Just experimenting with neem oil for the first x this year with our young apple tree which has no apples yet. I kept having to strengthen the solution with more neem oil as it seemed to hv no effect unfortunately...but will keep trying.

I hope you find something that works for you. My sister just told me she puts baby powder on her zinnias to keep off the Japanese Beetles. I had never heard of that.

I do love that chair under the cattle panel arbor! I want 2 of those panels for my garden but unsure how to get them home!

Yes, that is the problem with those panels. I am lucky that I was able to borrow our box truck from work to get them home.

My experience with Neem oil is that it burned my foliage especially when I sprayed in daytime....

Yes, I try to use it on a cloudier or cooler day. You can also try diluting it more.

Always spray in the evening, about half an hour before dusk. Your plants won't burn up, and the bees and pollinators have gone to bed for the night; so they won't be harmed.

I have had that sprayer for years and years and don't remember where I got it from. Either Home Depot or Menards, probably.

If it rarely / never rains, how often do you reapply? What makes neem oil different from the bug sprays for Japanese beetles?

It usually only takes one treatment to get rid of them. I would treat once and repeat if you see any signs of them returning. Neem oil is natural. I have never used the other types.

Unfortunately, neem oil is now illegal in Canada and no longer accessible because it is proven to cause death in rabbits, small rodents and bees. It is currently illegal to promote or recommend it for home gardening in Canada. And to think that less than ten years ago, it was pretty much available.

Hi Sharon, how often do you have to spray the Japanese Beetles on the melons? I have to spray my roses about every 7-10 days. They haven't found my melons yet, will be sure to keep an eye out! I really can't' stand those little bugs!!

Hi Victoria. 7-10 days sound about right, unless it rains. Reapply after a rain. Yeah, they are a pain!!

Nothing else. Just neem oil, soap and water.

What does the Neem oil do to bees and other pollinators?

Since the insects have to eat it to be killed, neem oil does not typically harm bees, butterflies, etc.

If applied at dusk when wet with time to dry when pollinators are not active. Only use cold pressed neem that contains azadirachtin. Anything else is junk.

I hope you talked about when to apply neem so that you don't kill the pollinators like the bees. This is very important we should take strong consideration of it. Neem is very dangerous for the pollinators, if we choose to use it we should educate ourselves about the best ways.

This is what is happening to my green beans, I will have a bunch of seeds grow and then in a day. They are destroyed, just like that!

What about for roses. Its really hot where I live the sun is strong on them. Im afraid to spay them when its hot. Does it damage the leaves to get them wet under the sun? What do you suggest. THey keep eating my roses

Try doing a test patch with the spray and see how the leaves react. Usually neem oil is pretty gentle on the plants. Also, don't spray in the middle of the day ... only early morning or at dusk.

Good video and content, but for the love of humanity, I just wish all youtubers would quit with the acoustic guitar serenade introductions. People come here desperately seeking solutions and, while I'm only one person, I feel it's frustrating to see family memoirs and pets, whilst listening to music or flashy graphics, just get me to the helpful content. Time's a wasting. The beetles are feasting on my pole beans while I'm watching your extended prelude to the meat and potatoes. Just my 2 cents. I'm not intending to be mean, it's just that it never fails, whenever I'm knee-deep with replacing a car starter, fixing an appliance or trying to combat evil insects, once I've finally vetted the one video that holds promise to help me, I've gotta sit through these happy-go-lucky intros and it's just plain annoying.
