Yes load truck function for the packages. If your pulling down your Rt that you don’t know, you could always write down the order of the streets on paper. So you can load your truck appropriately. Can use tubs to separate the little packages according to your Rt. When doing a piece and don’t know the Rt, just separate the packages according to streets. When u get to that street, pull up the tub

good tips for sure. I write the sequence number on the label. It's funny that management thinks all routes are the same i have had managers claim so, i put effort into all routes in my office some routes i get done by 3:30 some after 5:00 lol i actually probably put more effort into the routes that are more difficult. But some routes have streets that you can pack loops in your satchel that you can do that start and end on your one parkpoint. It takes time to start , buckle, unbrake and check mirrors and then park, curb, unbucle etc, so the less parking and the more walking the faster you will be--like you said carry as much as possible, perhaps don't carry the loops you can't carry spurs with. I have a double satchel and i also use a regular satchel so i have literally 3 satchels on me :P So, if you have your mail fingered by the time you get to the next box it will be faster. So i do 5 loops all at once on one parkpoint---i have my mail fingered by the time i get to each box---that's 4 parking and driving actions I don't have to do--saves time. Some routes though don't have that sweet street set up though but i love the routes that do. That route I can do that whole section off one parkpoint and go to the truck just twice. 40% of a route off one parkpoint is sweet. One boss stated to me that they expect "15 seconds per house" ok so that's how they figure in how long a job should take--but you can't just sum it down to a variable like that. My city is a city on a fregen hill and there are routes that are flat too---so trust me the routes on a hill that have houses on a steep hill on steps will take longer then the ones that are on flat land and straight hahaha

He's saying scan them with the load truck feature and it tells you what stop number it is. Then you can also use package look-ahead to see which packages you have coming up. I don't number mine- I write the address number and first letter of street on the box facing the rear of the truck. Like 1942 Ashley St, I'd write "1942 A" on the package so I can see it standing at the rear of the truck and takes under a second to identify the package I'm looking for.

the unofficial term for this is called being a "runner" :P
@egigstertroll3521
@egigstertroll3521 2 жыл бұрын
I am not calling CCA Nick a runner. But it leads to a topic of "cheaters". You have some folks who "hop", they don't wear their seatbelt and they might not even turn off their vehicle and they do dismounts and knock them all out. You are supposed to "Park, Brake, Curb, and Take--of course your seatbelt too" so the "hoppers" beat the rule followers. Management in my office like to talk to you about "hey your coworkers got done 30 minutes ago what happened?" they like to manage based off comparing you to your coworkers as if you are in a race. That's a little of what is behind some of the negativity against runners is often runners will cheat and not take their breaks--then the post office looks at these runner's times and want to use their times as the benchmark. So not taking a 30 minute break THAT YOU ARE NOT BEING PAID FOR creates a higher workload and implies that you shouldn't take a 30 minute break. It is a soft form of union busting. Management likes to lecture and bring up coworkers times because they want to "divide and conquer the workforce". I had a manager tell me "my guy did 250 packages in 5 hours" as he was lecturing me--btw I did 25 per hour that day different route. I thought about 5 divided into 250 is 50 per hour, that's 1.2 minutes per drop of a package over 5 hours. HMMMMMMM something is fishy with that, is he curbing locking and taking? This is amazon sunday btw. Or does he have a stop that he is unloading a ton at one spot? want to piss management off? make sure workers all are done at the same time the slowest person is done hahaha I have had pieces given to me and being told "james gets this done in 2 hours" lol I'm not racing people but that's cool lol. Another great management tactic--not all managers do this--"hey here is a 1.5 hour piece to do" but in reality it's 2 or 2.5 hours haha. One major reason why i always keep my scanner on me--obviously because you don't want to have to go back to the truck--but the scanner shows your movements. So if you have a manager that likes to make sideways threats about "the district" you can know the scanner shows scans and movements so you don't have to worry hehe. Growing up in Church "God's watching you" now in the post office manager is like "the district is watching you" hahaha obviously lol we are working for the government it goes without saying we are being watched hahaha It's a good point , I am an intermittent faster so I don't take lunch breaks. But also a big reason is the feelings of being behind that make it difficult to stop. If i know i get done with a route at 3:30 yeah it's easy to take the entitled 30, but often as a CCA I am doing a route I have never done before and often in another office I have never been in before so I don't know my timing. But like they say "we get paid by the hour" RCAs i think get paid by the route. CCA's are "assistants" so if you are steady and working it doesn't matter we don't get paid by the route.
