Union Pacific 844 to Boise, Idaho

7 жыл бұрынIn this video, we observe as the Union Pacific Steam Program blasts across the Idaho prairie with the UP 844 and the 2017 Boise Turn Special. The day's final destination? The famous Union Pacific Depot in Boise. Various scenes include the whistling of the blue flag in Glenns Ferry, running along next to the highway near Mountain Home, and turning on the wye at Orchard for the 30+ mile long shove into Nampa. From there, we start ahead off of Union Pacific trackage, and on towards a crowd of thousands at Boise. This proved to be a very successful train trip for all involved! Rate. Comment. Subscribe. I think it is great that UP restored the Big Boy, but to me UP 844 is the greatest of them all. She is in a class all by herself.

My grandpa Fred W. Lance worked his way up to Engineer from the steam days with the UPRR. He lived in Nampa and drove the PFE,he was also instrumental in having that steam locomotive engine dedicated to Lake View Park in Nampa .

Nick, thanks for your service in making all these videos available. I will be excited to see the Big Boy soon, but I will always regard the 844 as a beautifully proportioned, powerful, grand dame of the steam era, and great ambassador for the glory of the steam era--still living in our time.

Lol I was there in Nampa (on the other side, near the tree). It was AWESOME. Saw it in Boise the next day too.

I was there on April 22 when it pulled into that depot and we were waiting for along time and a C45AH 8235 came in before 844
