Very much tied to environmental factors. It's why I go back to the same locations over and over to get the right conditions.

Hi Jenn, yes, that's a fantastic way to "understand" a location and to get really clear about your emotions. Thank you for your insights 😊 Enjoy your Sunday, Christian

Thank you for this video. One thing I’m learning about myself is that when I look at a photo, I immediately begin to evaluate it based on composition, light, contrast, etc. When you posted the images and asked us to note our emotions, I had a difficult time putting aside my evaluation. I once read that we need to “step” into the photo and imagine ourselves in the location at the moment you press the shutter button. I’m going to have to practice that skill. The first shot - I felt the fear of impending storm and being exposed to danger. After this I paused the video before listening to your comments. Second shot- curiosity of what the mist was hiding, didn’t think about a bear until you mentioned it. Third - hope. I usually feel more hopeful in the spring when the wildflowers are in bloom. With the fallen tree, it contrasted new life and death. This was a good exercise for me to stop and not look at all the technical elements of the photos, but look deeper. Have a great day!

Hi Gary, I think, what you are describing here is something most photographers have experienced already. We see lines, shapes, and patterns instead of a beautiful scenery. I mean, we also see the scenery, of course, but we reduce it too fast to the "photographic elements". What a random, by the way: I went a bit more in detail about that in my last week's video where I talked about the number 1 mistake in composition 😊 And that's really a nice idea to think about being there and taking the shot when you are looking at a photo. I like that. Thank you for sharing this here and also for your insights of your emotions 😉 Have a great Sunday, Christian

Great video and examples Christian. I think emotionally looking at your images I feel peace and serenity. I guess not emotions like happy, anger, sad. More a feeling of contentment and relaxation. Well done buddy 🙏

Hi Adrian, thanks a lot for your insights, buddy! It is really interesting how different the perception between viewers can be, isn't it? 🙂 Enjoy your Sunday, Christian

1: dont feel anything a dentist picture, 2: feel at home and relaxed, 3: dont feel anything just a spring picture

Hi Thomas, thank you so much for your interesting comment, my friend! It is indeed like that: when a viewer doesn't feel all too related to a subject, to a scenery, or to a story, then there is also not much of emotion evoked, of course. I liked your comparision to a dentist image. It seems I have a new target group, haha 😆 Nice greetings, Christian
