One of the regulars told me that when a supervisor ask you to do something brand new always respond with “I’ll do my best” and when they check up on you “I’m going as safe and as fast as I can”

The only problem is, when your new all you get is different routes are hard, you can’t catch on.

In USPS the supervisor will always try to rush you don't fall into their games when you are out in the streets there is no percentage of standard just work at a pace that's good for you and be careful any accidents caused by running will always be your fault

Back when I was a cca. I took my sweet ass time everyday. Took me 12 hours to do a route everyday. And then I became regular and I started getting my route done in 8 hours. My whole office was shocked. But one of my supervisor knew I've been bull shitting this whole time.

Hey Nick.. Thank you for all your advices.. Im a new CCA and i am really struggling with the speed. I do think i am going really slow even on my second time on the same route. I am doing my best and the safest i can be. My supervisor is very understanding though,, He does explain how important to be efficient but Im glad he also helps me and guides me to be succesful!

Thank you for your video!Your video has helped me a lot.Yesterday was the first day I was sent out myself.Harder than I expected,4 hours of work took 6.5 hours to finish. I felt very depressed when I got to the last two streets.My supervisor was very nice,he said nothing about that and just comforted me not to worry.The regular carries and CCAs in our office are also very nice and gave me some good advices.There are more than 10 CCAs earlier than me in our office,hopefully I can stick to the day I become a regular:).

Also wanted to add, it kind of reminds me of my old Frito Lay jobs as a merchandiser. I was slow at first, but after awhile you get used to it and pick up the pace. Although some days were harder than others because of promotions and all that, but after doing it for awhile you definitely get used to it, it's all just muscle memory.

Nick your very helpful I understand when your a call that means your everywhere, yes I’m not worried about time being accurate, but casing confusing especially you start out and the even numbers aren’t close in the slots I get confused finding the slots

I think my supervisor would be thrilled if I took 2 hours for 1.5 hour leg of a route. I’m in my 4th week since OJI and I have yet to do the same route. I’m learning something new each day. Today, I had 2 hours to do all park and loop. Took me about 3.5 hours. Some days I put down I took lunch when I didn’t just so it looks like I’m not that slow. I got my 30 day review today and got all U’s. It was the first time anyone has said anything to me good or bad. I figured I needed to improve but didn’t think it was that bad. I hope people stop saying hang in there. It’s starting to bring me down. Well, tomorrow Saturday and I’ll probably be given a mounted route where I have to step out at least 50% of the time.

I just finished my 4th day of training today and I’m super slow right now. I got lost a few times, feet are sore which is slowing me down even more. On day 3 I slit my my finger because I was trying to be faster at pulling mail out of my bag and bled all over the place. I just keep moving. Otherwise I’ve been delivering the mail pretty accurately for the most part. Getting better at taco fold and what not. Still very challenging however.

I was slow my first day by myself. After the 3rd day on that route I could get it done as fast as anyone else. It does get easier the more you do it.

I’ll have to admit, thought it would be harder. Today they gave me 6 hrs worth of work. Knocked it out in 4. The hardest part is houses with no addresses and can’t find the mailbox. Is in in the door, slot in the wall, box or bowl on the table, or a box on the side of the house. Drives me nuts!

We've got a regular carrier who's been on the same route three years and some days, he asks for eight hours of help. I'm serious. They'll ask him when he thinks he'll get done and he'll say, "Midnight". ALL of you are faster than that guy. Trust me.

I have worked for about a month in the post office and on all 9 of the routes in our office. But they don't give me the route book to help me follow the streets. Which way do I turn and where do I park? I have asked them that, but since I am still in my 90 days, I am treated poorly. My supervisor told me that I am taking too long and that I need to think about if I want to stay on as a mail carrier. I am 54, 5 feet tall and really need this money! I am having a lot of challenges. Different carriers will case the mail for me, but then bundle it together in a way I can't seem to follow. If I just had a map of the route, I could organize the trays and packages better. I take at least twice as long as they say it will take. Don't they know that I am brand new, don't know the streets, don't have a route book or map and am not the regular carrier for that route? How can they say that a CCA will take the same amount of time as the regular? They say BE SAFE, but it really is, don't get caught NOT being safe! You can't unbuckle your seat belt EVERY dismount. And how about those LLV's! The truck I drove needs a new starter and won't start! I can't believe the LLV's don't have at least a back up beeping sound. It is very dangerous, this job, but the paychecks are helping. I hope I can physically continue to do this job. Based on my size and age, I am struggling. I started on February 14, 2022 in training but started actually learning on the job beginning of march.

I'm a new CCA 1month out of training, I'm very slow, I get nervous about finding the correct address, supervisors wants me to complete the job faster. I'm considering quiting, they've asked me not to come into work a few times, Im hoping the the job clicks, and I understand what I need to do.

my manager told me I was no good. I had to drive someone around for 2 months then I converted and had to bid to a different office now I am much happier but my manager said to try to relax and to let people help me because I am so frustrated I don't know everything from having to drive my coworker around

On my Second day on the job with my OJI new route I never taken before my brain is all lost don’t know any streets and can’t remember the packages street names in the back and she tells my I’m moving to slow and I need to pick up the pace.

I did a 3 hours of work in 8, I've also never done the route completely, just the first 30 minutes the rest was like I was on Mars. I know what you mean.

On Thursday my supervisor told me that I have to improve my phase be I am too slow 🐌 I was surprised he said that because 1. New route 2. Finished the route on my own with no help 3. Full day walking 🚶‍♂️ route 4. I didn't take a lunch so I can finish it on time 5. It was my second day doing this route and I loved it and I was so proud of myself for finishing it without help What can I cut ✂️ of to make myself faster? It's a walking route with steep hills and lots of stairs to people's houses 🏘 (boy do they love stairs) ❤️

What are some of the reasons they can let you go at 90 Days?

I had my third day alone today and it almost makes me feel down, i have had a new route each day, i cant tell if im improving or not

I've been a CCA for almost 1 month and the supervisors are telling me I'm moving too slow, even for a new CCA. What should take about 2 hours of delivery time is taking me 4 to 6 hours. I really wanted this job to work for me but I'm not making progress. They're making me do retraining. I'm feeling really discouraged and defeated.

I get back around 7:30 so don’t feel bad at all

Man the full routes are tough especially new ones, I can't get them done in 8 hours. I think I usually get about 6 to 6.5 done before help arrives. I'm about at my 60 days.

One thing I've heard of is that you can call your supervisor by a certain time, like 3 PM, and let them know if you think you won't be able to finish and request they send someone out to come help you. Is that about right? Please excuse me if it's a common sense question. When I ended up having to bring back some mail, on my second day of attempting three hours of mail, all my sup said to me was, "I'm going to be REAL with you; I don't think this is for YOU. You may want to RESIGN before you're FIRED!!!" All he had to offer that day was criticism, no advice or suggestions or anything.

It feels like I'm always the last to walk in at the ebd if the day doing the walk of shame.its embarrassing

Just curious why does your office call them relays?…doesn’t that term come from when you have relay boxes on your route? If it’s park and loop we call them swings.

I had my 30 day review, and my supervisor said my speed was graded as unacceptable for now,( which made me want to quit right on the spot) lol, but I think my biggest issues are missing packages and backtracking. 😭 Also finding cluster boxes is a mf. I'll be so mad if I get fired for being "slow" after busting my entire ass out on the street, if anyone has any tricks for speed plz feel free to share

I’m sorry being a cca. Your never on the same route to learn, casing is hard because in the slots I see the street then I can’t locat the other side of street even odd numbers, I follow the board but what can you say to help

Whats the purpose of doing it fast? There will be more mail the next day. Now with Amazon in the mix. Your going to take longer.

I’m back at the post office . First time got let go becuase job performance and the supervisor didn’t like me but now I’m at new office and I’m doing good and improved on past mistakes . I’m day 10 .. once I get 90 days how will it feel like ? Also what’s the most one can make in a month cirrrnt hourly is 18 an hour and been working kany hours

my route is not that big, but almost every house has 2-3 big dogs. That makes me slow, they are barking from the netting door, sometimes they are out. Totally scary!! And my supervisor expecting that route I need to finish in 2 hours, but I always take 3hours. Don't know what I can do!

Can you comment about bringing mail back? What are the various scenarios? What are the consequences?
