I was in a similar situation some odd years back. Things were fine when it first started then she suggests we have an open relationship out of the blue. The open relationships that I've seen work generally started out as open relationships. Both partners are into open relationships in general, and this was the understanding from the word go. Monogamous relationships that are suddenly "opened" usually involve one partner who was just playing along to maintain the relationship.
