Nick! These look absolutely amazing, and am glad you have a chance to own a pair of boots with your name on em’. I’m glad you brought up Whites Boots as well because I was stuck between the Nicks and Whites boots a few years ago, but ended up going with the Whites MP. Nicks have a more rugged design (form follows function with their boots) while the Whits have an aesthetic catered to us Urban-Dwellers a bit more. Great video, man! 🤙🏽

I've had my Roberts for a couple months now. I sprung for the W&C Medium Brown bridle leather and they're 8" height so yeah, still quite a bit of break in to do (they only get 1-2 wears a week). But, I absolutely love them. My "meatiest" pair to date that are absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy your Urban Loggers! I went back and forth between those and the Roberts for a while before pulling the trigger... 6 months before I got em.

Just got the”Robert” in Predator Orange color and absolutely love them. Getting the”Urban Logger” for Christmas, trying to decide which leather to try. I think Nick’s boots are the best boots on earth. I ordered the same size as all my other brands of boots and they fitted true to size. The arch was a bit different and has taken some time to get used to but has quickly become my favorite boots by a long shot.

Got the urban drifter with moderate heel height and the chrome xl is buttery from the start. Little break-in. Fit is comfortably snug around arch with no hot spots. Surprisingly, they look good with casual pants on the town, even with the aggressive lugs. I’ll be testing them on a mountain hike this month. If they past that test I’ll crown them “most versatile”.

Having bought my Nicks Builder Pros late last year (end September, early October I think?) I got them in April of this year, and there have only been maybe four days since then that I’ve worn any other shoe at all (excepting the days when I don’t go out and therefore don’t need shoes on) and honestly, beyond breaking in the leather at the ankle, allowing me to actually walk (which honestly only really took all of two weeks) there’s been virtually no break in at all. I was expecting a lot of discomfort and some blisters and things, but even though they’re about a half size too long, the only real pain or discomfort I’ve had is down to issues with my feet rather than the boots themselves. In terms of protection, so far they’ve protected me from hatchet and axe blows to the ankle when the edge has bounced/skipped off logs, they’ve saved me from catching fire whilst trying to put out an out-of-control bonfire, they’ve kept my feet dry in torrential rain, and most importantly, they not only keep metal shards out of my socks, but I don’t dread putting them on in the morning and I’m in no rush to get them off at the end of the day (so much so that I’ve even slept in them after a particularly hard day where I got home and just passed out) To sum up, for AUD$1300 and change (accounting for exchange rate and shipping) this is *the* best investment I’ve made to date. And the customer service team have (in my experience) gone above and beyond. 11/10, would recommend

@@Stridewise I don't own any, but from everything I've seen on them, they're built extremely well, and on par with the heritage boots made by Nick's, Frank's, and White's. Truman is definitely on my list of boots to save up for. Probably a 20 last if I don't get a viberg 310 first. I really like sprung and bumped toe boxes, but I do like the overall aesthetics of most the Trueman's builds. They've got great leather options, and they pair their stitching just right.

@@Stridewise I have two pair of Truman's and one pair of White's. I love my Truman's and they fit my foot well, but White's (I don't have any Nick's) are next level. The midsoles and arch are something Truman can't match. (To be fair, I don't think that is Truman's goal.) I don't own a pair, but the White's semi dress is the best fitting boot I've ever tried on.

@@Stridewise Having White's, Nick's, and Truman's, my thoughts are they arnt as robust and industrial work centered like Nick's are. They have that more sleek look for urban wear. I've owned a pair of Roberts in Predator Orange for about a year now, and they're pretty great. The leather is very forgiving and any marks can be polished away pretty easily, and the build quality is fantastic. But I also got a pair of White's MP boots in Olive Waxed Flesh on the 50/50 last a few months ago, and I think I actually prefer them. The single row of stitching allows the narrower toe box to be much sleeker, and the heel isn't quite so extreme. I also simply adore the Olive Waxed Flesh. But even though I prefer the MPs, they're very different boots and I'm ultimately glad that I own both. Edit: At their heart they really are very different boots. The Robert is a churched-up work boot with options for a more casual leather and outsole, but still built like a tank and with an emphasis more on ruggedness than refinement. The MP feels like a much more casual boot with great build quality.

I have a pair of Urban Loggers in Wickett & Craig veg tan leather. And a pair of Robert in the 1964 leather. I found the 1964 leather fairly easy to break-in despite the thickness of the leather. @@couchsofa2977 the break-in for the Urban Loggers was a little more difficult because the veg tan leather was stiffer than the 1964, and because of the aggressive V100 lug soles. The big, hard, lugs have little give and when walking on a hard surface, you start to feel it after a while...

Because of the craftmanship and the materials they are definetly worth the money. No doubt. But to be honest, in these pair of boots I would rather feel like a drag queen. They simply look funny on feet.

I want to buy a pair of Nicks or White’s for my next safety toe boots. My company will pay $220 if I buy boots every two years so that’ll make it easier to sell to my wife 🤣

No reason to rip on you for getting quality footwear. My Builder Pros turned out to not quite be ideal for my work environment, but they are an outstanding boot. Defiantly my go to when it’s going to be a heavy day on my feet. Going to get a pair of the Wedge Workers that will be more suitable to the slick concrete floors I work on.

Something to look into is a dual wedge and lug outsole construction. Saw a video here in YT of a cobbler doing this. And they look so JUICY and THICCC ... lol

If anyone likes the looks of logger boots, but like me you have no practical need for them to justify the price, check out Thursday loggers.

I feel cheated!! I was looking forward to your screaming like a fox with its foot in a trap the first time you laced these up and tried to stand. My Nicks are 10" (and they have "Nicks" embossed near the top) but they hurt like nothing I'd ever experienced before when I first put them on. It's been months now and they are finally moving from "pain" to "tolerable" and I really look forward to something in the vicinity of "comfortable". But I'm 65 and I might not live that long! Hint, buy Nicks when you are young so you can get them re-soled a few times, finally amortize the purchase with years of use, be able to survive the initial ankle torture, and have the leg strength to lift your feet!. But they are pretty and super tough.

Yall lying! Mine took almost a year to break in standing on concrete everyday. 10 hours a day 63 hours a week. I do wear a piece of leather over them to protect from welding splatter.

Why would anyone rip on Nick for waiting so long to get a pair Nicks? It's not Nick's fault that it took this long for Grant from Nicks Boots to get around to buying a review from Stridewise. BUT, little did Grant know, Thursday Boots already claimed ownership of Nick with a trampstamp of their logo and "I Heart TB" above it at the bottom of Nick's back. But still not a waste of a free pair of 600 ducks boots.

‘Rack off, Bouncer!’ Sorry, just had to get that out of my system after the ‘g’day’ thing at the beginning of the video there. 😁 What incredible boots. I wish I could justify buying a pair of Nicks or Whites boots. I think these will be the kind of boots I aspire to own but never buy.

Your body heat does more to break in the boot than anything else. Do not use conditioners to soften the leather. Use subtle heat. Have you ever had a barber wrap your face in a hot towel before a shave? Do that with these boots on your feet! The heat will soften the leather and you will be able to reshape the leather to your foot, ankle, and shin. If you ever watch a Nicks “how its made video” the lasting process is described as “wet lasting.”

Gotta be honest dude... They look SUUUUPER dumb in your skinny jeans (slim?)... I'd consider wearing them with straights or maybe boot cut. It's just not a boot that's meant for super fashiony/fancy people.
