Hi ! Thanks a lot for this review, Zee. In addition to your presentation, i will explain why i choosed to give a +10 to the jersey leader. The leader is quite always the favorite target for all the tortoise effects. So the leader has a big chance to see his hand being weakened by all these attacks. Having the jerky leader card is a good way (for me) to counterbalance this "bash the leader" behavior.

In Germany we have a game - played with normal Canasta cards - called Kaiser-Ar*chloch (Emperor-a**hole). Can be played with 2 to 14 players. It's actually that game. I bet you know this! ;)

We love the game but find the stealing too fiddly and slows the game down for a negligible effect. About once per game it foils someone's hand. It's usually a wash. And that's with everyone saving 1s until the end of the round. We now just give the jersey to the losing player and ignore the stealing effect. It makes the game smoother and a bit more fair although getting a good hand in round 5 is pretty critical.

Wow so nice for the designer to give his thoughts on this :) My understanding of why the leader gets that +10 card was to counter the negative that Zee gave himself regarding those first 2 rounds. Yes, you won't be racking up many points for coming first in rounds 1-2 compared to rounds 3-5, however gaining that +10 card gives real incentive for players to still try and win those first few rounds. As Zee said, it is like making the rich richer, but it also makes players engage with the game in those first few rounds. (PS I haven't actually played the game yet but expecting delivery of it soon. Needed to add a trick taking game to my collection and it was on offer for about £5 with Chaos Cards in UK. Looks like a lovely fun little time waster and can't wait to get it to the table!)

Haven't played this, but I'm wondering if the jersey card is to make the first couple rounds matter? Simulating the momentum of leading the first stretches of a race?

The game has wonderful parallels to bicycle racing. The jersey card is the reward for being the current leader and hence a head start for the next stage (an edge to defend the lead). But, this puts a target on the leader for the rest of the pack and the pack must work together to reel in the leader (perhaps some coordinated "passing", some stealing of the leader's cards). And then, who from the pack will break away to become the new leader. Love it!

I would think that the plus 10 card adds weight to those early low scoring rounds - gives them more of a purpose - win to get that card.

in 2 player game if your last played set contains 2s, should you draw cards for every 2s, or you finished, and score points?

I wonder if it would be a decent house rule to just remove the jersey card from the game? Going to get the game and will try that.

Seems quite similar to Dealt! / Krass Kariert but without some of the more interesting hand management things that one adds.

Totally agree with Zee about the carrot jersey. Could be MINUS 10 points... Otherwise, a damn fun game !

The card with the "tee shirt" is a reference to the "red dots" shirt given to the best cyclist in the mountain in the french race "tour de france". So it is not given to the last 😉 It is also a word play: Red dots means "pois rouges" The shirt has peas and carrots on it, in french "petit pois carottes". Same word to say dot and pea 😉

We have played it yesterday and all of us didnt enjoyed it really :/ feels like super random and except of the 1 you aint got a big choice or different tactics 🤷‍♂️
