Didn’t expect the Japanese BB to perform emergency turret ejection that early

This game really needs to increase barbette and tower placement freedom. The restrictions demonstrated in this are creativity crippling.

Hello everyone, this is Stealth. Today, I will build the USS Second Amendment for you, hope you like it

To quote Marcus from the borderlands franchise "Guns, guns, guns!" "You need them, I've got them!" "If you buy from another place I'll have you killed."

I was one of the guys who have mentioned a pitch/roll stat. Nice to hear you noticed them. But yeah, when you build super heavy BBs with a lot of guns, 30 - 40 roll/pitch is ok-ish, especialy with this amount of guns . Also it suits the the scenario - it says speciftcally to go after as many guns as possible, not after accuracy. However, i would like to give you and anyone who is interested a couple of tips to reduce the pitch/roll debuffs: Pitch: - Put main armament turrets as close as possible to the center/super structure. Downside: You will sacrifice the firing arks, make sure you have just enough angles for comfortable firing solutions. - Make center of the ship as heavy as possible. Heavy main belt/deck armor, heavy diesel engine with a lot of power (fast speed/funnels), heavy secondary armament at center, all or nothing citadel etc. all helps. - Reduce the extended armor. Like someone pointed out, historically, only crucial parts of the ship were heavily protected (with all or nothing armor scheme). I was testing 3-5" extended armor on bbs, never got flash fire or any destructive hits, only overpens. But dont quote me on this one. - Reduce the caliber of main guns. Sometimes, you can go lower caliber, which means lower weight on both ends of the ship, but still get similar performance (like 15"mk4 is alsmost as good in every aspect as 16"mk3) - Go for a longer/bigger ship hull. Yes, you will have a lot of free space on deck and a larger turn circle but the platform will become way more stable and weight distribution easier. Roll: - No wing main turrets. they will destroy your roll stat. - Heavy secondary should be put as close to centerline as possible. Preferably on superstructure or centerline barbets. - Torpedo tubes are also pretty heavy. Dont expect torpedo battleship to be particularly accurate for example. As you can see, almost every measure you can take is a bargain with other stats/gear. But i would like to see your attempt in building a "sniper battleship" in some scenario. P.S. If anyone who read this has any further tips or anything to add, please do.

The devs really just need to give players more freedom with everything as far as the ship designer is concerned.

they need to get rid of the hardpoint system and just have a grid overlay for the deck that you can snap too if you want. the hardpoint system is far to restrictive esp for barbetts

If someone closes a door too fast or bumps into the side of a corridor in the end, the entire ship will be doomed

I sent in a scenario called "centralized power" that would really fit addressing the pitch issue. Not so much the roll though. Maybe it could jump the line to address the topic.

The devs should give you a red/green scale indicator for pitch roll and fore-aft offsets. Something like ship outlines or like an artificial horizon on an aircraft

Rather rude of them bringing 20" guns... knew that you didn't have enough armor, probably would have been better off sacrificing that central turret and using the tonnage on more armor.

Yeah unfortunately 10 inches of belt on a battleship in this game isn't really considered tanky that's actually what the ww1 era british battlecruisers were sailing around with and the only one's that didn't blow were HMS Tiger and a few others if your gonna go for max tank build 15 inch is probably the largest caliber you can go with without sacrificing all other aspects of the ship highly recommend a minimum of 13 inch main & extended belt for future builds.

Youy got unlucky with the AI choice of ships, but yeah, i would say you sunk the Japanese home fleet.

Didn’t even notice till a rewatch; there are gun points at the very front and f the ship. Wont help much, but neat to know.

He forgot the little baby emplacements right at the tips of the bow and stern for 2/3 inchers!

Behind the scene Maryland wasn't scuttled after Second Battle of Guadalcanal, it was towed to nearest US Navy/Marine base and due to her damage turned into floating coastal battery.

A little scenario I thought about would be a BB with minimun armor and only the smallest caliber guns on it.

As a hobby naval engineer and historian, this hurts me physically. "Why cant i place a turret there? Why cant i place a turret here? Why dont 8inch guns fit into slots made for 40mm AA guns?" The "Empty deck space" is there because of boilers and engines below deck, by the way. They have to be put somewhere or your ship doesnt move.

The only improvement I can think of is putting the Z-Turret on top of a Barbette if possible so you could fit more 5" guns along the side of the ship without obstructing the turret's firing arcs.

I’d like to see the same battle but with a focus on survivability and less on secondaries. Maybe bigger main guns. I’d say you could pull it off then.

Think of the center of mass of the battleship. The main/secondary tower in later tech tends to be close to the center of the ship so they will not affect the pitch and roll much. Pitch is affected by the heavy objects placed at the bow/stern of the ship away from the center of mass - mostly centerline guns Likewise the roll is affected by heavy objects placed at the poert/starboard side of the ship - mostly heavy secondaries and wing turrets

Not saying it’s a good idea to split your fire all the time, but when the Akagi was angled you should have fired at the one giving you full broadsides.

I mean, I see it like this. If there's 4+ of these ships, they're going to WRECK HOUSE. 2 wrecked house as is, but FOUR?... This design is the kinda design that made Yamato so strong, big, bulky, but LOADED with guns.

Battleship conning towers weighed hundreds of tons. 1 ton for every inch of armor is just ridiculous. The british even dropped them entirely after WWI, because they were not used and weren't really efective.

If you're that close you can probably cut big chunks off your deck armour. Unless they're firing mortars at you, nothing's going to come crashing down into your deck...

I think this would be a lose lose situation, because the Japanese lost two BB's equaling to about 240,000 tons and the US basically lost both BB's because I mean, it barely floats and If a storm hits or you run out of fuel, which is possible counting 2 out of the 3 engines are dead. That BB may as well call for destroyers and get picked up to go home.

These two ships were probably the most poorly protected battleships. 10 inches of armor? No wonder they sank. But, Armaments on those things are ridiculous lol. Anyway great video.

It looks like a mix of the Nelson and the Uss Florida

In regards to the pitchbof the ship, you have a tendency to move you main battery as far apart as possible trying to fix the weight offset. This you eng up with main battery spead out one the ends of the ship instead of grouped in the middle. You want them as close together as possible on the center line.

Stealth, you need to start putting on more deck and top turret armor, deck armor would have helped with those shells coming in from above

Pitch and roll seem entirely there to try and make you limit guns added but not really enough of an issue to outweigh the benefits of more gun

Could redo this, rule out enemy torpedoes, saving on the protection and making it possible to start off at point blank distance

It’s really odd that 30-some 20s got put down by 40 16s, especially when maneuvering wasn’t much of an option and they had dozens of smaller barrels plus torpedo launchers thrown in to boot.

Should have sacrificed that restricted rear turret for more armor and better stability, also lose that rear bartbett so only two quad 16 inch in rear no Barnett lot more armor.

I'm highly disappointed that I'll never be able to play this game seeing as though it'll never be on Consoles and I cant afford to buy a PC anytime soon. 😔 The closest I can get is WoWs Legends but its cancer.
