Such a good version of the song, the studio version is super multi-tracked, but he somehow figured out a live arrangement for this that made sense with just a single guitar.

Seventh Seal kicked off the album pretty good...

One of the best songs in one of the best VH albums ever, song- and sound-wise.

Oh this whole album was pure 100% Rock! Powerful song... Feeling was another powerful song.

They were on bad terms by this point. Eddie came out and said he hated Sammy's lyrics on Amsterdam during the pre album press. I knew they were done when I heard that interview on Westwood 1.

It's allowed to like Roth and hagar.

David Gadea yeah he tears it up in this song. He plays this song well on the album but right here he plays it absolutely perfect. The way he structures his part. It’s a straight ahead rock rhythm with a bunch of progressive type fills in between. He plays to suit the song. He will play straight forward when Sammy’s singing and then goes nuts when it’s the instrumental. I like this era of Van Halen and wish it would of kept going a lot longer. During this time Eddie and Alex were being more progressive in their playing. Multiple solos and that outtro at the end with the double bass slowly building as Eddie is playing a riff and also slowly building up to his solo at the end. You’ll notice Alex is doing the triplet bass drum patterns and then into full double bass drum rhythm right as Eddie also starts his full speed shredding part of the solo. They’re not just mimicking each other parts. It’s more like a hard rock with a twist of jazz thrown in.

David Gadea you don’t suck if Edward Van Halen doesn’t like playing with any other drummer but you. They read each other’s minds. Alex is a monster!!

@@davidmerlin3344 He actually is. In the 80's, even after VH released songs live 'Hot For Teacher', people would be all blah-blah Tommy Lee, etc. or later on blah-blah Lars Ulrich, etc. Big Al never seemed to get the credit he was due.

Ed was the complete package. To have the skill, ability, tone chasing, groove, writing, you have to literally live with your guitar in your hands all day every day. He had an unbelievable work ethic.

just brilliant this album, i love the way Eddie looks in this phase of his life, not to talk about his playing, because his riffs in this album are dam genius, i really miss this van halen so much

@@allthework9812 vic is much better technically then Jimmy page i have seen him live 7 times with sammy . Their is only so many guys on eddies level , one was a guy he loved named Allan Holdsworth .

@@mariomessina6389 technical skill really doesn’t matter then. Jimmy was able to influence millions and millions, write countless timeless riffs, and the whole 9 yards. Vic is just a cover guitar player in a band that plays power chords

It’s crazy how two people can dislike each other so much and still make great music together.

I think Fair Warning is the closest they came to a Revolver (best Beatles album). But they never were that kind of band. Eleneor Rigby? For No One? Day in the life?

I've always prefered van Halen with Hagar ever since I heard humans being. Roth was awesome, but I prefer the sound of the hagar era. Call me a poser or fake fan if you feel that I am, but its just my opinion.

Love VH. I know that DLR was a frontman but Sammy is the man. Just listen to “ Good Enough”. They were back. Go over each of the Van Hagar albums and there are no weak ones….period.

He was quite healthy (sober) in this 1995 era.

@@AlexanderTerminator He was not sober. He stopped drinking for a short period of time after he cut all his beautiful hair off. Valerie said in her book that as the conflict with Sammy escalated Ed started drinking again.

I think they were musically at their best in the studio with Dave. They were best live with Sammy.

Dave sucks. I love the DLR era records a lot more than the Van Hager albums, but you can't compare the two as vocalists. Sammy is in another dimension.

@@OcelotDAD agree. Early Dave was great. Not the most technically gifted singer, but had a good voice. I love the screams and his persona does come through in his voice. He got worse live through the years. Then he became bloody awful, like how does he struggle to sing jump? It's so easy, it's not like Sammy who struggles to sing dreams, which is a difficult song to sing
