Pretty good brand that by now cleaned all the lineup everything is solid for the price, my favorite product from them is the Tackle box at the price I get them 12/13€ they work wonders for BFS hard baits.

Nice, my favourite part about the reel is the drag sound. I just put up a short 2 days ago of a barracuda on a 1.2kg leader. Went in a couple of runs. Also, I never did it in the past but I can cast it and flip the bail arm with my index finger from my casting hand.

The stickers are to remember what line is on and when you put it on - fits under the foot of the reel.

Nice, thanks for that. Yea sometimes it can get confusing if the have the same line in some different breaking strains and you might want to swap lines to another reel.

Great review Jacob, the reel looks good but the rod looks very good. You’ll love that rod for working plastics precisely and twitching small jerkbaits. I’ve got a rod with similar specs, the Edge ISR701 which is 7’0 4-6lb 1/8-3/16oz Extra fast and I love it

Hopefully I can Christen it this weekend with a good fish. I've caught dinks on it but I really want a nice brown trout. Will suit the market the rod is targeted towards. They also have a 7'2 version and a short UL version that would be nice to try.

For a 1000 size reel the shallow spools and extra big drag washes are awsome. That rod looks very clean and really nice once you go over 7'6"ft you never go back 😂. What do the drag washes mesure (metal washes)? I knoticed my older style deep spool reels in 4000 size have 21mm (8.5kg drag). My legalis lt 2500 has 23mm (10kg drag). The handing m1 3000 has a 19mm (claimed 10kg drag). You can tell by the drag washer size roughly how much it will handle. The handing m1 3000 i would expect more around ~7kg which i am happy with.

Is the size of reel comparable to lanius?

This kestrel reel is actually a little smaller than the 800 Lanius. I believe the body is closer to a 500 than a 1000. If you check my Instagram or Facebook page over the next few days I will take some comparison photos.

hey I just compared them side by side, the Kestrel is slightly smaller but the spool sizes are more or less the same. I think the Kestrel 1000 is more of a 500 sized body. Its just a little shorter than the lanius.

How fast is fast? very interesting rod, this one I can get in Portugal but for some reason not the casting version.

I would say it's not extra fast, not as fast as an ultima or zero. It's similar to a resolute. I can send you some photos.

@@yep.fishing God no, I tried the plastics and still don't understand how can someone pass the Strike King(as an example in Portugal Zoom is more expensive than Googan and Strike King) soft plastics that are cheaper and better to get that, they fall apart so fast.

The daiwa legalisteel and daiwa presso rod is a much better combo for half the price.

Are you talking USD? If you know where to look you can get the reel for 45 and I'm sure the rod is as good or better than an entry level presso.
