Very useful tutorial, I got one question about the cloning software. I separated the hard drive with C:/, D:/ and E:/ for different purpose and does the software clone the partitions to the ssd?

@HalfAzNPersuasioN go into the bios, select AHCI (very important), make the SSD the boot drive. Do a fresh install of everything you can. Once your satisfied you have everything you want off the HDD, you can go to "my computer" right click the HDD and click format. Don't do a quick format. This can take up to twelve hours to do

Mmm SSD should be day & night vs HDD, doesn't matter what CPU or other parts you have, opening programs & starting windows should be a fraction of the time, provided the SSD is a decent one and not full as performance decreases with size filled

I wish I would have known about the EZ Gig IV software. I tried to clone my Alienware 13 laptop hard drive with three or four different free cloning programs with no success. I heard that you can't clone to a Crucial SSD in an Alienware 13 so I bought a Samsung and it still didn't clone. I ended up using the Respawn Install flash drive for Alienware 13 and had to do it in Legacy bios mode.

Cloning a HDD to an SSD is a really bad move as the HDD works in a totaly different way TRIM and other SSD features wont be used as the windows still thinks its running off a HDD, reinstall windows if you get a SSD.
