Thanks! Probably the best “how to” Dyson video ever I’ve seen. Well done!

Thank you for identifying all the screw points. I have a variant of this head where the back roller is replaced by a bar with 2 small rollers that get hair and threads wrapped around them. Essentially the same disassembly to get this bar out just so that you can get access to the back side of that bar to push the pins out that are the roller shafts and remove tightly packed hair and fluff. A bit of effort, but worthwhile to stop the drag.

Thanks for this comment! It is exactly what I was going to ask. Took me a minute to figure out how to push the pins out but now my wheels roll again. 35 years of cats wreak havoc on most vacuum cleaners. It's nice to know I can clean the Dyson without much trouble.

Thank you so much for this video, so clear and easy to follow! Ours had broken so I thought I’d give it a clean and see if I could locate the problem at the same time. One of the wires going into the motor had snapped so I soldered them back together and heat shrinked. Works perfectly again now and is as clean as new!!

Super helpful. You asked if there was anything else. I am wondering if my motor is burnt out. I'd like to see/know if the motor is supposed to visibly turn (without the head on it). Not sure if that is truly something you could show since it might have to be all locked together to show this. Really amazing as I couldn't even figure out how to open the darn thing and then you were taking me through step by step. Thanks!

This was soooo helpful for us! Thanks for taking the time to walk us through how to reassemble. We actually feel a bit mechanical. Not bad for a couple of teachers!

This job went like clockwork until I dropped on of the short little black mufgn screws. My wife brought in her other Dyson and vacuumed the area then examined the stomach contents of the vacuum. Yeay, found it! Your tuturial was excellent, even for somebody who clutzes out from time to time.

Thanks for this video. This is my one dislike of my Dyson. For my next purchase I will be sure to research the head cleaning process between competitors because this takes too much time, too frequently. It's particularly bad if women with long hair are in the house because hairs get wrapped on the wheels and bearings.

Good video; clear and to the point. On my V8 soft roller assembly, one of the short screws is very slightly shorter than the others and I had hoped to learn in which position it belongs by watching this video but you did not address it. Perhaps mine is different than yours? In any case, through process of elimination I determined it attaches the left end cap (looking from the bottom) from the inside; the screw head is inside (on the roller side) and threads outwards into the end cap. Also, I have learned through many years of reassembling things that when reinstalling self tapping screws back into plastic parts it is best to first turn the screw counterclockwise until it seats back into its original thread channel. This helps to avoid tearing up and stripping the thread hole after several reassemblies. Cheers.

All I needed was to remove the roller, remove stuck items, replace the roller. I don't understand the need to take it apart completely. Thank you.

Haha yeah. I mean you can cut corners and use a rag and shove it up around the motor. It’s just when I charge someone to clean it they want it don’t perfectly. So that’s the way I do it ☺️🤷‍♂️

Hey Richard, I just got one of these for Christmas. I used it 1x and it was AMAZING, for the first 30 minutes. Now it seems broken. The attachment "pulses" like every 3-5 seconds it stops and starts again. It feels like it basically stops the moment it hits "full speed". This is on both max and regular setting, with battery fully charged over night. I just tried it again and the problem remains. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary that happened to make this begin, just rolling on the hardwood floor. I just used the carpet attachment with the long tube and it works perfectly. Any ideas?

This usually means you have some stuff blocking the vacuum - could be in the head (try manually rotating the roller back and forwards) or often closer to the base unit. Could be as simple as a bit of paper that is being sucked over on full power for example. Happens to me all the time - super annoying.

I’ve seen that and few times. It’s likely that hair has caused some binding and friction which causes heat and the plastic parts have fused together. I don’t have much advise besides trying to carefully pry it out from the stuck side. If you figure out a better way be sure to comment how you accomplished it

@@richardsvacuumcenter I managed to forcefully pulled it out and found the motor bearing part broken into few pieces. The motor wires also snapped. I bought a replacement for the motor bearing part but have yet to fix it as i have yet to solder back the broken wires.

You just can't put it in the dishwasher?
@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter Жыл бұрын
you could if you want to (assuming no electric parts go in). I have tried that method sort of and wasn't completely happy with the results compared to using brushes to agitate the dirt out of all the little corners and crevices for as close to perfect results as possible. It just depends on your own standard!

Does anyone know how to make a proper tutorial? You have to show every step. The back is already removed in this video.

This is what I don't like. You seem to need a screwdriver for practically everything thed days to do the simplest of jobs.

Yeah :/ i hear you. However, if you plan to do it yourself, it's a pretty reasonable expectation to know you may need more specialized tools for certain things.
