She was selfish, though, suicide and leaving her sons so young? I mean, that is cruel to her sons, famliy and is ridiculous. She coldn't be happy by herself???? Suicids is a selfish act.

Yes, he's very calming and reassuring and I think that's what made him such a great choice and so popular as the host of this show. I think most people are saying the show itself and especially the music was scary, but Robert Stack was not.

I think that's the point. He makes us feel better about this kind of bad stuff. Idk if that makes sense but I find it helps.

i agree. this show was one of those rare gems. everything clicked. the music, robert stack, the acting, the emotions, etc. a true masterpiece of television.

Forensic files and fbi files is pretty creepy.

It scared me so much as a kid that I was afraid to open my eyes at night for fear that I would see a ghost. But at the same time I couldn't stop watching it. The person who created this show definitely knew what they were doing.

Not to mention Netflix reboot sucks

@@OtomoTenzi I distinctly remember we were sitting at a table for 6 which abutted a wall and an etched glass 1/2 divider exactly like the one in the UM episode. I was sitting at the opposite end of the table in the center and I remember feeling a sudden tremendous cold and considering I was a fat kid and it was mid to late April and not even remotely cool out, that struck me as very strange and I looked to my left which was lined with windows and I saw a woman standing by one of those windows who looked as though she had stepped out of a sepia photograph. She was wearing a uniform, it was a full length apron like outfit that went over her shoulders down to her waist, cinched in and the remaining length of it went to within 6 few inches of what I would describe as ankle strap shoes. She smiled as if she saw me and I could've sworn she waved cheerfully as well. I would guess that she was a waitress, or perhaps she was a nurse, early 20s, about 5 ft 5 maybe. Rather pretty too and I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, that I just saw somebody passing quickly but when I looked back, the cold sensation I felt had vanished, and she was gone. Nobody was there here and I quickly concluded that due to the location of our table, there was no way for anyone to have been able to enter or have otherwise passed through unnoticed. I recall feeling very freaked out and very uneasy and wanting desperately to get off that ship. But again, I didn't tell my parents about this because I felt they would never believe me and I didn't want to deal with potentially being called a liar. I think the most tangible feeling I can recall is that element of freezing cold that came and went within a matter of maybe 5 or 10 seconds. It's still gives me chills.

@@richardmills1505 Was that woman that you saw dressed or looked like anything that closely resembles the ghostly lady that was shown in this episode? What time period did you think she looked like she came from? I think they used a wax mannequin dressed in 1940s clothing and hairstyle in that segment instead of a live actress, but still she looked really creepy tho! 😳

SAME YEAR I TOURED IT!!!! And it WAS creepy as Hell. I had an experience at the Winchester Mystery House. I miss the Spruce Goose!!! I was 15 at the time.

It's one of those things you can't just wish away if you experience it personally.

People with schizophrenia see things and have conversations with people they believe are as real as flesh and blood individuals. These ghosts/voices are the creations of their own brain. Others hallucinate and see ghosts or hear voices due to the influence of stress, extreme fatigue or intoxicants. Possible/likely the brain also produces these ghosts/voices due to other commonplace underlying stimuli that would not be known to the person experiencing such an occurrence.

Same for when I was growing up. I'd go to bed with tv on after it went off because I didnt want to get oit of covers :p. Awesome that these are finally available!

Same for me i watched every episode it played every friday night's at 9pm as a kid...this show was heavy to watch before bed as a 9 or 10 yr old LOL...americas most wanted played rite after at 10pm

It could've just been fabricated to add more creepiness to the show... If all those banging noises and moaning voices were really constantly happening down there in the ship's hull, many modern-day paranormal researchers (armed with all the latest technology) would've made a TON of actual recordings by now! 🤔

I live in Mobile too!!! Theodore to be exact!! I can not remember the first name alias she used at the hotel but the last was "Stafford." I thought it was weird because one of my best friend's growing up had a similar first name and the last name Stafford. She had the same body type. She is like 5'10. Similar hair cut but her hair was blonde or dirty blonde. Her mom still lives in Mobile and lives in one of the if not then THE first house built in Theodore. Its off in the woods off Highway 90. Looks like the house off "The birds." Remake not Alfred Hitchcock's. We thought it was haunted. There were servant quarters, an old chicken coop and barn. Really narrow stairs going up to a second floor and all of it was orginal!! You walked in and felt like you were in one of those scary plantation houses off the movies. Original claw foot bathtub. Even glass doors knobs. No one even knows the house is where it is. Its VERY close to Theodore High school. We walked there. We I sat hidden I mean HiDDEN. You have to go down a long driveway that could easily get mistaken for the driveway of a business thats in front. But this house is behind it near the train tracks. Also very oddly and I have yet to figure out....whoever owned that house owned a fair or carnival. There are bumper cars, ferris wheel you name it behind it in the woods. Has to have been sitting back there for 30 years. There is even a disco ball. Vines and rust. Even the toys you won. Crazy. Yep.

It's the way he talks to the audience; Robert Stack had a very clam and 'detached' tone of voice that nobody can ever match... That's why the show was such a HUGE success back in the 80's and 90's.

Dennis Farina wasn't all that bad. And besides, Robert Stack died in 2003 so someone had to take over....I thought Dennis did a good job!

@@azchanna I know and yes it was stupid. When A&E started showing reruns of the old "In Search Of" series back in the early 2000's they ditched the original intro music and replaced it with some silly synth-pop sounding crap that did it no justice whatsoever.

@@phayzyre1052 I'm inclined to go easy on ol' Dennis: as a real-life ex-cop, he actually narrated true crime stories pretty well. It was simply the creepier mysteries that escaped him, and the revised music & graphics (as you say) didn't help the show as a whole. Dennis needed a co-host, really, and the show needed to keep the old music.

Nick Hentschel Dennis seemed to be a real down to earth kind of guy; almost like an old friend you could meet at the bar and have a few beers with. It’s a shame he’s no longer with us!

This was filmed when the pool had actual water and was in use....now if you go it is bone dry.

An episode of Quantum Leap was filmed on this ship permanently moored at Long Beach, CA. A Poirot episode was filmed on the supposed Queen Mary, although I do not know if it was filmed on this ship or another one. The pool area is quite fascinating. I know it's haunted but I wonder why the pool is not filled with water? It is a nice example of 1930s Art Deco design.

@@goombabear state regulation and the fact the during the conversion from ocean liner to hotel and attraction they gutted a lot of the ship. As time went by they feared that the weight of the water would collapse the pool cause there were no longer proper support underneath it. The ship is in really bad shape and some fear that the long neglect is beyond repair. The state of the pool currently is sad.

Truly nice guys seem to be drawn toward more self-sufficient women. This has been my experience. Also plenty of info about domestic violence, etc. Hurt people hurt ppl. You can't use someone else as a crutch to prop up your shaky life, and u can't 'fix' anybody. All that only ends up in resentment.

The only terribly sad thing around here is how easy people can accept things without any questioning whatsoever. That case has more holes than a fishing net. He has two kids who are still alive. Elizabeth stack and Charles stack. He did have a brother, James Langford Stack Jr. but he died about 3 years after Robert died.

@Robert Courson it's not that simple with depression. It is complex and can be debilitating. Try and understand. Delano (if it is a suicide) didn't commit suicide because she couldn't get a man - depression can bring you to suicide even if one seemingly has no problems. That's how dangerous this mental illness is. I know, I suffer through it every day.

@@DMalltheway What I was getting at was that her depression was likely exacerbated by the societal expectations of the time. Back then 34 was considered “too old” to not be married with a family. Today people rightfully see 34 as young and no one would think twice about a single person that age.
