The fact that you have connections with a body shop and are willing to suggest that avenue, is great! Like the Nissan; rather then give up, you merely stated that the frame needed to be straightened. You're an honest man Wes and a top shelf mechanic. Your videos make my day. Stay well.

When I was 17, I fixed an old Mercury Sable with similar damage. I tied the front support to a tree with a rope, and slowly yanked it in reverse until I pulled it around to where the bolts would line up. It wasn't exactly perfect, but at least everything bolted back on and covered it up nicely. These guys didn't even attempt to get it right. smh..

Hey Wes, I am a retired W. WI deputy who got comfy early working with WSP MV inspectors who do everything from truck inforcement to dealer complaints. Before I retired, IL dealers near the border used to buy reams of blank WI used car window inspection sheets and advertise that their cars were inspected up to WI state standards. I got a WI dealer's licence put onto double-secret probation when they sold a kid a POC Camaro off their lot premises but with the sticker still attached. He drove it 14 miles and the LF A-frame detached at about 40 MPH. I worked the accident and called my fav inspector who issued 3 grand in citations and did a 2 year audit of the dealer. Word got around and the next year the local dealer's association withheld their fifty dollar gratuity to the Policeman's benefit-all my fault. 😂😂😂😂😂

We as mechanics get to see more than our fair share of crappy body work/repair. Body man had used entire roll of electrical tape on wiring then hung the new rt ft fender over the mess. I fixed his CEL and driveability problems by removing the inner fender, the tape, and splicing several cut wires caused by the wreck.Body shop owner brought me the car. That's just one of many....Rainy day no run F 150 had the cracked windshield replaced, then it leaked water into left front kick panel, filled ECM with water. I could go on......

All too often, insurance just sends a check for what the BS (body shop) bills, less the deductible. Customer just sees the outside, not the inside. Usually while griping about paying the deductible, and taxes, and having had to wait ddd days with a rent car or loaner while the shop worked. Body Shops are under considerable time pressure to get work out the door fast, sometimes faster than the paint or top coats have time to dry. Sometimes the employees are burnt out and just don't care.

As expected, repaired properly. I imagine it would have been possible to continue along the same trajectory and bend some new lines so they wouldn’t rub, etc., however you really can’t guarantee that sort of work (or have any desire to associate your shop with that sort of thing). In this case the customer apparently had the means to fix it properly, but I feel bad for those who don’t and would have been in a real bind here.

Hello, I'd like to add something to the whole 1234-yf thing. I'm an apprentice in my 2nd year at a ford dealership in germany. We also have such a "Robinair" machine, but a different model. Ours is able to inject oil, the uv-dye and a special non conductive oil you need for vehicles with high voltage a/c compressors, which are in ev's and some hybrid vehicles. So yea, I don't know how it is for you in the usa but we have such machines over here. And yea, the whole put in pull out deal is normal, I once asked someone at our shop and got the answer it is supposed to get a charge which is more precise in terms of actual refrigerant charged into the system. Oh and, yea. Our Robinair machine recently made a bang noise and was dead. A tech replaced the inbuilt power supply and the logicboard, hope it doesnt happen to you. Anyways, keep up the good work. Greetings from Germany ~Marek

At the shop where I work, we got the exact same 1234 machine. Let me tell you a story about it...When we got it, I was tasked with filling the internal tank. As you well know, that 1234 gas is insanely expensive, I believe it was 800 bucks Canadian for a 10 pound bottle. Well, I started up the process and went to do something else while it filled. Then I heard a hissing sound a while later, the bottle was almost empty. I opened up the brand spanking new machine only to discover they had shipped it with a completely loosened fitting inside it, the entire 10 pounds of precious 1234 had disappeared in the atmosphere. Needless to say, my boss was NOT happy....they ended up refunding us, but it took a whole lot of persuading and ultimately a lawyer threat to get them to do it. Like Wes says, new doesn't mean good...

Related to the f700 video that had some wiring comments. An Everett based plane builder does not allow twisting of the conductors. A unit measurement is assigned to each size of wire. Same for the splices/terminals.(think area). You can jam as many conductors as you like, as long as the minimum and maximum area units are maintained. Hope that helps you sleep better. Great videos. The second was everything in this video, along with a new Grill, AC Condensor, Rad, Active shutters, and something with the turbo, long story short the itemized bill was ten pages long. It was $14K for the bodyshop, 5 Months in the shop, and another $5K for a rental, all covered by Insurance. 3:13 Had this happen to me once. Was doing an aftertreatment update on a neighboring shops service truck (still haven't figured out why the Komatsu dealer techs couldn't do the work on their own service truck 🤷‍♂) ; was supposed to get an updated wire harness for it. Cummins sent me a box with the correct part number on the label and all that; inside the box was a set of piston rings.

Bravo Wes for your expertise ! It is deplorable to see garages that work in this way (...) Thank goodness you stepped in and were able to to see this carnage !... I think that in the future this customer will know where to turn to have his car repaired ;-) (video a bit short, too bad...) JC

Yep ac work and the Bermuda Triangle go hand in hand. I have been working on my RV’s basement unit and want to put the motor home into the Bermuda Triangle. I feel like they started with the ac unit and built a motor home around it. 🤬🤬
