www.figureitoutproductions.com In this video I pick up a box of various broken Sega consoles for $40 and I do my best to repair them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.

I remember a few years ago when I bought a 'broken' original DS from Amazon or Ebay (can't remember which one) it only cost £30 which at the time was a bargain - it also came with the box and accessories and it turned out the only problem it had was is that it wasn't charged. Gave me a good chuckle and a DS :D!

Something similar to what happened to your Saturn happened to my Dreamcast. One day it stopped displaying things on the TV, I mean it turned on, the disc spinned and everything but, no video. I opened it up clean everything, check cables etc and nothing. So I was almost ready to give up on it and I had the stupid idea of touching most of the contacts on all of the chips of the mother board while the system was on and one of the chips sparked, and that fixed it!!! These Sega console are really tough!!!

That's the goal with these, and all the restoration videos. Save as many as I can. That doesn't sound pathetic, it's totally true. Will do, thanks for watching!

That Saturn fix reminded me of a similar "accidental" fix on my 86 BMW project car. It was idling like crap and while troubleshooting I caused one of the sensors to arc, and VIOLA! It's run like a champ for the last 2 years. Electronics are 10% science, and 90% magic. Keep up the good work man I can't get enough of your videos.

It's true, you can't kill a Sega! After watching this, it inspired me to take my Sega CD model 2 out of storage, which I had accidentally dropped out of the back of my car a few months earlier. I had no hopes of it working, given the height it was dropped from. Well, I stripped it, cleaned it and reassembled it. I then plugged in my Mega Drive model 1 and tested it thoroughly and it works like a charm. Quiet as hell too as I re-greased the CD track/cogs! Long live Sega!!!
@televisionandcheese7 жыл бұрын
I had a European Genesis. Mega drive I think it was called here. Was killed by a thrown Lego house by a sibling. :( When we tried to turn it on, we only got a buzz noise from speakers, and no picture on the TV. Took it apart to try to fix a few times but never helped. Not sure where it is now. Probably thrown away in 2004ish.

In my area, people assume that if a system is older than a PS3/360, its automatically broken and useless. Funny how people's minds work, isn't it?

Yep.

Iv heard America generally has more of throw away culture than Other places so that's maybe the problem, but good for collectors to get things cheap!
@officialclownbusiness77887 жыл бұрын
Darren Connelly yep, I'm an east coast American, and I can confirm this. I've gotten big stereos, CRT televisions, antique furniture, bicycles, tools, books, movies, games, and even a full sized electric organ from the 70's for free simply for dragging them home from the side of the road! I've even had a bike that I customized with parts from other bikes, rode around town for about two years, and sold for $100, and I never spent a single dime on it, just grabbed it from the trash! Some see our throwaway culture as being very wasteful, but guys like me, who enjoy collecting, tinkering, modifying, and getting stuff for free absolutely love it.

Did you know that Sega actually feeds off the life force of gamers? They made a backup that if the hardware wore down too much it'd drain your lifeforce and it'll rejuvenate the components. It was so old that in no longer could drain from the controllers/console. You had to bridge your energy from the inside. Logics and stuff. Sweet. Great to know the little quick fixes that can make old consoles work, great video.

Man, that is one lucky find. I totally want a Sega Nomad now. I heard about it before hand, but I never really caught on to how awesome a portable Genesis is. On that note, I have a Game Gear that has a similar issue to the one you have here, although the last time I tried it, I couldn't make out any details on the screen. It coincidentally doesn't output any audio either though, so hey, now I know what the issue could be.
