Ann expands her experimentation with mixing clay bodies to create an agateware-ish design on bowls. There are several unique techniques shared in this video that you can apply to many aspects of your craft...or you can just watch Ann work! Relaxing!
We typically bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5
These bowls were glazed with Amaco c-10 Clear and Ann's White Liner Glaze

Sometimes I watch with the volume off or down. So happy I had it up on this one. Your “boop” was so fun, I found myself chuckling. And then you did too! Love this as much as the great technique.

Haha!!! Jim gave me the video to write the script with and I couldnt resist putting in the "beep". I didnt think he would keep that in the video, haha. As for the shirt, Jim took that picture when we did the video of the altered rims and it was just so great! He then made it into a shirt for me. I think he said he put the link to the shirt in the description if anyone else wanted one.

Oh my! Really loving these mixed clay creations! They must have taken so long to perfect. I bet this method would look neat when done with colored clays too! The zig zag one would be adorable in Easter colors cut into an egg shape. Thanks for the great ideas. Your videos always inspire me to get back to creating in my own studio. Thanks Ann! (& Jim) 🌺😊

Those are just cool! I love that both colors show on the back also. Those 2 zigzag patterns would look great as a platter or long flat serving dish. You could also make mountains or sea waves like that with different colored clay. What fun!🐝🤗❤️

Great video. Just wondering why you never showed how you finished the rim of the bowl with the brown clay. Wouldn't it have been easier to score and slip the brown rim before you put it in the mold?
@annruel1982

Hi Juanita. We had a very busy week and ran out of time to add the extras of adding rims and feet. I would have to really think about how to attach that rim while in the mold itself. I bet you are right, that you could do that. The way I created the foot, was to roll out a slab, then put it on a bat on the wheel and cut a small donut shape out of the slab. I then centered the bowl on top of that donut. For the rim. I rolled out a slab and placed it on top of the bowl. I pushed down on the top of the slab to connect it to the rim of the bowl, then cut the excess clay away , just leaving the clay on top of the rim. Thats it 🙂

Spectacular as always! I've seen you answer others already about this, but I would love to see your technique for attaching feet and rims to these slumped bowls. I've been using the foam press method to make plates and bowls recently, and I'm not happy with the feet attachment I'm getting.
