At some point in your life, you have to make a point to view the northern lights from a northerly location.... watching the lights dance overhead is one of the most awe inspiring shows mother nature has to offer. In this video I chase the Aurora over two days in Iceland, and am greeted with the craziest show I have ever witnessed..

Wow, I think the hardest part of nature photography is that you can't ask nature to pose for you. Instead you have to wait as long as you get what you want from the chaos of nature and take too many photos. Good job Nick @nickpage

That last image of the arching aurora over Kirkjufell...just ...wow. I really enjoyed this well made short video. Nice music selection to go with the time lapses. It was great to watch an experiential video like this where the videographer was immersed in the joy of witnessing the aurora.

A similar thing happened to me 4yrs ago over Kirkjufell. The night started very quietly with only a few green lights and then the show really started and it was crazy. From 25s exposure, we had to go to less than 1s. It was super light. We left 3h later but it was still ongoing. Hope to live that again this week in Finland.

Killer images Nick! Reminds me of living in Anchorage, AK. Never seen the lights to the south but one time they were directly overhead. Instead of sheets of light across the sky it was like millions of shafts of light coming straight down at us.

Hmmm... never been to Iceland, but 6 below zero -- C or F -- is surprising (to me at least) to be considered unusually cold. After all, it's Iceland, it's winter, it waaay north! 😀 When it gets -40F at times in Minnesota (I don't live there, just mentioning for comparison), I would've expected Iceland to be right up, or down, there, too. Very nice video and images, good to see you "back".

Iceland is kept fairly temperate by the Northern Ocean and the gulf stream, typically in the winter it hovers just under freezing or just above, but seldom gets down to zero F...
