Gee I wish they made photo albums like that now with the beautiful floral framing. Thanks for sharing the indentures from the 1700s and the history lesson about the scalloped security edge and metal pieces in the stamps. I would’ve thought the scallops were just for decoration! @@BookandPaperArts Hey, I grew up in Clarksdale and now live right outside Grenada. I have a new puppy so my creative urges get sidetracked pretty easily these days LOL. She’s a fun one so we’re just doing the best we can. I hope to get her trained enough in next couple of weeks that I can do some fun things at the craft table. Have a great week!!

Hi there old friend! We've missed you, and I hope you had a great time back visiting family! You are not only SO fortunate to have found these albums, but quite a lot of tin types, which I just love, and those intricate floral painted pages. I've never, ever seen anything like that prior in any photo books! I also just always love and appreciate your histories with vintage papers (the scalloped edges, stamps, types of papers, etc) Thanks Kelly, your the best.

You are so lucky! our thrift shops in my town like the Goodwill would have thrown those photo albums in the dumpster along with the photos! I was a sorter and a Prices're at our local Goodwill and would argue about some of the thing the tasted away! Here in the USA!

Hi Kathy, oh believe me I had to train my second hand book shop over and over, trying to convince them that I did want them to save that "rubbish" for me. I also heard that another reason/s for the serious photo looks were also because saving up your money for a photo was a BIG deal for many people and it was a solemn occasion, not unlike posing for a painted portrait and they wanted to look serious and elegant. Another photo aficionado told me they often didn't smile, especially the older folks, because their teeth were in such poor condition.

The things we learn from you! I loved that piece of paper cut in a way in which the other part would have to match perfectly! They didn’t have the technology we have today, but they managed to do things too. I always feel a bit sad though to see the photos. I start wondering who abandoned them, who couldn’t keep them, who didn’t want them… I am glad you got them and will make beautiful things with them 🩷🩵❤️💙🧡💜💛🖤🤎💚🩶🤍
