My mom had horrible varicose veins and dealt with blood clots her whole life. In her late 60's, she had several major blockages in her heart. She wasn't a candidate for bypass (because of her veins), but they had just started using stents in the US, so that's what they did. No one believes this story and her doc was shocked too, but shortly after getting the stents, all her varicose veins were gone. I know it shouldn't have happened and no one has much of an explanation, but it's true. She lived another 20 years and had no problems.

I went a few months back to the local Vein specialist for a consult for my varicose veins on my legs, and I mentioned that they are causing me pain. The doctor stated that varicose veins don't cause pain. Never went back to that doctor again.

WILD... I had varicose veins in the back of my legs in high school and in my 20's. I never experienced discomfort, but did have episodes of legs swelling and throbbing in horrible pain, unable to walk. Growing up on a farm, I was treated like a hired hand and was able to be on my HS swim team. I was instructed by my mother the solution was to wrap the area of my leg in a hot towel soaked with Epsom salt solution, wrapped in plastic and by morning the leg recovered. With age they disappeared, never to return, I am now 70 and the only inflammation is my knee and hip. Thanks for the great information!

Actually there is something you can take, to take care of the varicose vein problem. My uncle had them and they were painful. He would take one clove of garlic twice a day and they completely went away. He also had a bump on the left side of his forehead, caused by a golf ball, when he was a teenager; that too, went away. He continues to take garlic, because of all the health benefits it has, when he feels that he needs to.

My wife developed some nasty veins on her legs after our second child. Years later, when they eventually started giving her trouble, she opted for the Radio Frequency ablation technique. The results were astounding. Working out, post procedure, certainly assisted big time in the recovery and sped up the healing process. Looking back, I would suggest having them treated sooner rather than later. Great video.

Early 60's started getting venous insufficiency in both legs and was put on Dafflon. Feet and ankles frequently puffy and could not see the normal exposed veins on my feet which had always been visible since childhood. Later discovered it was mostly because I wasnt exercising enough. Started walking 5,000 steps a day minimum, recorded on my cell phone, and I could see the veins on my feet again... puffiness GONE !!

This is a very serious subject for me, I was a very active healthy man, only 46 years of age, most of my peers could not keep up with me. I developed varicose veins and went to a doctor that was a “Thoracic Surgeon” he was running a. Ken clinic, I guess there were not enough heart attacks in our community for him to be as busy as needed to live his lavish lifestyle. Anyway he performed a vein stripping on my right leg, and later I went home and had a stroke, he introduced an air embolism into my leg that made its way to my brain, via a PFO in my heart, which means a hole in the upper chambers of the heart that allows gas to travel through one side to the other, this is not a good thing, and I have since learned about 25 percent of the population have these PFOs and don’t know it, just like I didn’t. Anyway if you’re thinking about getting a vein stripping you better be 100 percent sure you don’t have this condition, one out four of you reading this post has the same hole in your heart, it doesn’t affect your life in anyway O’Neil you have a quack introduce air into your bloodstream, apparently there is no need to check for PFOs in our area, I do t know what the rules are in your area, but BEWARE! Doctors need money! They may believe the hippocratic oath is the hypocritical oath

I was suffering from varicose veins for over 15 years, It was swollen and heavy I thought they were going to explode in 2010 I decide to have it checked and contact New York veins and had sonogram and they told me I need surgery and they removed the veins cutting along side of my legs, I felt some pain they close the vein with laser it was burning it felt like when you get shot with a gun burning inside, now 13 years later I still never have problems again and my legs looks like nothing ever happened, I have to say thank you to the wonderful doctor for the good job they did, I don't remember theirs names, but the surgeon was a Porto Rican It was a very good decision provably prolonged my life.
