Mr. Jojo White recently retired from USPS and he will receive $68,000 year. Here is the breakdown of his retirement income. Plus why invest in stocks and pay off your debt.
USPS Retirement
The Postal Service participates in the federal retirement program, which provides a defined benefit (pension), as well as disability coverage. Eligibility is determined by your age and number of years of creditable service.
Thrift Savings Plan
Career postal employees may contribute to the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), which is similar to 401(k) retirement savings plans offered by private sector employers. Employees contribute to TSP on a tax-deferred basis, and may receive automatic and matching contributions (up to 5 percent of pay) from the Postal Service.

What I’m doing somewhat conservative is Match the 5% Traditional TSP stow away 10% in Roth TSP so capital gains isn’t taxed once you retire. Changed the Allocations to aggressive investments. Common stocks, small caps and international. I try to urge the younger people to learn financial literacy so they can “set and forget” their investments while it grows. Roth IRA is another great avenue to stow away more money if you got extra cash.

Stu, I had $550k in my TSP at retirement but counting S/L, military I had a combined 39 years of federal service. I also retired two days after my 62nd birthday that gave me that extra 10% added to my FERS annuity.

@@MarieAdventure Hello Marie, I just happened to wander onto your site and seen that you highlighted my reply to one of your podcasts. This is a legitimate question from Sir Money. I retired 3/26/21 after nearly 33 years with the USPS (FERS) as a letter carrier. Cashing in my military service and sick leave, I had a combined 39 years of federal service. I retired two days after my 62nd birthday, which gave me the extra 10% added to my FERS annuity (which paid for my spouse's survivor benefit). At retirement, I had $550k in my TSP account. I left mine in the C Fund and have lost some (I have not looked to see how much) but I have no need to tap into my TSP, so I'll let it ride.

Hi Marie I work at the post office,I would like to know what is the name of the stock market to invest?
@MarieAdventure

United States Postal Service is not a publicly held corporation. If you want to invest in the stock market, try the Robinhood app because you can buy $1 stock while you are learning the trade robinhood.com/us/en/ I do not use Robinhood though, I signed for the big boy trading $5K minimum investment.

Good afternoon. Me (27) and my wife (28) plan to invest 15% of our 85k (2% increase for 15 years ending at about 110k per year income) for 34 years. Our current estimate based on an average of 8%-10% ROI for 35 years in a Roth is close to 6-6.5 million. If my calculations are correct we could pull 100k per year while investing safely at 3-5% average ROI while never touching (and adding) to our investment balance. Does this sound about accurate?
