I’m a T6 in Richmond and I would definitely recommend it to you. Next May will make it 2 whole year as a regular. I’m happy with my swing and it definitely beats doing a draining route like yours I’m sure every single day. Much respect to you and my other bros and sisters who are on those type routes. Not every route is the same and I wish the routes were structured more efficiently for us. Hope we get hazard pay at the very least. But like you said not gonna hold my breath bc we all know how the PO don’t give af about us lol. Let’s just make this money and enjoy life outside of work. Peace and y’all be safe out here!

Today’s my NS day and I’m chillin today it’s too hot lol. Plus being a T6 unless something is open on my swing you probably won’t see me. but even working 5 days a week I’m hitting 50-55 hours. We’re struggling here so the last couple days got hit with 2-3 hour splits.

Love the content and energy man! Just hit my 1 yr break last week as a cca in Riverside, CA. It’s funny because my shop steward came up to me today actually and was like, “dang man I thought you quit because I haven’t seen you for a while. Most ccas quit after a year” (he hadn’t seen me for a while because I was actually working at downtown for 2 weeks). Anyways, I don’t see myself quitting anytime soon. Just thankful for the gig 🙏🏼

I appreciate your positive outlook. As someone who is starting next week as an RCA I’ve already seen a pretty negative perspective from a lot of folks. I understand being prepared, but at the end of the day it’s a job, working for someone else. I want to do good by them, and make the $ I need.

I’m starting next week at 45. Pretty stoked. I’ve owned a house painting business and worked for myself for 10 years. I’m thinking the post office will be more difficult at first, but I’m looking down the road at the big picture and the benefits.

Can I drop a thought about the contract which you have eluded too. We have traditionally earned roughly 10% less than UPS drivers and I think that’s about right when you compare what we make to other workers in a similar industry. For years we were negotiating with the clerks in contract agreements which I always thought was a big mistake. You can not compare what we do to what clerks do and we deserve more. As of now the mail handlers have a current active contract of 3 years of 1.3% and full colas which should be the minimum requirement for our contract. For the purposes of comparing what we make to another postal craft I have to compare our proposed contract to something besides UPS so I’m using the mail handlers. If you calculate a 1.3% November contract raise ($980.00) and year over year inflation of 3.4% ($2560.00) though the trajectory of inflation is downward this equates to $3,540.00 a year. That would put us currently at $78,839.00 taking into consideration the 2 colas (august 2023/February 2024) and Novembers 2023 contract raise which we behind.

The CCA''s here don't stay too long; I've been working like 12 hours a day. Pretty hot here too. Best not to complain, just go in, do your job, get your check and go home. I stay away from the politics. When I first started, I was sent out probably 75% of the time. I'm close to getting my own route finally after almost 3 years. Been pretty hot here as well. Peeps need to do their research before taking this job. It's not an easy job but I was able to do it since I've always had jobs where I worked a lot and on holidays and weekends. Many don't do that. You can have a relationship when you work a lot of hours...LOL...that's funny...I'm grateful for the job and the opportunity. Everyone stay safe out there carriers.

The median salary in the US is between $37,000.00 in Alabama to $60,000.00 in Massachusetts. An OTDL carrier working up to 60 hours a week and picking up a few extra hours which my office does can earn $140,000.00+. There is no reason for anyone to complain. Did you guys get your benefits read out in March? Mine stated the USPS paid benefits to me of $40,000.00. That’s $180,000.00 and my office frequently goes over 12/60. We are doing very well guys. And one more point. Unless you are a civil, state or federal worker pensions are a thing of the past and we get 3. TSP, postal pension and social security. These are benefits which you do not see until the time for retirement presents itself.

You have a great attitude, Nick! In my opinion, it’s the cost of living everywhere that’s stressing people. Housing. Etc. So USPS is good. It’s just that things are expensive now. I’d rather seeing housing go down somehow rather than wages go up (as weird as that may sound).

Hey Nick--I'm guessing you're on the ODL, correct? At our station, management gives ODLs and 8 hour day, so we grieve it and get made whole to 12/60. Most ODLs get free money because management violates Article 8 almost every day.

The people complaining are probably Gen Z people. They cry bitch and moan about EVERYTHING. You doing a good deed nick. I hustle hard to for my money as well. I work OT all the time except today. I also turned it down which is rare for me to do. I was just tired today. I already have OT plus a 6th day, so 1 day of no OT isn't gonna kill me. It was a very busy week, it was the busiest week since peak last year. 60 hrs is the perfect amount to work a week. That's how many I work a week as well. Anything more than 60 a week, you'll move to a higher tax bracket and get taxed more.

@@MailmanNick lol, my co-workers say the same thing. I just tell them it's because I served in the military. I don't have to do OT, I choose to do OT. I like money like you, and I've been broke as a joke before and I didn't like it at all. I'm a very picky spender. I pay bills and get the necessities. Just to let you know your 2 tier pay table is 100 percent going away for your new contract. I don't know what the new starting pay is gonna be..
