I'm getting a pet hamster in a week and I've been researching a lot about them to give them the best home! You are by far the most useful to learn from, and I would've i would've bought a way smallest cage, but I didn't! thanks!! fyi I was going to buy a tiny tails cage but I ended up buying an aquarium

Aku Aretha thank you! I definitely plan To it’s a boy he’s being delivered to me in an hour and his enclosure is set up I’m extremely excited. They said he’s been blind since birth he’s a Syrian. The lady I’m getting him from said Ohh you know you can get another boy they can be together I said umm nah it’s okay lol

Night lite reads Can I ask what care differences come with adopting a disabled pet? I know their eyesight is pretty bad already, and if they still have whiskers I can imagine they’d still be able to have a happy life!

Anna S Erin’s Animals has a video on blindness in hamsters that’s the one that I looked up. I’m adopting from Craigslist so it’s more of adopting from a person so I won’t have to do anything to extra on that end. But in that video there were some helpful tips for the owners. Like I don’t plan on moving things very much that way he doesn’t have to continue to learn where his things are. I also will probably on scatter feed a little bit because I want him to have a bowl and know where his food is and such.

Hey, I know this isn't really a hamster video but i wanted to say thank you. My hamster passed on saturday from old age. The reason I'm thanking you is because you taught me how to care for the Syrian hamster belle if I didn't do my research she would have been a sad hammy in a critter trail. She died while in my arms on her side. I carried her and had a mini funeral. So thank you for helping me give her a happy home..💙

My brothers room is across the hall from my room and my hamster is on the back room of my room and I slept in my brothers room and my hamster had in the middle of the night gotten out of its cage (idk how) and my brother woke me up saying something was behind his bed (he’s 16 and isn’t scared easily) so I looked and my hamster was right there

Ugh I hate having sick animals. My hamster just had wet tail and you know the feeling where your always worried about them so you check on them every five seconds. (Thankfully he is ok and he’s running on his wheel as I type this 😊)

My hamster has stopped being active at night, she wakes up at around half 7pm but goes to sleep again at around half 10, she used to sleep for about half an hour at night anyway but now she seems to be sleeping through quite a lot of the day, however i dont know if she wakes up again after 1am because im alseep! Any advice would be helpful

emily your hamster might be active at midnight or 1-6 am, but if your hamster is old (1-2 possibly 3 years old) then it might just be because of old age

emily she should be active when your sleeping then :) my hamster is the same and in the morning the whole cage is a mess. Make sure to check if anything moved in your cage or any bedding gets messed up, if any food has been eaten, or if the wheel has pee and bedding and stuff on it :)

@SweetlySoda my hamster just randomly squeaks for no reason, normally when shes sleeping in her hideout. Her cage is big enough she has the barney hamster cage one

Some hamsters are more vocal than others, just make sure nothing is scaring them or that they’re not ill :)

@@milliehi9546 it'll need to be an exotic vet since essentially any animal other than a cat or dog would be considered an exotic pet therefore you'll need a vet who has experience in them.

I got a question, I’m trying to tame my hamster but every time I put my hands in his cage he hisses, I’ve gave him 2 to 3 days to settle In but he acts like he doesn’t want to be tamed, any tips?🤔

i recommend putting a mug or something in his cage instead to grab him out! i have to do this with my hamster who i have had for a couple months! your hamster may be curious and crawl in and you can then slowly lift it out! my hamster had cage aggression so he gets very mad whenever you put your hand in his cage and your hamster might have that too! also keep in mind some hamsters will never be comfortable with hands in their cage so the mug method is the way to go!

Rub your hands on some tissue and give it to him so he gets to know your scent, offer him his favourite (healthy) treats, be patient, speak to him quietly so he gets used to your voice, etc.

Hi victoria 6 days ago I got a hamster (Syrian male) he is 11 weeks old I named him caremal he sleeps most of the time but when he's awake I play with him and make sure he is busy energetic and happy I follow your videos and thank you so much for all your hacks and progress
