun Armor to Increase Deck Armor. Turret Top Armor should be comparable to Deck Armor for Battleship Main Gun Protection. Look at the Ammo Performance of your Battleship Guns to determine how much Armor is the Minimum Required for your Battleship. The way that your Battleship is designed, you need to charge into the Enemy Fleet in order to engage in Point Blank Gunfire Range. ¿Why even have 8-Inch Guns? You would be better off replacing the 8-Inch Guns with 5-Inch Guns in order to get the benefit of Weapons Fire Volume using HE Shells; which, would be just as devastating to Armored Cruisers as 8-Inch Guns with AP Shells. 02:07:42 Should have kept an eye on the Enemy Warship for Attack Damage Visual Effects. I designed a Nuclear Powered Battleship with 20 22 inch guns (later downgraded to 20 inch). Massive ship with 5 turrets and 4 20" in each. The ship had a secondary of 16 8" guns in 8 double-gun turrets, 4 on each side. The AA defense would be 40 Phalanx CIWS systems, 20 on each side complemented by 32 RIM-110 SAM launchers, 16 on each side. My estimated cost would be 22 billion dollars, at 1,250 feet long, at a displacement of 120,000 tons, due to the fact it has 25 inches of superstructure armor, 30 inches of turret armor, 20 inches of belt armor, 16 inches of Belt Extnd., 15 inches of deck, and 8 inches of belt Extnd. The secondaries have 10 inches of armor, with both turret types having 6 inches of roof armor. The two fictional B3G (B stands for Battleship, 3 means the generation of Battleship Naval Reactor, and the G means it's built by General Electric) reactors allow the ship to be propelled to 35 kn/h for it's size. Is it completely fictional and will it never exist? Yes. Is it extremely overcompensating for being obsolete? Yes. Will I scrap the design and make a new more feasible one? Fuck no, and I'm going to attempt to build in once I get UA: D.

20 inch quad turrets would be impossible in reality you would be able to build 20's in twins but even then I doubt how reliable the travers mechanisms would remain and the loading systems coping with 2-3 ton shells a 20 inch shell is like the size of gorilla standing up

Damage saturation? Come on, this is not World of Warships ! Damn those 20 In quad turrets weight more than the Eiffel Tower apiece. Oh this is not KGV superstructure, this is Hood's superstructure... Alsace had two project variants with triple turrets. One with triple 16 in one with triple 15 in. A Des Moines + a Venezia at any given time as secondaries. Oh those 8 in turrets should not be able to fit there... These emplacement are supposed to be filled with 5.5 in guns turrets.

a hit from a main gun, usually ends most ships. in this game.... Its just a flesh wound. I have to say, this game could have been a lot better, if the guys who created the mechanics in this game, had a clue, at all.

Yet still not are all the guns firing ...... On a four turret ship at a long range all the turrets will fire, then just the front two will fire, then all the turrets will fire, then just the front two .... and on and on .... effectively reducing your fire power by 25% and losing any long range advantage you might have had. .

I play this game and 'Ultimate General. I play the 'Total War' games. I play multiplayer in' Naval Action' So please, less of the sexism eh?

It's not sexism, it's statistics. In the 7 years that I've been doing this, only 2.3% of views on my videos comes from female viewers. When I say "I don't think there will be many ladies" I don't mean to insult, I'm just basing myself on my stats.

For example, for some of the more toxic to women games I will play under my late husbands email, to all intents and purposes, i am a guy unless I say differently; it depends on where i am posting/playing.

Per your concern for the Damage the French Ship causes… You’re Lucky they’re even Firing usually after the first incoming rounds hit the water around them the French would’ve tied white bedsheets to the barrels and surrender and that would be the extent of their usage…🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️😂
