0:00 - 0:40 Alyssa's game! She saved the match! It went from the puddle match to "Alyssa game!"
0:41 She got the yellow but she cleaned it up! lol
0:51 We are going to talk about the USWNT vs Canada and The Sam Kerr story
1:13 USWNT Vs Canada. Always a tough match. SoCal had a storm!
1:30 Mexico vs Brazil and it was raining. And got the pitch very wet for the later match which was USWNT vs Canada.
1:45 Was the pitch playable?
1:55 When to call off the matches? Bad pitch management?
2:15 Why not have a shop vac? More technology? We read from Twitter. San Diego was not prepared for rain. Ever lol
3:00 Should they have called it off? They did a weird ball rolling "test" who should have called it off? Ref?
3:25 First play Trin slid hella on the pitch. Do you guys like these matches as viewers?
3:40 It's unwatchable to me. I am so worried someone is going to get hurt
4:00 Is this game about skill, luck, or surviving?
4:23 Hard to watch. Wet hair? Getting sick? lol jk
4:40 Did the pitch conditions upset you? Almost like Ireland and Albania
5:00 Winning on luck? Fair?
5:10 Jaedyn Shaw scored first!! Superstar! She's amazing!!!!!
5:45 First half was hard to watch. 2nd half they got some water off the pitch. Why not use a basement sub pump? lol
6:24 More ball tests? CONCACAF why did they not call it off?
6:54 The refs headsets went out!! Maybe call off the match?!!!!!
7:21 Canada had bad luck. Tierna Davidson stepped on Fleming. NOT a penalty? Most ppl think it was. I felt bad for them! And then another instance as well!
8:14 82 min Huitema SCORED!! very cool! 1-1 it was going to be a long night
8:40 These players were gassed!!!! running in water is very hard!
9:09 extra time Sophia Smith SCORED in the 99th min!!!!! But still more to go!
9:34 Final Seconds Canada PK!!!!! Alyssa got a yellow and Leon scored!
10:23 Sometimes I love Pks shootouts and sometimes i don't. I wasn't worried this time tho
10:40 Soph Smith took first USWNT PK!! Redemption of making a pk! She made it! Pumped for her
11:22 Alyssa saved first 2 Canada pk!! She was killing it!
11:40 ALYSSA MADE HER PK!! SHE IS AMAZING!! PK QUEEN!
12:05 She is the Shohei Ohtani of Soccer!! HAHA She is AMAZING!
12:24 Alyssa is not a flashy player so shes a bit underappreciated
12:40 Fleming missed her PK and Sarah's heart skipped a beat! haha fairyland! loved it!
13:05 Canada didn't have great Pks!
13:25 Sad when Alyssa retires! She's amazing! very cool match!
13:47 the tale of two games! SO long! Puddle-gate then Alyssa's match! haha
14:05 Wish they would have more of a blueprint when not to play matches
14:20 Alyssa is so cute when she is happy
14:40 Let's Talk about the Sam Kerr situation.
14:50 We read from an article about the First story that came out -
16:22 I was shocked to hear about this story. It happened a YEAR ago!
16:40 Sam didn't tell Australia. Surprised she didn't to give them a heads up
16:55 Body-cam footage will be released?
17:10 Yesterday we got word about the specifics of the situation
17:20 Getting arrested isn't good. I saw this on Twitter. She got drunk threw up and didn't want to pay 25 bucks? Seems kinda cheap lol I don't know if this is true
18:06 This wasn't good
18:20 Sam called Officer "stupid white Bastard" We read from an article
19:32 The racial component was that she called the officer stupid and white
19:42 My first reaction was that I'm glad that it's not what it could have been
19:57 Sarah and I do not believe this is a racial slur. But I know there are ppl out there who Do think it is. I have seen a lot around the web
20:20 I don't think all the people who have been talking about have been in "good faith" who really believe it. I think its a lot of ppl who just dislike Sam
20:40 America might be different from UK?
20:50 The police officer wanted to make an example of her?
21:00 The first thing that happened being disorderly wasn't good. But This added "charge" makes ppl be more in Sams' Corner?
22:10 We read memes... Sam does have supporters
22:28 There is a nuanced conversation about racism. And I think those conversations can be helpful for understanding differences.
23:00 Sam throwing up in the cab not paying the bill is the bigger issue in some respects?
23:20 What was your thought when you first heard the charges? and what did you think after?

Okay, i dont wanna be rude, but, Sam calling a police officer "white" is the minimum of racial damage. I dont know what its like in the UK, but police officers here in the US get called much worse things. Also, did the police officer REALLY feel harrased by these words, or did he actually feel afraid of a 5'6 women that weighs under 150 pound?!?!!? Im just sayin, it must of REALLY hurt his fEeLiNgS. Idk, i think this whole issue is serious, but like... come on

I don’t know the full story, but I do believe a person’s skin colour (no matter what it is) should not be brought into a disagreement or argument, it’s not relevant. As for Sam Kerrs behaviour, in refusing to pay the cost for the cleaning of the taxi after she vomited in it, is disgraceful. The argument of whether you like her or not, is not the point here. The point is she is a guest in England, The police officer was I imagine trying to do their job. It does seem odd, if it happened in January 2023, that she has only just been charged. But then we do not have the full context of what occurred. Plus this is English law and not American. Sam is an extremely prominent and widely renowned player, often in the public eye. Probably idolised by many young impressionable children. She is not setting a good example to them, of how to conduct yourself. Shame on you Sam Kerr, you have definitely not covered yourself in glory, with this.

I'm a US citizen and a retired criminal prosecuting attorney. I personally don't understand how a criminal charge involving angry words uttered to a police officer could possibly take a year to make it this far, but evidently here we are. What concerns me from the limited reports is the possibility that Sam Kerr would risk her status by getting into an argument requiring police intervention after drinking. If that's the case, I hope she gets help!

Until now I've been a huge Sam Kerr fan, so I'm certainly not a bad faith actor. What she's achieved in the WSL, NWSL and J league, aside from her great exploits with Australia, is phenomenal and she is without doubt one of the very best players in the women's game. Just look at the times she has been a league top scorer and the important goals she has come up with in key matches. I would argue though that she has acted in bad faith by trying to brush the incident under the carpet and not even declaring it to her employers, which she will be bound to do by her contract. Trying to squash the case for process reasons rather than with the truth is also a bit suspect to me. I must admit I find it amazing that if she is guilty of saying 'stupid, white' cop, people would even try to defend that as a non-racist comment. Would you react the same if she said latino or black instead of white? If you put stupid before referring to the color of a person's skin how can that possibly not be a racist insult? If she is innocent, great but if not in my opinion she deserves to be held to account, jail time is too extreme but maybe community service and awareness training - and the captaincy/sponsorship should go, as racism is an ugly look for role models that young people to look up to.

The USWNT-CANWNT match should have been postponed but lets be real, its CONCACAF we are talking about here. They would have let that match go ahead in knee deep water rather than foot the bill for postponing it. The reaction in Australia to Sam Kerr's incident has been mostly one of amusement and relief from Matildas fans. Amusement because it is seen as typical Aussie behaviour abroad and relief because she didn't racially abuse a fellow person of colour.

The problem is the artificial surface. It does not allow the water to drain. Big difference in Europe etc is the use of actual turf & because as in the UK we have boat loads of rain most of the time so the pitches are designed to enable run-off of excessive water. Choosing a stadium that has real turf (just in case it rained) for an international game should have been a priority. Some commenters saying that football isn't such a big deal in the US so less care is put into preparation.....for 4 time winners of the World Cup. Seems disrespectful. Finally, the rule is that if the ball does not bounce on the playing surface the game cannot be played......it wasn't moving let alone bouncing.

In my country, this whole Sam situation would have been a non-issue. It would not have even made the local news maybe a video circulating but that's all. The most she would have gotten here is misbehaviour in public if charged at all. I can't say how the charge and fine would be but it's all she would have gotten. Even if she got sick in the taxi she would have just been dropped off. I think the UK wants to stamp out racism so much that it's too extreme. My problem though is that so many people are judging her as if at some point in our lives we haven't said or done something under the influence that we regret. I think the incident happened after Chelsea won a game in which she scored a hat trick. So yes maybe it was celebrating too much and heightened emotions. Now this isn't making excuses but I'm just saying that I can understand how what she did happened then and if had she been sober maybe not.

Second comment, not on football. My gran was asked, by a busy body, how she would let my mum marry a black man (my dad - imagine eastern Mediterranean looking). I lived in an inner city and kids all just mixed. Later the white population declined and kids used to shout the same thing Sam is accused of at my sports team. The really stupid thing was my captain, who we elected, was mixed race and dark skinned. I resemble my fair skinned mother. I always thought it a stupid thing to say, because I saw it from both sides. The captain and I were invited on a stag do with a bunch of Sikh lads. They went to Bernard Manning's club. That was a night out. Bernard singled me out for my appearance, but I was the one laughing inside. I refer you back to the start.

Let's be brutally honest the only reason the "Waterworld" match continued was due money. The organizers and the TV rights were the main reason this match continued, the ref wanted it called but she had no power against the money makers. Christina UNkle's post states the facts. (She rocks btw and lawyer she is showed it was NOT up to the ref.) Sam Kerr's "Stupid white bastard" comment seems like an extreme reaction given how she identifies as white aussie. So it makes one think what the lines are and are they too *snow flaky* can black people no longer be allowed to use the N-word with each other and it must be cut from all rap music lyrics? An intriguing question given the hyper sensitivity of the times and the younger gen's. Seems like if the officer was another race etc then , yes charge her, but this seems the police was being a *dick*. (The throwing up in a cab is separate incident, yes, she must pay but the language charge was silly imo but I am an old fossil what do I know?)

Its true that its the referee's decision to postpone or cancel a match due to irregular playing conditions on the pitch, but they are also under a lot of pressure in tournaments because of money and schedule reasons. It might have been better to postpone the match for at least an hour to try to get more water out of the pitch to reduce injury risks. Anyway the match was played and Canada put up a strong fight against the USWNT, but Alyssa Naeher was just a too big opponent. There always are some goalkeepers who are very good in converting penalty shots, like Alyssa. I don't think that calling someone a "white bastard" is enough to be considered a racial slur. Here in Austria you can be charged with insulting an officer, for which you usually getting a fine,

Hello Sarah and Sara. Controversy on the pitch and off this week. Did the authorities get the decisions right? Soggy pitch and soggy taxi, apparently. P.S. England has had, for some years now, a Crown Prosecution Service that decide on whether to go to court. Some say we copied the D.A. in US. It means decisions can be interpreted as "political" by those who see it that way.

CONCACAF blames the ref, but the chief ref consulted the match commissioner and even showed him how the ball could not move properly and he nixed her concerns. The bosses put scheduling and sponsor revenue before player safety. We've seen this happen continually in women's football. When Casey Stoney, coach of San Diego Wave, complained about pitch conditions that endangered her players, she was fined $8,000 by the league!

Insulting a police officer is a crime. This is logical, because they represent the public authority, and an insult can be construed as inciting violence against them. However the circumstances are everything: getting insulted by a drunk from the back of a cab in the middle of the night is not the same as getting insulted by somene riling up a crowd, or some politician, mob boss etc. So yes, this is clearly a case of overreach by the the British police. The alleged racism and the keeping the charge for so long, is just them flexing their muscle - they probably have been threatening Kerr for this whole time with making the story public. Good for Sam that she took a cab - safest way to get home. Good that she did not plead guilty. For the rest, yeah, she made some bad decisions, nothing to be proud of.

let the authorities handle it, if he is guilty he should be punished according to the offense, just because you are his fans and he is a little famous doesn't mean he can't be punished for his behavior. I follow women's football such as the liga F and WSL leagues, and I'm a fan of Barcelona women. I saw how Sam celebrated his goals and wins, especially when he and his team won the London derby, the way they celebrated was too excessive and slightly offended the team and personal of their opponents, both celebrations on the field and personal posts on their Instagram, it shows how arrogant they are. so many players are better than them but don't celebrate like them. when she got her ACL injury I didn't really feel sorry for her, I don't know why, I think she and her team were a bit under the impression that things like that were just normal before it happened to them, I also follow other big teams in the WSL like Citi Women and Arsenal Women and Manchester Women , when the Arsenal acl couple made a documentary about the process they went through to the point of returning as football players again, for some reason I felt it was a little connected to Sam's post about the Netflix documentary after the operation was over as it touched a little on what the Arsenal players did and showed that I could make a better documentary than you guys like on Netflix, that's my opinion. I'm just expressing my opinion, and in my opinion, racist and arrogant behavior is not good, and karma is always there, there are times when they are at the top and times when they are at the bottom.

Outside of the obvious that the rain resulted in a water logged pitch putting players at risk of injury, & made conditions not playable, it also just was simply silly bordering ASININE to watch. It was nothing like watching the professional game of football, nothing like the game we know & love, it felt like it was more like watching professional slip n slide more than football.. I mean, the ball couldn't move more than a few feet, passing was challenging, players sliding 4-5 ft after falling. It easily could have been a blooper real. It was simply absurd. And the fact that it was a semi-final, it 1,000% should have been postponed. However, both teams had to play under the same conditions, the same challenges (you could argue the US scoring side the 1st half was worse, no question. Bigger handicap) With that said, the team that rose to the occasion best under such conditions took the W in the end. Glad no players were hurt. Game of very small margins, in this case very small wet margins. CONCACAF dodged a bullet with no one getting hurt.

The cop that filed the complaint was fired. He was fired for revenge porn scandal, having sex while on duty with another officer and giving a 17yr old girl rides. There's more but this is a desperate man trying to make a play for money

Sam was wrong and should be accountable for her doings. Any time is a good time for an apology to the officer and her fans. Even if you didn't want it, she is a role model for many.

The apology has to be very carefully worded because at this point an apology can be misunderstood as an admission of guilt now that it is a legal matter.

@@asddewijklcHow do you know the officer is cis/straight? At best it's discrimination based on skin color.

Yes, she should be made accountable and sent back to Australia.

Is Sam Kerr indigenous ? That would make this make more sense to me as to why she used the word white? It isn’t racial, because racism is specific to the systemic and structural oppressions birthed out of capitalism against black and brown people. A white person can never ever experience racism since white supremacy birthed racism and the system always benefits white people. I think they are confusing the words discrimination or prejudice, which is likely what the “cop” experienced in this context. I am speaking to this as an American and how racism was birthed here in American. The global common denominator would be colonialism- which has done similar things across the globe.

Sam is not indigenous. Her father has Indian heritage. She's probably been racially abused herself, growing up in Australia.

She may have indigenous Australian ancestry on her mum's side, I'm not sure. Wikipedia notes that her father, Roger Kerr, was born in India, to an English father and Indian mother. So she's of 1/4 Indian ancestry, possibly more non-white than that depending on what her mum's ancestry is.

I think you're confusing systemic racism such as colonialism and white fragility structures with personal racism, which is where someone treats another person differently because their skin color is not the same as theirs, they speak a different language or have different religious beliefs - or even just because they're a foreigner. As a white person I experienced racism in Japan when travelling on the metro system during a football tour out there. Japan is an interesting example in that it is a very insular society still, where many foreigners are discriminated against racially, black, brown and white. There are really so many examples of non-white racism around the world from the persecution of the Rohingya in Myanmar to antisemitism, lack of rights for Tamils in Sri Lanka etc. etc. I suggest you look at a broader view of racism, rather than see it as solely through a very narrow black and white narrative.

What she said was racist, whether she uses a specific racial slur or not, that type of behaviour is racist. If you bring someone's race into it, especially in that way, it's racist. I'm going to unsubscribe

Sam should have compensated the taxi driver. It’s as simple as that. Chelsea should sack her!
