If you're like me, you love cars and you love old cars. And you definitely love garage jacks!
In this video, you're going to watch an incredible 1909 garage jack restoration. " The new Millennium Garage Jack " by Lake & Elliot
This is one restoration project that is definitely worth watching! as we will see if it can lift a 1917 International truck
Not only is this garage jack restoration amazing to watch, but it's also proof that even classic cars can be restored to their former glory. So if you're a fan of old cars and garage jacks, be sure to watch this video!
help fund the next project for the museum koji.to/k/6AxN

So unusual and refreshing to see a jack in perfect condition. Not a single spock of rust, beautiful color and all the paint is still on it. Excellent work

👍 Great job Richard; it works really well-in fact it works a lot better, or with less effort than I though it would. As a bonus, it almost looks as nice as the "High-tech dashboard" too-that was pretty funny. God bless.

It's your project Bud. Do it how you want. If you're enjoying yourself and turning out a good result, does it matter how it gets done? I enjoy your videos. You might not do things how I might do them but I learn different ways to skin the cat. WD-40 is a water displacement product that happens to work as a half decent penetrant. If a fastener is frozen in place, that squirt of WD or whatever penetrant isn't going to do jack if you only give it three seconds to work before trying to break it loose. Once they're already moving, even just a tiny bit, yea that penetrant will work wonders. For a completely frozen fastener, nothing beats heating and beating.
@richardrestorations
@richardrestorations Жыл бұрын
sometimes you just do what people expect you do, it's easier to deal with than a barrage of complaints not using WD40 . having done test myself it dose take hours for the capillary action to work but doesn't do much in the way of loosening them as you say heat or break it adds to the drama cheers Richard
@heliarche
@heliarche Жыл бұрын
@@richardrestorations I understand. I wish people would leave you to do your own job how you want to do it and how your experience dictates. Heat and patience are my best tools for frozen fasteners. I've wondered about a large pressure rated tank full of some kind of penetrant. Immerse your piece in it, pressurize it with an air compressor and leave it for a week with the pressure on it. I don't want to try it though. Pressure and anything flammable could end up badly I think... A simple propane blowtorch can save a lot of heartache.

Nice job, but why is the same with so many of these resto channels that they don't appear know what a bench vice is for??? Try putting your parts in one when trying to loosen or tighten nuts/bolts and get better leverage, and when grinding the heads off pins etc, instead of the parts jumping all over the bench, it ain't rocket science!
