Great advice!
@Byromie
@Byromie 4 жыл бұрын
I like that you put elevated mode last. It's a last resort and better for skate parks (pending what your doing. Elevated mode can get you into trouble when you go back down hill. If your on a steep street with any traffic at all and need to slow down and or reverse quickly, it will be more difficult to do so. Sometimes, simply descending down the other side of the hill or turning around to go back down will be sketchy as you grind your tail all the way down, forgetting you had elevated mode on. It's a little like the suggestion about driving on snow. Don't go faster than what you can react and safely stop to. Steep declines are like driving in ice and snow when your riding the tail down 😱. (never put fangs or any hardware thicker than float plates on your tail. This will decrease tail clearance, which is very dangerous on declines.)

I nose dived on an incline, Didnt feel the push back, and crashed hard with little time to brace 😱 ouch! Thought I may have broken a rib, hand/palm was grazed as well as my pride, changing my shirt was difficult for several days after that. I bought some wrist guards too because I felt the impact there. Too a break for a couple of weeks & returned, with a little more experience 😆 Also always wear a skull bucket!

An even better way that I've have leaned to carve up hill is to switch direction without turning into the hill. This involves being able to ride "normal" or "goofy" stance. It is not easy at first. It's like trying to write with your non-dominant hand. It takes practice, and I do mean to practice on flat ground first. Practice switching stances to change direction. This probably won't work for the Pint now that I think about it since it has simple stop and doesn't switch directions like the XR can.

Hi jimmy I have good news also question below in comments. My family is letting me ride nowadays in my neighborhood and to the shopping center. I finally got more confidence riding as well. I started on pacific mode and trained on small hills. After a few days I wanted to go on the bigger hills. So I tried elevated mode. I found that elevated mode helps my anxiety on new hills I haven’t been on before. But I enjoy skyline overall because it accelerates fast to overcome bumps, to go up hills without leaning too much toward and is the best bet for braking downhills. It saved me this time I was taking a detour and didn’t expect to bump into a huge hill. It went up and down the scary hill like it was on a track or something. Very fun to ride but I sure need to get safety gear. I’d totally recommend safety gear to the next people that ask me about the pint. Also thank you for posting a lot of videos. It motivates me a lot to keep going, learning and to enjoy the outdoors
@paulnozaki
@paulnozaki 4 жыл бұрын
Question 1. Is elevated as fast as skyline just more elevated to keep the rider more safe from the front/nose touching the hill or bumps, etc? (Like acceleration I mean. I noticed some changes in acceleration in other modes but I forgot to check skyline and Elevated mode speed differences as well so unsure if speed and acceleration would be different in those two modes) 2. Is elevated safe for downhills and dismounting uphill or downhill in case of emergencies? I’ve dismounted off of some hills with skyline but some uphills fling you off and downhill sometimes is too deep and the engine turns off with simple stop causing a backwards nosedive with simple stop so not sure how I’ll stall enough to let a driver pull out from their home’s parking (sometimes the park I go to the house’s have cars pulling out unexpectedly on the uphill and downhill to get there) 3. I’ve been having issues connecting app to the pint. It would connect and disconnect most of the time. Hopefully it isn’t just me 4. Since I got the hang of skyline should I stay on skyline all the time since my commute has tons of hills? Sometimes pacific can do it just the nose sometimes will dip if I hit a bump or don’t build enough speed early on the hill or before hill or when those emergency moments where I need to stop for a car pulling out of their house on the hills.. Skyline accelerates fast just in case I stall stop (stopping while slowly balancing forward so the engine doesn’t turn off when braking) for the unexpected cars that pull out on the hills. Thank you again. Sorry if my questions and etc might be messed up or misunderstanding. It’s 3 am here and I couldn’t sleep because I’m still mind blown that I survived my pint engine stalling on elevated uphill

I rented a pint x off someone from Facebook marketplace and I was super bummed that the performance was super low. It couldn't make it up hardly any midsized hills without nosediving. Well, turns out the tire pressure was only 9.5 psi. It's supposed to be 20. The battery was dying super fast too. That explains it. So make sure you keep an eye on that tire pressure too! And yeah maybe I should have rented from SUPrents instead. They probably check their tire pressure more often.

I’m 62 and just ordered the pint. I have to admit I’m scared of falling yet will definitely not be put off and will ride with caution. Considering buying football pads to protect my clavicle while learning. Would the small wheels in front (fangs?) be helpful going up hills? Helmet, gloves, wrist guards and kneepads. Balance is everything

Aloha Jimmy My Name Is Allen From Hawaii I’ve Got The One Wheel Pint & This Video Made Me Really Curious About What Was Your Battery Percentage Going Up These Hills Because from My Personal Experience I Tried My Board Going Uphill And not even 10 min into my riding from a 100% charge Going Uphill Killed Half Of My Battery Life & I just felt Really Disappointed about the product it probably is just not made to go uphills as far as battery life ? you were riding on elevated mode? or other mode?

Im also wondering this. I notice elevated mode responds with less forward lean for more (climbing) speed

Future motion seriously need to do a refresh. Folks like myself are not getting living in a hilly city + that speed limit. Battery tech has gotten better. I'm sure 30mph is possible with 14mph steep hill climb speeds. Please FM, I want a onewheel but reality is your current boards wouldn't suit my needs

Totally forgot about that. I usually just set my onewheel to the setting that I like best and I don't mess with it ever again. Elevated would have lifted the nose a little bit but I don't like to ride in elevated because of the awkward stance and I feel it is harder to notice pushback when it happens in elevated.

I see, thanks for the clarification! I’ve been curious about elevated mode for a while now and haven’t had any big hills to test it on.
