I saw Karolina play that way again Elena Rybakina this season, she never gives up. Really happy for her, she seems like a very down to earth individual. This is great for the game 👏👏

She is down-to-earth. I listened to a long Czech interview with her last year during AO when she was sidelined by injury and couldn't defend her SF spot from the year before. She came across as a very normal girl and a hard-working athlete itching to play tournaments again.

I mean, this is ridiculous. Sabalenka‘s grunt continues even after the ball passed the net, and often still when her opponent is in the motion to hit her stroke. This is CLEAR hindrance! I do not understand the lack of application of rules by the umpires. The noise/sound of any (natural) effort-based grunting must stop, once the ball passes the net. That simple!

Agreed. She also often begins a second noise, scream, grunt just as her opponent hits the ball too. It is cheating and annoying for the spectators too.

It often continues until the ball has returned to her side; never witnessed anything like it. She even does it on blocked service returns.

Imagine a country with as many inhabitants as London producing 10 female Slam finalists in the modern era (Mandlikova, Navratilova, Sukova, Novotna, Kvitova, Pliskova, Safarova, Vondrousova, Krejcikova, Muchova). This case has to be studied: they're either born with special tennis genes over there (but mainly the females), or they have the better youth tennis schools in the world (but only for females, again)

I really can`t help but being super happy that the quite girl won over the super loud und super prolonged grunter...that´s just too much from Sabalenka IMHO....and I really do hope that there will be some sort of regulation in the future that will be limiting that to a certain volume und duration...especially to "protect" the opponent from too much of that...

Seriously, you may be partly right. Having said that, some players are almost fuelled by their own grunting. It's like it generates its own energy. Monica Seles used to be like that and she just didn't ever seem to fade in a match.

Great match that had everything. When Saba was serving for the match at 5 - 3 in the third set I thought it was over but Muchova toppled her just in time. Saba collapsed after that and it was an amazing finish. I haven't seen a match like this in a long time.

Now I understand how Muchova was able to win against Pavlyuchenkova. She simply was the better player. And in this match too she was the better player. Her powerful mental fortitude was what allowed her to win this match. She was able to raise her level when it mattered the most. She never gave up hope. She never gave up. She fought until the very end. What a player she is. Karolina Muchova truly is very strong and capable tennis player. She kept on frustrating Aryna Sabalenka with her brilliance. 1st career Grand Slam Final appearance for her. What an amazing achievement it is for her. Even when the score was 2:5 and even when she faced match point, Muchova wasn't fazed not even slightly. Phenomenal victory by Karolina Muchova.

Sabalenka's strongest opponent is herself. She has the physical power and prowess to dominate the entire tour and win any Major on any surface, but she so often succumbs to her own impulsivity and lack of clarity in the most important moments. Having too many options is detrimental if you can't make a good choice fast, and indeed her shot selection in clutch moments is very lacking and she often ends up defeating herself because of it. Credit to Muchova for staying in the match and doing everything that depended on her.

So Happy Sabalenka and her incessant screeching is out. She'd Grunt on a drop shot if she thought she'd get away with it. It's cheating and designed to interfere with the opponents game. WTA should have stamped down on it years ago. I've played for 30 years at County level - in all that time, nice never played an opponent who grunts so loudly...... Because I'd report them and put a stop to it.

I will always support the non grunter against the grunter. I'm afraid I can't wish Sabalenka to win, even though she seems like a nice woman. Great match though. Muchova's net play was sublime. More women should be sneaking into the net like this when they have the opponent in difficulty.
