Lockharts x Jynx Volumizing Cream: www.lockhartsa... (CODE WHANG for 15% OFF)
During the late 90s, WWF's programming grew more mature with the Attitude Era. Although this greatly improved ratings, it drew the attention of the Parents Television Council, an organization that would try to get their advertisers to leave through a letter writing campaign. It backfired spectacularly.

The double turn between Austin and Hart was definitely a major point, and yes, KotR was the first recorded utterance of Austin 3:16 and "and that's the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so." But those are pieces of the puzzle. SO much more created the space in which Stone Cold smashed his way into stardom.

Corporations now follow the idea that the more vanilla and bland TV shows and games are, the bigger the audience they can appeal to and the more money they can make. recently Gamejolt purged all 18+ content claiming they did so after being asked by the user base (a big fat lie, both consumers and creators got pissed off this was made worse due to the fact the 'accidentally' purged all LGTQ+ Content something they tried to fix after facing outrage .. and the true reason they did this? it was all done in a bid to get accepted as a paid mobile app) Cartoon Network canceled an extremely popular cartoon Called Infinity Train because it didn't fit their "cartoons are for toddlers" mantra and dared to be thought provoking and challenge children's minds.

My cousin used to mimic wrestling moves on me to the point where I nearly damaged my shoulder since I couldn't really fight back. My parents weren't mad at wrestling for it. They just grounded my cousin for awhile *edit* Just so folks aren't confused. A bit of context. My Mom got legal custody for a time for my cousin because his parents were a bunch of abusive drunks. So for quite awhile he lived with us. Hence they could ground him. They weren't like going to his parents house and saying "Your son is grounded, go put him in his room"

Ahhh man, I used to wrestle my younger brother all the time as a kid, and one move I'd thought up was some sort of cradled powerbomb where I'd pick him up from the ground, swing him between my open legs, then in one motion swing him up whilst falling forward into a powerbomb. I did it one night when my parents were out... had some friends over, dragged a mattress downstairs and we were playing wrestling. Went to do my "finisher" on my brother, and I'm like, this is it, I'm going for the big one so decided to give him the old "...and a-ONE-a and a-TWO-a and a..." and try and swing him twice for more momentum. Holy shit, on the way back down at full momentum with the second swing I managed to WHANG! the back of his head straight onto the concrete floor. Made the most horrible thud I've ever heard... so naturally I rubbed his head, tried to tell him hes OK, he's a tough guy, anything to not make him burst into tears... but thinking back now as an adult... he was clearly concussed as fuck, poor kid lol, he wasn't right for the rest of the night.

Pro wrestling never ceases to confuse me, because I thought it's staged but all the fans act like it's real.
@titaniumvulpes
@titaniumvulpes 7 ай бұрын
It's choreographed. You need to think of it like stuntmen doing action scenes in a movie, or circus artists doing trapeze acts. They're real athletes and they are actually hurting each other (you can't fake whipping someone with a chain hard enough to leave welts, for example), but they're trying to inflict as little damage as possible. Regardless, much like other sports, they tend to have to retire early from physical injuries (my mom's friends with a wrestler who had to retire in his 30s from back injuries). The storylines, rivalries, etc however _are_ made up and scripted and for the most part everyone gets along well enough off-stage. They play characters - the characters The Undertaker and Kane are brothers, but the real human people Mark Calaway and Glenn Jacobs aren't, they're just the actors who _played the characters_ The Undertaker and Kane. It's not like boxing where people just go into a ring as themselves and fight as a sport, professional wrestling is more like a stage play with martial art stunts. That's why so many wrestlers go into movies after retiring from wrestling - they're actors above all else.

@Kat-bq8dc

Fun fact: Brent Bozell, who founded the Parent's Television Council, is also is a huge booster for Trump. Trump appeared on the wwe. And also has a habit of not being family friendly, especially surrounding the topic of women in his life. I hate this. I hate all of this. Edit: if you want to fall down the rabbit hole, look up the Media Research Center. Brent also used to make frequent appearances on Bill O'Reilly's show, who also had less than family friendly issues with women. He would come onto his show and whine about liberal media bias. On Fox. Don't get me wrong, media bias is a huge problem, but hearing about it from Brent on Fox was laughable. Brent's dad was also a piece of work.

This is what floors me so much about modern day liberals. How much the tables have turned in regards to censorship. I distinctly remember all this. It was always the conservatives doing this back in the day. Wanting to get Married With Children taken off the air. Wanting Mortal Kombat banned from sale. Wanting NWA (and most rap in general) banned from the air waves. And it was always the liberals that stood in their way, with their motto being "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it!" Fast forward 20 years or so and now it's the liberal demanding that controversial people be de-platformed. That speakers they don't like be barred from speaking on college campuses - and resorting to riots and violence when they don't get their way. Pulling fire-alarms to disurpt speeches. Running massive social media campaigns to pressure companies to fire people for "wrong-think." Demanding that everything be sanitized and include trigger-warnings . 1990's liberals would be ashamed of modern liberals.
