Can't wait for this channel to update its name to "City Carrier Nick." I just wanna' say thanks for the content on this channel. Been carrying since April this year, and it hasn't been easy. 12-16 hours daily with some weeks not even having off, but watching your vids definitely helped. Keep it up brother and continue the grind.

LOVE your videos and encouragement, Nick! I've been lucky to basically rotate through 3 routes over the past month, with an occasional piece of another route or a visit to a neighboring station. If I survive this probation period, I'd be quick to bid on a Hold-Down for just about anything, lol... I just want to master my craft and master *a* route... I struggle with the flow of the different types of routes I've been exposed to: businesses, apartments/condos with big CBUs, neighborhoods with NBUs, hop-and-stop, out-the-window... My OJT was in a 2-ton vehicle on a mainly business/apartment route with CBUs... My OJI was so kind and gave me tons of hands-on experience since I was ready to learn... But I still have a hard time finding my delivery points, parking spots, following the flow of the routes, working from the LLV for different types of delivery (like fingering the mail for mounted routes, executing a quick hop-and-stop when the mailboxes are blocked by recycling bins or other vehicles, etc)... I keep thinking, how on earth does any of this make intuitive sense to anyone? Isn't there a better way to set this up so I don't spend my whole day getting turned around and backtracking? ... Lol, I guess I'm just having to learn to ask for help early and often, and hope that the regulars and other CCAs will be able to put up with me. :)

It's true. I have one of the least desired routes in my office. I've been on it since October. It's so much easier when you do the same route everyday. Swings once you're done with your route, though... :)

I've been on a regular route since I've started because the regular is off on medical leave. It's nice because I can do it and get done but boy Sunday's are tough not knowing the other routes that we'll. I still get the packages delivered but it would be better if I knew those better too.

All I get is... you need to step it up! You need to go faster! yeah, I did yesterday and had my first fall (that was fun (:) Nice fall in the mud, smh. My biggest worry is the mail I was holding would fall out of sequence which spells disaster and wastes time. Too much stress is placed on new CCA's, too much. My third time wanting to say,, f this, I'm done wit this.

I wish someone would go on vacation so I can get a hold down lol. All of our routes are mounted haha! But our routes are very long so walking is not really an option. I'm so tired of being bounced around its making me worried that I'm not learning fast enough and my speed isn't ideal because every route is new. I always forget packages. All of our routes have at least 3 cages of packages usually 4. Living in the middle of nowhere basically means everyone orders EVERYTHING!!! lol! its definitely frustrating. I'm really hoping they choose to keep me. Rolling up on my 90 days really quickly. I'm nervous.

@@MailmanNick I hope so. They’re comparing me to my sister who’s been a carrier for 2 years. I feel like they’re expecting more from me just because of that. They’ve even said, your sister is a great carrier so you should be too. They meant that I’m slow compared to her and need to speed up. I know I’m doing fine as far as where the other cca’s are that started with me. I’m even a little faster than some. But I’m more under the microscope. I don’t like it bight I’m gonna prove to them that I’m gonna be great 👍🏼 I did my sisters route the other day under time. Hopefully that shows them something.

I work as a CCA. I worked in NYC for a month and now in Miami Beach. The USPS is horrible to work for in my opinion. There vehicles are 30yrs old, dirty, unsafe and breaks just about every violation in the safety book. They give all the new people most of the hard work load because the regulars don't want to do it. You work more than 12hrs even though the rule says your not supposed to. They don't want you to take breaks so you can finish the route faster. They are always rushing you and calling you every 15mins to see where your up to, just so you can come back and do more work that a regular doesn't want to do. Supervisors seem to be mentally slow. I will be making a video in the future to show people what it's really like to work at the post office. I'll end with this, a Carrier who has worked 37yrs says he would not recommend this job to anyone.
@MailmanNick
@MailmanNick 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on your office. Carrier said he wouldn't recommend it yet he's still working here. You earn your stripes. Without a college degree this is a great career.

An aux route varies how long it is. It’s technically not a full route and varies on what kind of deliveries it is. A mix of mounted, cbu’s, park and loop (or relay), or dismount. It usually is a good start to be on an aux route. Hours depends on your office and how well it’s staffed.
