This mini yoga flow focuses on the softer side of yoga by inviting you into restorative postures that support your parasympathetic nervous system. Restorative yoga focuses on longer holds in restful poses while allowing yourself to soften into the stillness of the shape. These poses are supported through the use of bolsters, blankets, and blocks.
When you combine restorative practices with a contemplative mindset, you can downregulate into states of calmness. However, a sense of safety is always rooted in choice, and resting in stillness can never be forced. Just as you may need to build up tolerance to engage in strength training or endurance exercises, you may also need to build up a tolerance for restful states.
Each restorative shape offers you an opportunity to invoke an inward turn, direct your attention away from the stimulation of the outer world, and nourish yourself with your own awareness.
