In this video I show how to take apart and clean the Dyson v7 animal hoover.
As mentioned in the video some of the steps need to be done extra carefully or they may break some parts and invalidate any warranty you have!
I hope this video helps and please do subscribe if you like this content!

Great video! 4 more tiny T7 screws, and you can split the Medusa looking thing on top and take it apart. I am talking about the plastic piece with that red gasket. If you want to do that, it is a T7 and you will need a thin extension (or a seperateT7 "screw driver") for the tool she bought. It needs to be about 5 inches long to get down into Medusa's head and reach those 4 screws. Very easy to do if you have taken it apart to this point. Also, if you do it, there is the red gasket and another black one I almost missed because it blended in with the shadows and dust in mine. I took a picture after I separated it, I just don't see a way to upload a picture to this.

Actually, it is well explained. Nothing is bulletproof. If someone takes it apart and just thinks a little bit, before go bunkers. Then the demonstration is very useful. I so often watch things like this, because so often there is just some little discovery by a demonstration like yours, that can be super helpful, not running in circles and become frustrated. I smile, I got it working, as your easy talk talked me in just to do it. Yes now he is the Vacuum cleaner that runs in circles again. Thank you very much.

thank you very much for this video, i didnt know the filter came apart. just a quick note there are some components that i personally wouldnt have submerged but probably a safer way would be playing compressed air into it as that would get the dust out of the crevasses (would need to be done outside) you can get a can of compressed air for electronic cleaning from poundland for £1

@@allthingsmumlifeUK no, it’s a vacuum cleaner. Dyson is a make of vacuum cleaner and Hoover is another make. We should really call the action “vacuuming” and not hoovering. I think because most people in the 1950’s and 60’s had Hoovers, that the word hoovering came about then.

My experience: If you’re following this video I suggest you do not take the rubber seal off the collection bin. I spent nearly two hours off and on trying to get the bloody thing back on so that the bin flap would stay closed while vacuuming. I just took it to the vacuum repair shop and now waiting for a technician to solve it.

Oh no sorry to hear this happened to you!! As mentioned in this video it is very hard to get and off but if you want to get all the dirt out it’s essential! I think if you suffer from arthritis or anything along those lines this would be a near on impossible step to do (with respect), after completing this clean a few times I managed to get the knack of putting it on and off easier! Did you also try using a tool to push it back in place? (Like I did in this video with a flat head screw driver)

Another video does not reccomend immersing the vac head as it has a motor in it, but other than that thanks for a very well presented how to which really helped me get my dyson going properly again, my problem was that I used baking soda on some doggy stains while it was damp the damp baking soda was about the worst thing I could have put through the vac it was like concrete when it did dry.

The bit I want to take off is the red ring around the top of the bin. I found the screw inside the bin but when it comes to releasing it from the bit where the white wire goes in, it feels like it’s going to break, even though there’s a screw under there to get the silver nozzle bit off, so it must come off?

Swooshing it. You're swooshing it :D . Given that it takes 24 hours to dry before it can be used, again, I might just take a paint brush to mine. I'm waiting for the cleaning of the motor and filter and all the internal gubbins because it doesn't seem to matter which head I have on - it's on and off and on and off and that's no way to get a floor cleaned.
@ellat2534
@ellat2534 2 ай бұрын
This is good demonstration but I wouldn’t meddle too much with the internal parts, especially those screwed ones. I can see how you can damage the parts with too much poking. I wouldn’t risk damaging mine because there’s a reason why they’re screwed in the first place. Removable parts are enough

You have to remember. Dysons digital motor technology is sensitive. And has sensors. Even without the LCD screen like the v15 and other models the circuit board on the powerhead digital motor controls the vacuum motors performance and the periferies around it. This being said the digital motor has software in that circuit board and is much like a computer and controls a driver. Now the driver inputs from the powerbrush and outputs vary as the powerbrush goes from hardwood floors to carpet due to slight resistance or load this in turn acts as a load sensor and also adjusts the speed of the powerheads digital motor even at the highest setting to meet the needs of the vacuums performance. Now if water enters into the small roller bearings in the powerbrush end and rust and oxidation occurs then the powerbrush can't spin freely which in fact can impair suction performance and if the load is to strong because of grimy water getting past the motor seals the digital motor computer may bypass the powerbrush mode and disable it and flash a yellow code on the LED indicator. Water damages the internal components of the direct drive motor. Best thing is to replace the direct motor. Even though dry you may now have contaminated the bearings in the direct drive motor and it may work for a while until the bearings pile up. Bad idea submerging the whole head with motor in water, even briefly.

1:09 - you should not immerse the head in water. That central spindle is the motor and water will wreck electrical contacts in the motor because water leaves deposits when it dries - soapy water more so. You can use 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to clean the head. That will shift dirt better than water and can be used to clean any electronics or electrical contacts because it dries pretty much immediately and leaves nothing behind. Good video though

But why? It's supposed to **do** the cleaning, not **need** cleaning. If it works don't fix it! You just risk damaging it. The filters need washing from time to time and ultimately replacing when it won't stop pulsing with the filters on. And you need to unblock it -- far too often -- if you use it for real cleaning. But if cleaning cleaners is what turns you on, then enjoy!

Very helpful video, but why are you calling it a Hoover? That is a completely different brand. Is this some British quirk, like how some Americans used to say "I need a Kleenex"? It's great when a brand reaches such ubiquity that people begin to use the brand name as a term ("just google it"), but this is an insult to Dyson!! This is a completely different and superior product to an old-fashioned Hoover brand vacuum cleaner... Please call it by the correct name (calling a Dyson a "Hoover" just sounds ignorant) and remove the word "hoover" from the description! And then please re-record over all your audio to say VACUUM! Would you make a car video and call your Honda a Ford all the time!? LOL Also you really need to invest $2 in a plastic pry tool set on eBay rather than destroying your $300-800 vacuum using a screwdriver to pry things off and damage all the plastic!
