What’s the movie about?
The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character - Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers - transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?

I like how this is one of the few movies where a group of highly trained swat officers were able to adapt to the situation in front of them, and started spamming the weakness that they knew it had as soon as they found it out

For as much as I enjoyed the movie. The one thing that always got me is that the swat guys are surprised when venom comes out. So they showed in numbers like that with all that gear and were about to smoke grenade one sweaty homeless-looking guy before arresting for the shits and giggles.

It looks like the only weapons that the SWAT officers had which seem to inflict any harm on Venom at all were the flashbangs. Which is ironic, considering that they were designed to be non-lethal.

@Aiden Jones I think those flashbangs are more effective against a bonded symbiote than you realize. The areas on Venom's body that were closest to the blasts were coming undone. Sure, they seem to reform shortly thereafter. But, judging by the way he screams and flinches, the effects seem to be painful enough to stun him briefly. And, having it done multiple times in rapid succession appears to wear him down, somewhat. Not sufficiently so, in this case. But, the tactic is still sound.

@@ink3487 I know why the stun grenades were more effective against him than the assault rifles. I'm just pointing out the irony of the situation: the flashbang blasts; which are meant to stun, did more damage to Venom than the AR bullets; which are meant to kill.

@@Us3r739 the gun shots didn’t hurt him because he’s a symbiote, the bullets just get caught in the gooey mess that is Venom and fall off, the flash bangs however are both hot and loud so him being flashed like that in quick succession would hurt him.

As an action movie, it’s fine, but I feel like they missed the horror aspect of the biological parasite. Are movie makers unwilling to dive headlong into the creepy aspects? A tapeworm is scarier than Venom.
