I’m walking the 103km Thames path Ultra in September, which as you know is very flat. I did it last year in Skechers max cushioning running shoes, which did ok, but the constant repetitive stride, really hit my heels, calves, hams, lower back and glutes. I was thinking a rocker shoe might help with the constant flat surface? I am an over pronator and wear lynco sports orthotics. Any advice would be welcome, thank you.

Me too I made the mistake of buying the Machina, because I saw some very encouraging reviews (must've been sponsored!!) AND I got it at 67% off... the only positives I can say is they work well in the gym for Pump class + 8km on the treadmill and they look good with my skinny jeans!

I own the UA HOVR Sonic 4 and HOVR Machina 2 shoes and have no complaints whatsoever. Run 40-50km a week. Also use/have used Mizuno, Nike, Asics, Brooks and Adidas and find the UA to be just as good.

Fordy, the UA flow velocity se is a wonderful shoe. Worth a try and review. I own 3 pairs and love them

"Why not just get the app on your phone and do it on your phone." Because the app doesn't start automatically. Sometime I don't go out of my way to remember to go in app and press "start workout". But the shoes will track a workout regardless. It will also track every step/walk you take without having to go through app. Also the shoes have a coach that tell you have to adjust your form for better running and improving cadence. Sounds like you haven't actually tested out the shoes with app, you're complaining more about the price for the value. Something I don't care about because I get them for 40% off with my discount anyways. Bottom line is they are good shoes. I have less fatigue when running in them, whether it is via track or treadmill.

One of the fastest guys in my local club runs in these for everything, so I tried a pair on at a shop and thought “I’ll just buy some new socks” 😂

@@FordyRuns You are easily the most negative reviewer I’ve seen on the platform, but when someone calls you out, you just say you’re honest. I understand you not liking some shoes, but there’s a way of getting your points across without being so unbelievably rude towards the brands and products. Like dude - human beings build these products with good intentions, and just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean that everyone should avoid it. If you think “negative” and “honest” cant be separated watch other reviewers handle shoes they didn’t like.

@@percrunner1433 thanks for the feedback. I wouldn’t comment back if I wasn’t bothered. You make some interesting points which I’ll take on bored. My intention is not to be rude but to be to the point and call it how it is. You may call this rude or negative but it’s just talking straight from my side. There is a lot on KZfaq and outside of that where people are sent so much kit for free to make reviews. If they don’t make nice comments they don’t get more stuff which we see way too much of, it’s almost scripted. I don’t think you take into account the positive reviews I make you focus on the negative which is easy to do when criticising someone which I think you want to do here. I love construction criticism but I don’t think you are basing your comments on all my videos, just the ones you don’t like my opinion on. Again thanks for the feedback and I will take into account your input despite it coming across rude which I’m sure is not intended.

@@FordyRuns I don’t particularly like Brooks shoes, but you’ve been overly harsh towards them. Other shoes I agree with you on is the Endorphin Shift 2 and the Ultraboost 22, but to say those shoes shouldn’t exist is silly. Lots of runners will find enjoyment in them. I agree with a lot of your takes (though I admittedly do weirdly like this shoe a lot). I don’t love the Endorphin Speed, but I respect that you like it. I agree that a lot of other channels seem a bit too positive at times, but I think there’s a balance that should be found.

when they were spending money so willie nillie.., why didn’t they buy a really good foam from a chemical company, for their max cushion shoe.., it would have been money better spent, than some of the other things they bought during that period

Tried the Machina 2 which was the worst shoe I have ever put on my feet. Caused cramp down the outside edge among other pains and that was just on a 30 minute dog walk. UA Sonic 3 and 4 are very underrated shoes. I loved them, still do but can’t find them, think I accidentally put them in a bag of other shoes for a charity shop 😂

I agree with your review, you should get a reward for the honesty :). What U.A. did wrong with the Machina range is that instead of lowering the weight, they added some. I own the Machina 1, got 1098 km in them, I have no complains, it's not a fast shoe but it's almost like a tank, it has a great durability. I hoped that Machina 2 and 3 would be lighter but they are not, Machina one size 8 UK(42,5eu/9US) is aprox. 300gr and the 3 is 340-360 gr., that's huge for a running shoe promoted by the producer as a fast mileage shoe: BOLD + SPRINGY, that's totally false! You asked about a good shoe from U.A.: it's Lightning 2, I had two pairs, it's their best shoe on my opinion, too bad it got discontinued. Also a good shoe it's Sonic 4, very confortable and lighter than Machina, it has map my run connectivity just as machina and it's quite cheaper.

Rubbish indeed! Definitely a brick in my book... all hovr shoes are the same, lifeless, boring and useless. Went through 3 different models and promised myself never again.

Haha yep the 2 was terrible also. Cut my feet up along side of foot. I’m literally just wearing them on short 5km runs to get my moneys worth now as you can get away with it on short runs but anything more and your feet start to shred.
