Looks like Rooster Teeth are trying out the Crunchyroll model for all their animated shows. (minus RTAA) Here are my thoughts on all of this, what is yours?

The way I see it, the reaction channels by sponsors are going to be SUPER popular in times to come, as a way non-sponsors can cheaply get their RWBY fix early.

Thanks for alerting us! Non-sponsors will be unable to get involved in the discussions at all, since when they see the previous episode, the newest episode will be released too, and new spoilers will be there.

+Vivamort Valkhan it'll be up to non sponsors to possibly start new communities with strict spoiler rules to have spoiler free discussions. There is no way this won't fragment the community :(

gorko thor It doesn't support RT in any way when you do that. You are watching it somewhere that does not have the rights to do so and are making money off of RT's content. We want the creators to make money from us watching.

That's how it's always been LOL. That's what they did for Volume 3. Episode comes out 1 day early for Sponsors, then the day after on their website, then a week after on KZfaq

Unless it's also being delayed a week on their site too which really isn't a problem anyway. Can't fault them for doing this. Every company needs money. I'm a sponsor because I like the company

Thanks for this, all I was really sure was happening until now was a giant war between sponsors and non-sponsors on a RWBY facebook page over this one week thing. I personally didn't care one way or the other, even as a non-sponsor, but the way it blew up on the facebook page was insane. This fact that there is also this level of uncertainty over the info does seem concerning though.

I feel either I will have to just go away from tumblr until rwby ends or just have to face the spoilers. I can't for the life of me pay for the feed. I can see why they would do that but damn it I hate sponsors. I won't hate RT but I just feel disappointed I guess.

+aeon3vale4 I feel like it was a good ride while it lasted with the way the sponsorship was handled before. Tumblr I feel was the worst for spoilers now it's going to get worse :(

If they do plan to do the delay I would highly implore them to shorten the delay to 5 days and one set up that I think could work is have it Monday for sponsors and have it Friday for the public so people have the weekend to discuss. Otherwise I will wait until something more official is announced or until Swarley has something else to say about this.

This feels like a very muddy water kind of deal. As you said it's already a hurdle for some to avoid spoilers but a week might be too much and it'll divide the fandom a fair bit with the non-sponsors feeling even morel ike a section outside of a majority because they have to wait and play catchup. It also feels very messy for some content makers like us. I too don't post any content until the public release and while the week length would in a way give me more time to make a review or a reaction, it's holding on content a week past the inital buzz. I do wanna think IF this goes ahead, maybe fan input could shorten it to maybe at least a 3 day block but it overall just looks like a decision considered by network higher ups more then one I'd see RT make especially with their big connection to the fans (see the CRWBY with Arnold/MurderOfBirds).

+ThatKaitoDan a three or four day block wouldn't be too bad maybe Friday nights for sponsors and Monday or Tuesday for non sponsors. A full week is going to cause chaos in some communities for sure.

+ThatKaitoDan Like you said it screws up the fandom. It splits us until the show is over. This will also increase piracy traffic, since people won't wait the week and just look it up on some other site.

I wonder if they will make up for this by releasing it on KZfaq the same day as it becomes public. Or maybe one week early on KZfaq red. My friend likes to wait for it to come out on KZfaq and I don't want to be two weeks ahead of him

well in a bit of personal news i got a gut punch from finishing transistor, that ending q_q (also hyped for the next game pyre) in a random wish; I wonder if we could get Ashely Barret, Darren Korb, AND Casey Williams to do some sort of collab, not even RWBY, just some sort of collab if you dont know the first 2 people then listen to the soundtracks to bastion and transistor (the songs with lyrics) and their singing gets better and better kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8iXl8iY38y0gGg.html

this policy has a major flaw it seems rely on sponsors being able to keep their mouths shut and not release any spoliers and people are incompetent and can't keep their mouths shut

+MrKellynation That depends, Rooster Teeth get's more money from the ads on their site. If they want to maximize that they might just move the KZfaq episode back by two weeks. But that's just a theory :p

Hey bro by the way I don't need to worry about it because are you scription two crunchy roll and second I usually watch Ruby off their original website on rooster T's website so I'm already good on that and country were on the scriber to watch anime only so I don't watch Ruby off Conterra watch off their website so I am good on that and your hour to hour 35 minutes press conference was actually really good with cream

I'm going to have a shitty time on Twitter. Man are they getting greedy! I really do hope someone will copy and post the episodes on KZfaq even just temporarily. But no matter how frustrating, I *REFUSE* to pay even a cent for entertainment I can get for free.

I agree. I wouldn't pay but it's not a problem. Nothing is free though, they have stuff to pay for so...a point of a business is to make money and to keep the content, something's got to go. Also I have no issue with this. But I don't agree with uploading it for free.

trilight I really don't care why they're doing it. I just want to see the show without being bothered by spoilers and whatever else and if it's possible for them to have their old schedule, I'm all for it.

trilight I did what I could and took the survey. It's not hard for them to care for us individually, it's impossible. The very problem for me *is* having to either stay away from the internet or having to pay for sponsorship which is pretty much where I was going earlier. Don't tell me what I already know. So what's the point of me writing all this if I can't do much? As much purpose as there is commenting what I think in general.

Well...I think this means I'll end up unfollowing alot of artists on Twitter and tumblr if it's put into effect - I can probably dodge people on Deviantart w/o unfollowing them. Both me and numerous friends have had RWBY 3 spoiled for us all because we didn't have sponsor ship - this week thing is....too much :( I can't pay for the sponsorship due to the situation I am in. I guess I may just see what RT has to say about this approach and if need be change a few things in my social media. I can see why they would do this and understand but...that policy would make it suck to be a non-sponsor considering how fast information travels online w/o bounds

My main with a week delay is piracy issues. Piracy issues concerning Rwby will always happen but with a large gap in between, I fear many will be enticed to watch Rwby on websites illegally(Kissanime,Gogoanime, etc) which is a week earlier than non sponsors. This can cause a large portion of their views migrating to these sites. During Volume 3, the episodes would be pirated late that day or the day after it was released which was fine because non-sponsors receive it the next day as well but I feel the 1 week delay will encourage those to seek sites that stream Rwby illegally. Kissanime has around over a millions views for Rwby and now with a week delay those numbers can double. A reduction of views on official sites such as Roosterteeth and Crunchyroll can be harmful =/ If they want to push the sponsorship, they can go 2 days I suppose but a week is too much.

I don't mind this actually. Nostalgia Critic has been doing this on and off for some time and crunchyroll has had this set up for a long time. I just hope RT realizes piracy of the show will go way way up due to this

+Swarley Underhill that being said while I will understand piracy because it will happen, I don't quite get why sponsors need a separate Reddit. Then again I don't use Reddit so maybe there is a Reddit for say game of thrones where one is for the book readers, one for the HBO subs, and one for when it finally comes to DVD or something. Otherwise I wouldn't see the point since spoilers are just something you need to deal with when something is out officially and you have no access tomit

+masteroflag it's not something they've implemented yet. Before they would have a sponsor megathread and no spoilers were allowed outside of it. But there would be so much fan art and discussion that just one thread would not be enough. :p

this sponsor stuff is stupid, if they got store dibs that be one thing but, why this wait for our shows crap. not everyone has the time or money to sponcer the guys, lastly and I hate too bring it up but, seriously this delay for non-sponcers stuff, I get the feeling I'd never happen if monty were still here.

you need to do a giant lyrical analysis of the volume 3 soundtrack now that its out. please. if you read this article roosterteeth.com/post/51263330 which is titled "RWBY composer jeff williams on his creative process" you will see how much foreshadowing and info he puts in. and dude, the lyrics on this soundtrack are mind blowing. so much info. please do it and try to break down what it all could mean. here is a link to some of the lyrics argyleplaid.com/#lyrics you NEED to do all of these. please. you could include little visual inserts from the show and small clips of the songs. it would make a great video. "im the one" is insane. Merc and Em are not to be screwed with.

Swarley Underhill Indeed. You would have to dodge everything like I'm trying to do with Pokémon Sun and Moon (which I'm kinda failing but there is no big news yet so I'm succeeding?) Plus you also got to deal with curiosity. It's going to be a hard road to dodge spoilers if this goes through... though at least if it does go through I will have near instant reviews from you when the episodes are released for Non-Sponsers.
