The story in 3... is okay. It's better than the second one, does a better job of characterization, but it tends to drag on on some chapters and ends too abruptly, if I am going to compliment it for something is that it does a good job at covering some of the plot holes of the first game, mainly on why the war ended up being such a stalemate, and I like the fact that the unit knows what is failure as it fails quite a few times and aknowledge the war for what it is, a war. A lot of the maps are recycled maps and the UI is less intuitive than the second game but on the other hand we get better unit variety though they nerfed lancers a little too much imo. The antagonists are mostly interesting except the sexualized nearly characterless one and some certain character who does a 180° degree turn when it comes to his motivations, it was too excessive. Overall, I like valkyria chronicles 3 for what it is and I completely aknowledge its defaults. I think the game would have been much better if it was shorter and if it wasn't for the hardware limitations

I played VC 3 and bored to death, I spend more then 100 hours in VC 2

I can see why tbh. It does use alot of assets from VC2 but the story is what kept me going.

Those games could seriously benefit from an HD re-release. there is hope since the first game was re-released on PS4.

Vague spoilers for the game: Even with that, the "colorblindness" in VCII does not work like that. It literally made a person COMPLETELY black and white colorblind just from a traumatic incident of seeing blood several years ago. And the worst part is that it magically gets cured in a overcoming PTSD cliched moment. Regardless of real life blood colorblindness, the way its handled in this game is still really dumb.

Hayo, I just noticed that the going online price for the physical copy of VC1 on PS3 has dropped to about $20 these days-!! I'm starting to see a few used copies in my local retail stores as well. Regardless, the PS4 remastered edition is the quintessential way to play this gem of a game, even if its improvements are negligible.

I realise this is six months after the fact but I recently beat Valkyria 2 so I have it fresh in my head. Spoilers ahead: Zeri and Mischlitt are Darcsens, and up until very recently, Lanseal did not accept Darcsens as applicants. This much is established quite early in the game, especially whenever Juliana (Class A's chair) gets on her high horse around Zeri. So despite their characterisation as intelligent and diligent people who are perfectly capable of acing exams, it's quite likely they were dumped in Class G because of their race. On a related note, Helmut is an Imperial exchange student that nobody trusts, and Zahum, despite being royalty, is from another country completely removed from Gallia and the Empire and the pair of them still land in Class G. Now the real kicker is that the alphabetical naming system was not actually in reference to a given student's performance on their entry exams - though the academy claimed it was. In reality, it was a way of organising and grading how likely a student was to become a successful Artifical Valkyria - should they later be selected for the experiment. This was worked out based on the results of the same "aptitude test" that established that Avan could be any unit class. A to F grades ranked people from best to worst candidates for experimentation. The people in Class G were all anomalies that couldn't be graded based on the results, but since the academy claimed that the letter grades were based on exam performance, Class G ended up with the reputation of being the absolute worst.

Thankfully it has since been re-released on the PS4
