Narrated by Paddy Rossbach, RN, this is part of a series of demonstrations designed to help individuals learn to manage after a lower-limb amputation. The videos in this series are not to take the place of your regular rehabilitation or medical care; rather they should serve as a reference or reminder of what you are being taught. In some cases there is more than one correct way to do something. These videos just demonstrate some of these ways. The method used to reduce post surgical swelling, i.e., wrapping, shrinker, etc., should be the one the healthcare team is most comfortable with and can monitor constantly. If done incorrectly it can cause more damage than good. For simplicity we will refer to Above Knee Amputees as AK’s and Below Knee Amputees as BK’s. (Originally recorded in 2005)
