@@caleb7882 it was lit up because of its instant-speed mana ability. It’s ability to change day to night and night to day is only at sorcery speed.

I don’t think so, because the life loss is considered part of Trespasser’s ETB trigger. If there was a separate line of text on the card that said, “whenever a creature card is exiled from a graveyard, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life,” then killing the creature would work, because then Trespasser would have to see a creature card leaving the graveyard. But because the life loss is attached to the ETB trigger, there’s nothing CGB could have done in this case.

And Celestus’ ability is only at sorcery speed

He would have had to think of it the turn before and activate celestus to play around trespasser

What about lobster bounce spell, and when he recast the trespasser, flame bolt on lobster, bounce spell?

@@CapraCheBela if CGB had had two 1-mana spells, then yes, that would have worked, with lobster on the battlefield. But he didn’t have enough mana to put the lobster on the battlefield, and two spells on the stack.

Situational reactive cards are better to split than play 4-ofs if there isn't a strictly best option. You would rather draw one copy each of make disappear and cut down and Rona's vortex than three copies of any one since they are better in diff situations, so you can line up the correct one for each threat.

@@LightsOutAce1 kind of right but bad example. If you play counter spells you always want at least 2-3. I think it's a recent trend to put more singles, started from some KZfaq gamer probably

@@yavivanov6650 why would it be better to play 2-3? I didn't get this idea from a KZfaqr, I got this idea from building competitive decks for 15 years. For example, Negate and make disappear and essence scatter are all better in different situations. You would rather run 1-1-1 or some such than 4 negate because drawing one of each is better than drawing multiple of any since they are easier to line up with opposing cards that way (negate and scatter sometimes dead against certain decks or hands, make disappear only good in the curve out stage of the game). Similarly, a split of cut down and infernal grasp and hero's downfall would be better than 4 of any since drawing all cut down could be bad against big creatures, multiple grasp costs too much life, and multiple downfall is too slow and you die on tempo

lmk how this works out I don't have enough rares for fable and bankbuster

@@impractically728 my results have been vastly improved. It's a grindy playstyle as you're sacrificing offensive firepower. But I feel my deck is more consistent and better equipped to handle threats. Added one Silver Scrutiny... which has done good work.

And infernal grasp, and cut down (maybe a 1-of). What's the win-con? Titan and Warden?

@@sethc.1366 grasp and cut down probably don't even make the deck. Maybe one cut. Warden is a great win con, as is the shock angel. Depending on the shell, titan might be not great. There's plenty to choose from though. Maybe with enough mid range bombs like planeswalkers you won't need a 7 drop

Win condition should be sheoldred cut of the profit and causality of gix With sheoldred in play cut of the profit becomes sphinx revelation and the gix enchantment can not only resurrect your sheoldred but it can also grab their creatures and search up removal or whatever it is that you need for measley three life I would recommend playing phryexian missionary as well since it can grab something from your yard and it has lifelink

Im playing abzan spirit sisters with a positive winrate in mythic.

Hey, what is the deck list you are referring to? Do you mean the old one about future meta? Cause this list shown here works only against specific meta seen in high Mythic numbers like every other Control list. Doesn't have enough card advantage and greed built in to race ridiculous 3 color piles or GW Enchantment based decks.

sadly it doesnt counter the card, just returns it to hand and the OP had 4 mana left over to recast the trespasser

he could just replay the trespasser and cgb had only two mana so he couldn't play a spell after that

@@Gunnss Not only would that gain him a life it would also change it to day making the trespasser only able to exile one creature. Can't blame him since The Celestus has a Questing Beast level amount of text.

CGB only had enough mana to cast either two Make Disappears, or the Hullbreaker and a Make Disappear with Casualty. The outcome would have been the same either way, because the opponent had enough mana available to pay for both options. As for the Celestus’ ability, it can only activate at sorcery speed.
